Hey everyone, in all seriousness, I made a mistake. 1. I was negligent knowing my tires weren’t great 2. I drove too fast on a road I didn’t know (driving past my limits) EDIT: I see many comments saying how I should have let the car steer out, which looking back now was probably possible. Had I done this, I would have been head on with the opposing lane in a blind turn. My car could have been ok but I also would have had a higher chance of hitting someone else. I definitely shouldn’t have braked as hard as I did and locked the steering angle, at the end of the day I ran out of skill and panicked after coming in too hot and not braking earlier. A mistake that could have injured others. I am VERY grateful I hit the guardrail and not somebody else. I will be rebuilding the car, I’ll never let go of my RX7. Time to throw some new tires and body panels on the car and continue driving! (and not repeat the same mistake) And to anybody criticizing me posting this, I’m here to show all of my mistakes. I try to be as real as possible. A lot of people would lie or be embarrassed to show this, but I’m just here to show reality. Please be safe and don’t make the same mistake I did! ❤❤❤
@@orca3346 its probably not the tires fault. it doesn't really matter how bad the tires are, you should be able to feel how much grip you have and blaming it on the tires really just mean that you don't have a good feel for the car. he came in way hot to a corner that was tighter than expected and was still hard on the brakes when he turned in. he overloaded the tires, its mostly driver error. i dont mean to hate on the guy. i like tsuchi and the things he do on yt and wish him the best, but he often drive above his limit. i must say that this sadly was inevitable.
@@tozkal96it was not the tires fault, my second statement was quite literally what you said, I was driving above my limits for this road. I have never driven it, came in too hot into a decreasing radius turn. The tires surely didn’t help, but the core issue was driving too fast on this road.
@@TsuchiFD i am well aware of what you said in the video. Its just that it has sort of become a habit of yours to almost crash in every video. Even though i probably come off as harsh, i say this because i don't want to se you crash. I care for the safety of you and all the people on the road with you, and don't want any thing worse to happen. Credits where credit is due. I do think its really strong and mature of you to acknowledge and tell us the viewers of the dangers if there was a car in the oncomming lane as well as what you stated, and to show your mistake. Kudos to you and i hope you learn from this and you get your car up to prestine condition and on to the roads again.
It wasn't the tires... He let off of the brake to downshift and paid the price. Honestly though if he would have eased off of the brake at the end he probably would have made the turn but he panicked and washed the front tires so he couldnt turn. Those look like
Things Tsuchi should have regretted doing by now: 1. FB marketplace tyres 2. Not upgrading his entire brake system in a performance car 3. Megan racing coilovers (wtf even is that)💀 4. not driving at night (every time he drives at night this shit happens)
Dear Eric, As someone that has been in that position before, I give you my utmost condolences and I am glad to see that you and the car are both (more or less) okay and that the damage is fixable. Furthermore, my respect for you has increased tremendously. As someone once said, it's not the crash that defines you but how you respond to it. I see too many people attacking the touge with an unhealthy mindset and I'm overjoyed that you are a positive role model in the community. Best regards, -Aminmotors
Glad you’re okay bro! I know the feeling of crashing a car and it sucks. Everything you’ve experienced can always be learned from. Hope everything works out 🫶
Tsuchi I know this feeling too well, it's going to be okay. You're one of the safer touge drivers I have watched on RU-vid. You never cross mustard and you know when to quit. However, this street sport comes with its own niches, and you're not the first to crash! The feeling is going to suck because you hit your baby, but you're okay and that is all that matters. Restoration mod about to be lit! STAY SAFE OUT THERE NIGHT DWELLERS!
Im sorry this happened to you man ,I’m glad your okay and nothing happened to you just stay strong and don’t loose motivation,Materialistic things will always be replaceable but you aren’t man ,stay safe bro❤️😘
Bro your lucky you wasn't going to fast and that rail was there, glad it wasn't any worst and your ok man! I saw this notfi at school and damn it took my mood down and I was shocked. Good luck with the repairs man!
Glad you're okay. Learning experience, and since it's on youtube, a teaching experience also. Thanks for sharing. Sad to see the immediate aftermath, but I know the car and the driver will be back better. Sports driving is so complicated. Logic would want young people with little money to focus solely on tyre and brake upgrades, but the soul seeks beauty and aesthetics. However, since this goes into the realm of harming oneself and others, please consider a no-compromise approach on having speed follow feedback. Unless the car provides exceeding confidence, avoid sports driving. If good tyres required for this sensation of confidence and predictability are not affordable, make them a goal and avoid sports driving until then. It might be hard for an enthusiast to patiently avoid the touge, but dealing with terrible ramifications by rushing it would be harder still. This is one of my favourite car channels. Love and power to you, brother.
if you want to know about a guy, look at who he surrounds himself with. You could hear the sadness in your voice. Still you held up and managed to get it out and running. You also got those mexican guys names and thanked everyone there. The fact that so many people were there is proof of how theres atleast lots of homies that got your back. Theres alot of mish mashed parts in that rx7, i know that you'll learn from this but still, getting some good new tires, brakes and good suspension would be a good. I hope you keep that car in good condition though, losing something like that from the world forever would be so detrimental. PLEASE watch out for any frame damage in the gaps of the car. It could fuck you over even harder than those tires. fyi if you age a bit you would complete the toji fushiguro look
i love the big hispanic dudes that drive the civics. theres at least one group of em that pulls apart every civic at my junkyard. very cool guys helped me pull a head off a fit once
My brother is in the Air Force, he was stationed in Japan for a couple years and bought himself a little Daihastu Charade to have fun on the touge. The week before he was going to come home from Japan before his next station, he was driving it at night during a light drizzle, and coming out of a tunnel he hit a wet patch and lost rear grip. He had been used to driving his Fairlady Z, so he hit the brakes instead of keeping it pinned and counter-steering, and he barely totaled it on a barrier. He had been planning to import it into the States, since his Fairlady was too new, so that was kind of a blow to him.
first of all, i'm glad that the first thing that your friends did was trying to help! ALSO! relay isn't broken, but when cars crash, they often have a sensor that blocks the signal to the fuel pump (to prevent fires). definitly possible to fix that sensor. (and probably easy too!)
Glad you’re ok man. It was definitely ominous watching the cars in front of you pull away knowing what was going to happen next. Happens to the best of us. Always good to see people stepping in to help out ❤️
In Poland when something like that happens we say "kupiłem to rozjebałem"-"I bought it so i wrecked it" or "kto grubo zapierdala ten jebnąć musi"-"who drive hard need to crash hard". Im waiting to see rebuild of the rx7
Welcome to the Azusa canyons Bro alot of people crash up there i've crashed there multiple times as well. Keep your head up! Glad you're ok, the rx7 is gonna be back!
Love that you actually posted this and took responsibility for the crash, youre wayy safer than a ton of touge drivers out there, hope the rebuild goes well and you get some nicer tires on it.
Glad you’re okay man! Had a very similar experience recently so I feel your pain.. Definitely looking forward to seeing how the RX-7 comes back better than ever. Also those boys who pulled over deserve some free merch for sure!
Glad no one got hurt, and I wish you the best of luck with getting that car back together better than it was before. Something as precious as an FD should always be saved and I'm glad you're holding on to it. Luckly it looks like 90% of the damage was cosmetic. Side note, last year I got really close to hitting a mailbox in my 02 saab 9-5 aero on a backroad through some forested hills near me. It was a pretty tight downhill decreasing radius turn, I had been on the road once prior, but I was only there with me and one passenger. I had 2 extra people in the back seats and got some knarly understeer as a result. Glad I haven't hit anything so far (knock on wood) but it's always stupid things that seem to catch people off guard.
I know adrenaline can take over, but here's the big tip when entering an understeer situation: RELAX THE INPUT ON THE STEERING WHEEL. It goes against everything your brain and body wants to do, but it will allow the front tires regain traction and possibly save the situation. The first instinct is to TURN MORE (like we see in this video), but all that does is make the situation worse by reducing the front tires' ability to maintain traction. If you start to feel understeer, gently release steering angle and brake pressure, regain traction, then turn in again.
I'm so happy the FD and, more importantly, you are (more or less) okay, but I'm also very happy this video was made. I, along with many other of your fans, hit the Touge once or twice a week, and I also find myself losing traction occasionally. Every beginner- intermediate driver does. It's important to be reminded that we are not invincible and that the cost of a mistake on the Touge can be immense. For some people it costs a lot more than a fender.
Bro just glad you’re ok. I also crashed out just a few months ago and my car was completely totaled. It was the same scenario for me, I thought I was fine, running a road I run all the time… but just it locked up on a corner and I understeered off the road. I was at least able to get the impact on the side and I was completely fine, but unfortunately I learned the hard way that every time you go for a run there’s always gonna be that risk… no matter how good you are or how familiar you are with a road you just never know. When I crashed I too was a little too lenient with my setup, and I was on crap tires but I didn’t care. Since then I’ve got a new car and I’ve learned just how important good tires are, but more than that just driving within your limits. Either way again, glad you’re fine and the damage isn’t too bad. Stay safe bro ❤
sucks to see man but glad you and the car are okay. did the same thing in my miata recently and bent the subframe, could always be a lot worse. hope to see the car back soon!
bro a similar thing happened to me this year, had the understeer of death in an area I didn't know too well, and ended up totaling my car. But for you thankfully you still have yours man, could've been a lot worse, drive safe
Just got into an accident in my DC2 a couple weeks ago, seeing your face is just so heartbreaking, because i know how it felt. Not when you were about to crash, but when you brace for impact and then realized you fckd your car up. Dont worry though, you have really great people around you, so im sure you guys know how to attack this. May i recommend going tubular if the upper core support is more fckd. The fender, id suggest just going with another OEM rx7 fender, trying to PDR that is gonna be really expensive. Glad youre safe!
Bro I saw that coming from the moment you started pulling up to 4th in between corners I was just waiting for you to hit abs on turn in and go straight on😭
In other words what happened is while you were turning in you were on the brakes too hard which usually means you oversteer but you were on them hard enough to hit abs or lock up and you turned in and just understeered
Could have also been related to brake fade assuming you don’t have upgraded brakes (with the way you build your cars I wouldn’t be surprised if you didn’t) because there were a lot of tight corners separated by straights so you were braking hard a lot
This road has a lot of turns that can get you bro, I’ve had more than enough close calls when I wasn’t familiar with it. Shit happens you’ll be back soon 💪
As someone who just crashed my e30 I feel for you man 🥲 even if it’s just small damage it’s still hurts… Bro I just watched the video and I literally have the same exact damage 😂 the left side of my bumper and the left fender. 😅
Bro the pain in your voice.. I know that feeling all too well. Gladly it wasn't a more serious crash. It was not a matter of IF.. but WHEN.. We love you bro... . no more crappy tires.. or keep the crappy tires for the pretty wheels and get a set of "track" wheels with good tires for when you plan to drive the canyons.
These kinda things suck when they happen, but will make someone a better driver for sure in the future. The bald tires were definitely not helping, but also, slamming on the brakes in a corner will prevent the car from turning, it's better to brake before the corner, then turn in, "Slow in, Fast Out" She'll be back out there soon.
