Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were Rabbit Reaction is today's video!
Join me as I watch Curse of the Were Rabbit for the first time today! I couldn't stop laughing at the amazing story and Rabbits!
The plucky characters from a series of animated shorts, Wallace (Peter Sallis) and his dog, Gromit, make their feature debut here. After starting a pest control business, the duo soon lands a job from the alluring Lady Tottington (Helena Bonham Carter) to stop a giant rabbit from destroying the town's crops. Both Wallace and the stuffy Victor (Ralph Fiennes) vie for the lady's affections. If Wallace wants to please his pretty client, and best Victor, he needs to capture that pesky bunny.

This is the part where, as someone who grew up with Wallace and Gromit, that I get to inform you that this movie isn't even close to the most bonkers adventure this glorious duo went on. God bless you, Peter Sallis. You were a treasure
@ericjanssen394
@ericjanssen394 2 года назад
It's probably the LEAST bonkers, which is why it didn't do well at the theaters. (And thus ended its usefulness for Dreamworks to buy Aardman Studios, and get Chicken Run and Flushed Away.) The most bonkers?: It's still hard to out-bonk "The Wrong Trousers": ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jrmZIgVoQw4.html

2:53 For clarification, the original UK version of this film states it’s a marrow. But some bizarre reason, Dreamworks seemed to think many American audiences wouldn’t know what a marrow was, so they wanted it changed to melon, which makes zero sense as it looks nothing like a melon.

I'm pretty sure this movie was one of the highlights of my Grandad's life he LOVED Wallace and Gromit. He had a little collection of the merchandise. I love them too. Poor Gromit I don't know how he puts up with Wallace sometimes. It's a testament to the animators talent that they can get across so much from Gromit's 'acting' with no dialogue.

Out of all the jokes in this movie, my favorite are the angel/devil sightgags in the Abbey, and when Gromit switches on the truck radio to hear 'Bright Eyes' by Art Garfunkel, a reference to the film Watership Down, a ferocious animated drama about rabbits escaping destruction, hence Gromit's reaction~

In the original U.K. Version, the “melon” is actually a “marrow.” So you can already guess that the “marrow” lines have been replaced with “melon.” They could've just said “zucchini.” Not “melon.”

This is the American version. In the British and original version, Gromit’s Courgette/Zucchini was called a ‘Marrow’, this was changed to ‘melon’ as the studio thought American audiences wouldn’t understand what a ‘marrow’ was and forced Aardman to change it for the American release.

I know you were interested as to how the curse got lifted at the end, so I think I might have a definitive answer that somewhat makes sense. The fall would normally be fatal to a regular person, and since Wallace at this point basically was both a man and a rabbit, the rabbit side acted as a shield for the human side and took the blow. Basically, the rabbit side died and the human side of him got to live on. That is why I believe the curse got lifted. It sounds a bit farfetched, but it is the idea that always made the most sense to me.
