Can I just say OH MY GOD. I’ve been suffering with severe pain in my right hip and compression of L-5 S-1. I’ve tried everything from massage, chiropractic adjustment, PRP therapy, acupuncture, Rolfing, to meditation. Things might get better for a little while, but never for long. When it gets really bad, all the muscles in my back start burning, I can’t do the stairs, and a rib in the upper left side would pop out of alignment giving me chest pain on top of it. I went to another chiropractor last week who twisted my rib cage and tried to put my hips into alignment. Immediately the muscles on the outside of my LEFT hip spasmed and I limped out of the office in massive pain and in tears. I’m 56. I thought maybe this was just it for me. I would have to live life in pain. I just did exercise 2 in this video. I totally felt it where I was supposed to. I held it for about 90 seconds. I did that exercise 3 times. I just stood up WITHOUT PAIN on my right side. I’m completely stunned! I can’t even believe it. 😮 thank you so much! 🙏🏻 (now I have to figure out what is happening on my left side after the adjustment. I still have pain there.)
You’ve just summarized what I was going through for the last 6 months of my life! It took me forever to understand this, thanks for this clear explanation 👏🏻
Thank you for all the videos addressing the left-sided pelvic tilt related issues. I've been struggling with lower back pain (probably triggered by a recent hamstring and then a knee injury) for about half a year, going to various physicians and physical therapists, doing a lot of exercises and stretching. Even though strengthening my core was not worsening my symptoms, it never really helped. Only after I started doing exercises you are summarising in this video I finally started feeling better. And it really took just a couple of weeks. So I finally got back on track and returned to my usual sporty lifestyle. I know I am not 100% yet but my body finally learned to recognise what was wrong so I believe it is just a matter of perseverance to restore my posture. Likely I will soon subscribe to your program because you really seem to understand what you're doing (take that from a scientist working in evolutionary microbiology). Keep up the great job and thank you again!
Is deadlifting is not a good exercise for normal people except bodybuilders or power lifter,I am asking this because I have sciatica bcz of deadlift and I have both pinches not all the time both places
Mine started 20+ years ago... I always flash back to an exercise i did when learning martial arts... I noticed his the Horse Stance immediately took pressure off my nerve... I could Actually feel the tingling in my feet
Conor, I'm from Turkia Istanbul Suffer into acute ciatica pain since a couple of weeks and go through with your video , apply and follow your advice. truly feeling good Thanks
Best Explaination ive ever heard. I suffer from this pain since 3 years and tried so many but nothing really helped. I will try this Exercises. Greetings from Germany 😀
I heard a pop sound in my right hip a week ago while playing on the floor with my 6 year old and have been in excruciating pain from the hip down to my lateral right leg and tingling toes. I have tried stretching and watching numerous videos until I came upon your video. I can’t believe how much relief I’ve gotten just from following the steps with you. I just wanted to thank you for taking your time to share your knowledge with me and the public. I still have some pain but nothing like when I got up this morning. How often should I do these exercises? Thank you.
The way you described how sciatica can happen was perfect, and exactly what I have been experiencing. Thank you! Will these help with tight pelvic floor muscles as well? I have a tight piriformis and sciatica on the left, but tight pelvic floor on the right.
Would be really grateful if you could make a video on how to reverse lumbar spine straightening. My lumbar lordosis has decreased a lot which has caused a lot of low back pain and even knee pain. I do low back extensions which made the muscles stronger but not much overall improvement as I have to sit for hours studying. Love your work!
I played rugby till the last year of high school. I played a tournament for my club and got hit in the back. I've been on pain ever since. I was 16 when I woke up one day and couldn't feel my legs. I couldn't walk. Doctor said he couldn't really find anything, maybe it was just from the tackle. I don't know what to do about this back pain anymore. Sometimes I feel like snapping my back because I think it might relieve the pain. I'll be 32 soon, that's pain for half my life ladies and gentlemen.
I was in a similar boat post car accident, but mine was tremendous back pain (could not sit for longer than 10 mins) and sciatica. I never had the complete numbness or couldn't walk entirely however. I have written about my experience and the work I now do, it might help connect some dots for you in regards to further research. If you like, search up atheqsystem and read as many articles as you like. From my personal experience, chiro helped, PRI tenants (years back when I ran into them) helped some, massage helped some and also created some issues at the same time, acupuncture was hit and miss, and PT was generally the same. I spent a long time trying to figure out answers to my issues. It wasn't until I started realizing that I could not sense/feel certain areas of my body anymore (key muscular systems such as the obliques/glutes etc) that I started to have breakthroughs. I hope that my message is some small way can help you on your journey back to health. Wish you the best.
Yoga exercises are great for this very similar. I do construction, and while the good boots are on all day. The sciatic is not a problem. It's when I take the boots off. Therefore, lacking support and causing the sciatic to act up tremendously.Lesson learned Thank you for the advice it helps advice.
I thought squat university channel was good, but man.. you, my friend.. are a genius. I'd love to mentor under you and learn what's in your mind. I've always wanted to be a PT/ nutritionistbut school in the US is too expensive.
I don’t know if it is sciatica I have or it is a pinched femoral nerve. I have a hip crease pain lifting my left when putting on my pants. Had it for 6 months now any idea?
I had it down left leg in January. No reason. Just one day. Stiff leg foot extension was pain. What fixed it? Not sitting around. Walking with Xero shoes letting my pelvis drop more. Then progressed to jogging and Edola stretches. This helped me. Also, do not drink energy drinks. The form of B12 in them will flare nerves. I did also wear a sacrum belt for the first two weeks.
5 Weeks after surgery on L5/S1 because of sciatica, I feel the first one is best for me. The second one gives me a stretch, but afterwards it irritates my sciatic nerv very much. 😢
I've had both calves twitching when sitting or laying down for 26 months. Numerous doctors, exams, EMGs and MRIs have told me it's L5-S1 nerve issue. Any recommendations for stopping the twitches? Currently on month 4 of PT. Love your channel.
I don't have sciatica in form of compresed nerve roots. I have a medial protrusion of l4-l5 and l5-s1. And still have symptoms in legs when sitting. Try thiamine or b-complex(i use daily dose divided to 2-3 parts. Cuz when you eat 1 in the morning it will work for some time and then u will urinate it. Some might think benfothiamin (fat soluble) might work better but it isn't for me.
@@theonejmv not all twitching in the legs is caused because of nerve root compresions. My surgeon showed me my protrusion, which is medial(not to sides, straight backwards) and is 5mm. And the nerve roots were far from the disc. They can be affected by the inflamation but as he said: there are not only these nerves like on every picture on the internet. There are nerves inside the discs also that can be damaged. My nerve roots are free and I still have twitching in both legs when sitting. And a lot of neuropatic syndromes in other areas. And b vitamin helps calm down nerves and protects them. Google something about thiamine
Thanks for the great video and info. I've been having problems for a few years. Do you know if stabbing pain in my glute would possibly be this issue. Thanks in advance
Thnx Doc!, I've noticed a relation between my rt. side inguinal hernia and left side sciatica, and how the recommended therapies for each antagonize the other! ? zup? Thnx, Steven.
I am too fat to get on the floor and my legs are unreliable from sciatica numbness and weakness on both sides but mainly on right leg. Any adaptations?
Good evening doctor am prudence from Zambia 🇿🇲 have been having pain in my left leg the pain start from the hip going up and down to to the leg,am sports ladie l play squash it happens like when am playing squash l don't feel the pain but when I stop and starts to walk that's when I feel a lot of pain in my left leg please advise me should I stop playing or what?
Am at the point of what can I do ...had 4 opps on my L4/5 suffer from chronic pain but way worse on my right leg & ankle? Numbness, pins/needles both feet 8 years of treatment don't ever see the end. Protect your lower back folks ..Once it's damaged never the same again.
The TFL is an IR muscle but it will take over for the glute med’s role in it when the pelvis is in an extended state (anteriorly tilted). So it’s not a good sign in this context
I keep feeling a punch with the capsule stretch. I know this is the stretch I need before I can do any other exercises but it hurts before I can get the true stretch, what could I do?
Doctor any tip for stiff right shoulder but flexible left shoulder? Im not sure how to approach this problem, and im not sure if its related to me also having knee valgus (My main work its on computer so I think my right arm its more dominant, not sure if thats related to the stiffness also long time sitting)
with #3 exercise, why do we do it this way and not sciatica side on the ground, squeezing upwards. Is it always better as shown or is there some situation where doing it this other way might be better?
Thanks for this info. P.S. the background music is intensely distracting. I could nbarely get through your video because of the music is so off-putting
Playing pickleball is causing sciatica pain for me on my left side. I stretch, lift weights, warm up and cool down, but yet this sport still causes issues. If you play pickleball, you know what I'm saying.
Same for me but tennis. There's a good book called "Ageless Painless Tennis" which recommends some exercises to help correct. Tennis, pickleball, golf and baseball are all "one-sided" sports so our hitting side gets over developed.
