Having read all his other books, The Book Thief is an outlier for Markus Zusak. His other books are all contemporaries set in Australia, it's been awhile since I read those but I remembering them being very much like Bridge of Clay. But, I Am the Messenger had a similar similar flow to Book Thief so you might like that more

I remember when I read The Messenger I thought it felt exactly the same and completely different to The Book Thief at the same time; if that makes sense. Those are the only two of his books that I’ve read, but yes, Book Thief is definitely an outlier.

I feel bad DNFing books, but some are just so painful. If it's a series, I try to figure it out quick so I don't get sucked in and feel obligated to finish. That happened with the Red Queen series. It almost killed my soul. Book 4 was way too drawn out and at least 400 pages should've been cut from it. Also, you should try Sky in Deep again. It's really good. The companion book, The Girl the Sea Gave Back is also amazing.

For me reading Bridge of Clay was all about timing. The first time I tried to read it I got half way through and put it down as I couldn't get my head round the structure. But knowing how much I love Zusak's books I couldn't leave it unfinished. I picked it up again when my grandfather passed away last year. It was the right time for me to read it. I connected with it so much better second time around. I was left in tears at the end.

I DNF so fast with zero regret lol. I’ll DNF a book after reading a handful of sentences if it doesn’t immediately grab my attention 😂 there are too many books out there to spend time reading books that you’re only kind of enjoying!

I DNF, but usually I will give books another try because often it's because I'm just not in the right mood for that kind of book.

I’ve started DNFing books. I realize when I am dragging myself through a book I don’t read as much. I just sadly DNFd A Curse so Dark and Lonely. I wanted to like it but for some reason just didn’t. I made it 40 and I didn’t want to read it. Same with the Goldfinch. Luckily they were both library books so no money spent

If you didn't like The Goldfinch, you will most likely not be a fan of any of Donna Tartt's books. I'm also not a fan, but I know so many people who adore that book and all of her others.

Same here. I dnf a curse so dark and lonely and I feel bad because many people recommended it lol 😂 I thought that was just me

@@kateg3815 I really wanted to like it but I agree. She may not be the author for me. Her writing is beautiful though

DNF-ing books has become a recent pleasure of mine. Thank you for this video- if you are now loving a book, move on! There are thousands more out there. 😊

My rules for DNFing a book is if I don’t care about the characters or I don’t care how it ends. My most recent DNF was The Inheritance Game. Especially when I found out it was a trilogy!

I only dnf a book if I don't feel a connection I'm not going to waste my time on a book that I can't connect I use to do that but not anymore

I really enjoyed I am the messenger but it definitely had a different vibe from the book thief. I plan on reading bridge of clay in October, hopefully I’ll enjoy reading it

I have such a hard time DNF'ing a book. If I do put a book down, it's only for a little while and then I feel obligated to go back and finish it. I really need to work on letting go of stories I don't connect with. It seems so liberating.

You should read 'it ends with us' and give a review if you liked it or not .. I personally enjoyed it and I think our taste in books is somewhat similar so I want to know if you like it or not..

I DNF a lot because I have way too many books I want to read to be wasting time with books I don't like. Glad I wasn't the only one confused by gilded wolves.

I am the biggest fan of not finishing books lol if it’s depressing me or making me angry or I just don’t vibe then I’m going to stop . And I have a specific list DNF on goodreads because they do count. Lol. I’m reading for fun not as a chore.
