LFR, I lived through the AIDS epidemic as a gay man. It started when I was just about your age so I had to be careful so much during my young life. Thank you for being so kind and thoughtful to Freddie and his memory, because he represents the lives lost that shouldn't have been lost. Shortly after Freddie died, they came up with an AIDS cocktail and have revised it so much since then that AIDS infected people are living regular lives. I lost my dear friend Richard shortly before the cocktail came to market, so there was much sadness around AIDS at that time. Thank you for being a better man than the youth of my day. You're a sweet soul.

My sympthies, friend. I, too, lost so many friends in those early days. (Starting in 1978 in the RHPS cast, the Evil swept through my friends like a tsunami) I, too am impressed with this lad's sensitivity. It gives me hope. Be well.

Just remember, Freddie wanted to do this, it is what gave him a feeling of purpose. He wanted to leave something for his fans who meant the world to him and to his bandmates who had been the most consistant people in his life. Imagine how hard this must have been on his bandmates to see their friend like this but they wanted to make his last days the days he wanted them to be. Freddie never complained though he was in a very high degree of pain all the time, he was brave all the way to the end. God bless Freddie Mercury, he brought so much joy to us.

He didn't die abruptly - he had been diagnosed for 4 years, and suffered a great deal physically. He worked as long and hard as he could to keep his mind on what was important to him - music for his fans. The vest he's wearing is hand painted pictures of some of his favorite cats! Thanks for your heart felt reactions!

Hi sorry I know I am comment pretty late, but I just want to say he did die abruptly...to some. Roger, John, and Brian all knew what was happening but, he never wanted to be the famous poster boy for this disease. To the public it was definitely very abrupt but for his close friends and family they knew.

Video is making days of out lives. The clothes he's wearing are made of silk, other materials caused him a great deal of pain. The waistcoat has cats because of his love of cats. He wore lots of makeup to hide the KS lesions on his face, the final release was in black and white to help hide his shocking appearance. It was incredibly difficult for him to even move, he had an open wound on his leg that wouldn't heal and most of the bottom of his foot had gone, it was eventually amputated, not long before his death. He was also suffering from the side affects of the AZT he was taking. Whats really sad is he missed out on antiretroviral medication by just a few months. Had he contracted HIV later on, or lived a little longer he may have still been around today.

This was the behind the scenes footage from 'These Were the Days of Our Lives' a song written by Roger with his children in mind, but due to Freddie's rapidly declining health took on a whole new meaning. The actual video was made in black and white, and the reason for Freddie's heavy makeup was to try and minimise just how ill he looked.

Freddie’s death was one of those moments where you feel like a light has gone out, and the world seems a darker place for it. Maybe Freddie was one of the last of the truly great stars, people who have made the world a better place for their having been in it, their loss is humongous. It felt the same when Audrey Hepburn went, and Tupac and Biggie too.

Like everyone else. Watch These Are the Days of Our Lives. It will touch you. This was 16 weeks before his death. Standing was excruciating and exhausting for him at this point. But he persevered. It was only three months later that he made the decision to stop his medications and accept his fate and never left his home again. He made that decision after not being strong enough to finish Mother Love. With his work gone his suffering was too much to bare. R.I.P. Freddie Mercury. He was a once in a millennia talent. There will never be anyone like him. I feel so blessed to have seen him 7 times in my life. Best I ever saw. ❤

The sore that was on his foot ran up his leg, and made a very bad open wond. He limped very badly and never let anyone see the pain that he was in. this is interesting. It is the Behind The Scenes filming of "These Were The Days Of Our Lives", and usually there is audio to it. Freddie discusses with the video producer about how to move or making too many gestures. You see Roger studying the results & John standing, watching. There is another rock star & friend to Freddie, Dave Clark there. You won't find Brian as he was not on set that day. The brightly colored "cat vest" was hand made for him & the pictures are all of his own cats! Freddie Mercury is one man who really turned himself into a legend.

As a die hard Freddie Mercury fan, I have to recommend that you watch as many documentaries about that last album in particular as you can JoJo. The lads said his mantra was literally "while I'm still here, use me." He was literally pumped with vodka and morphine, propped up so he didn't fall down...and all with such grace, for the love of the music, for the love of the fans. You can see how ill he was in this video, he was wearing all that make up to look "well", his clothes were padded...and he ends the video with that spine chilling "I still love you" as his farewell. A unique talent. A legend. A true professional.

The most incredible thing was that he still had that voice, despite the fact that his body was disintegrating around him, that to me is the most amazing thing, and a gift of grace. Poor Freddie, HIV is no longer a death sentence like it was then, and perhaps the loss of such a singular human being as Freddie helped shine a light on the disease and more research dollars put into finding a cure.

Freddie made it clear to the band that he wanted no sympathy. He hid skin issues caused by AIDS behind all of that makeup; he'd also lost almost all of one foot to AIDS. It was reported that Freddie unexpectedly showed Brian May what was left of his foot, which upset Brian so much Freddie had to give HIM comfort. I can believe that.

The scary thing about that footage is that we think we might be able to tell how unwell he was by how he looked but in reality he was suffering unimaginable pain and every moment must have been so hard. AIDS was still usually a death sentence then and the therapeutic treatments of today had not been discovered at this point.

@Jayden-sh2jt
@Jayden-sh2jt 4 года назад
MythsQueue I heard it from a few sources. What’s definitely true is he lost at least half of foot. I’m just going to believe it was amputated, especially now I know how he actually died. According to his bf, it wasn’t the phumonia (can’t spell) that killed him. Apparently after taking him to the toilet, he placed him on the bed and because Freddie’s bones were so fragile now Jim heard a massive snap. I won’t share the next things that happened cause that’s upsetting enough and trust me, it got worse, but it caused a seizure and after being pinned down so he wouldn’t hurt himself, it tired him out and he fell into a coma. Considering that is the story put lightly, just what I just said alone, I wouldn’t like imagining Freddie going through anything worse than it had to be yknow

One thing that can make you happy is that what Freddie Mercury wanted to do was to make and record music as long as he possibly could. Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon (and others in the Queen family) made certain he could do that. They went to their studio in Switzerland away from the British press and wrote and recorded songs. His vest has pictures of his beloved cats!

My heart literally rips in a million pieces every time I watch this video, however, I always watch it to the end, because that is what Freddie would have wanted, because he stuck with it to the very end....... ***RIP GREAT ONE***

Nice reaction. This behind the scenes footage for the video of the song These Are The Days Of Our Lives. You should definitely watch the real song as well. Another music video he also did around this time is I am Going Slight Mad, and it is actually a great video.

I remember when I went to my first Queen concert. When Freddie walked on stage, the energy shifted. I'm not kidding. There will never be another like this magnificent talent. I'm so glad I had a chance to see this dynamic front man, Freddie Mercury. He was so much more than the disease that would later define him. I hope people don't remember him as he died, but rather as he lived. Such a talent, and one that can not be duplicated.

Mother Love was his last recorded song. He couldn’t finish it the day of recording it and said he would finish it when he came back. He never made it back, so the last verse of the song is sung by Brian May. Makes me cry when I hear it.

He was a roll model, standing in his truth. My best friend died from AIDS. I didn't get to see him before he died and it's always going to be one of my biggest regrets. Love is love and nobody has the right to say who people should love or be attracted to. RIP Freddie. You were a beautiful soul. Jojo, your words were beautiful and your heart is pure. Much respect.

Freddie, although passed in his prime, has left a stamp on music history and deserves to be known as the Legend he became. The guy had talent, oozed talent, and was part of a band that has written and produced so many iconic songs still used today in sports, etc. Long live King Mercury, what a guy x
