Indians are incredibly easy to interact with, even if you’re an introvert. You just need a western appearance and their attention is fixated on you. It does make you a bit self conscious and the staring can quickly get very annoying. If you have an olive/dark skinned Mediterranean complexion you can get away with it, but I’ve seen British/US tourists get crowded around with people asking for selfies. This however depends HEAVILY on where in India you are.

If you don't understand how that could be perceived as rude on the groom's behalf you have some thinking to do. In the Bible, in romans 10:9-10 it said: if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. I cannot imagine this mans financial status, but dropping money on an event for an anniversary (not a wedding), is a pretty lavish thing. As a man, he was likely pretty jaded about this, and it was family tradition and all of that, and the one thing that consoled him was that he was going to be the debonaire. Now, lets say you did drop all this money, and then politely say yes to something, when you are say 45% on it. Lets then imagine that he becomes the spotlight, but also a concern for older members of the family saying who is this, etc. Then his partner offers food. I don't if you've ever attended weddings but the food is usually after the event is almost over and the main activities are done, so it is most likely that he had already stayed there for a long time, how would you feel if someone overstayed for dinner when you didn't ask him to stay for dinner whatsoever? 3. Based on some other Indians in this chat, it seems to be common practice for people to crash weddings as a stranger and get free food on the streets, if he's a regular Indian he might have gotten kicked out immediately, but instead they let him stayed. And so what if the husband is jelous as you have said, it is HIS and HIS WIFE's annivasary, as a total stranger crashing the wedding and a foregin guest in a foreign country, somehow you feel that this host should be oblieged to feed him, entertain him, and let him stay as long as he wanted?
