Yeah, they never seemed to see eye-to-eye in the movie. Lydia probably requested a black room and got purple with green floors instead with lots of little flowers on the wall. Seems like something Delia would do😆

When decoupaging, spray the paper with water and let it relax. Then apply it to your glued surface. That helps a lot with the bubbles. I love the room. It really is quite pretty.

Oh thank you for the tip! How long do you let it relax for? Do you let it dry completely before adding it to the surface? I am up for any suggestions that help with bubbles!

@@BentleyHouseMinis I spray it with water and watch it relax. It will curl up and then it should start to flatten. When it is flat that is when I put it on. It needs to still be damp when you apply it. Just practice with some scraps first, and remember damp not wet.

I use a thin layer of woodglue instead of mod podge a it has not been warping and looks nice😊

Alternatively a glue that isn't water-based, like fabric glue. Fabritac is great for paper on paper and can be thinned with acetone, plus you can *erase* glue that squishes out when it's nearly dry. But it also stinks so may not be for everyone.

Once again, you've outdone yourself! Home Depot carries these little bunches of dried flowers when they bring in the Halloween decorations. They have super tiny dried flowers and stems 😂

I find it so helpful to see your thought process as you work through those problems as they arise. And yes, I felt that so deeply with that one piece of wall paper that didn't want to play nicely!

Haha, it's like that part of the wall kept sticking it's togue out at me to make me mad🤭 But thankfully it isn't as noticeable in the end when everything is in place. Thank you Rachael! Yes, it is the purple-y-est-purple room I have never seen!

Soooooo nicely done! I really liked that you left your mistakes in. When we run up against problems, a large part of MY brain has to go work to figure out the FIX. Very nice! I enjoyed seeing you get back to this project! There's always a "give & take" that happens with doing miniature stuff. There just never seems to be enough room for props, furniture, and figures to fit the way you want them to, but I think you managed a lot in such tight quarters, Ara! Great work!

It's such a cool looking room. In the movie my eye always goes to the paneling and the bed and I never really noticed the floor was green. Thanks for the providing the wallpaper. I was planning to do a little girl's room in lavender and white and this would be quite useful.

I love this wallpaper! And oh my gosh it was a lot of work here. With some of the mistakes in the middle, I felt like at home - I'm fixing and changing a lot of things durig the process as well, so now I don't feel to alone 😉 Final result is great. Can't wait for the rest of the house! 😀

Finding good solution for own mistakes is definitley a necessary ability for an artist, so as learning on own mistakes 🙂 It's impossible to know everything right away and to create ideal plans inside of own brain. We're just humans so part of whole process is always learning new things and evolving. Without that we'd stuck at one point without any progress [probably] 🙃 This way - we know more for future 😃 Yes, I liked it very much! And I'm still amazed with this green floor. I never thought it was in her room! Just as you said, I thought there'll be much more black / dark elements hehe 😁

It looks fantastic! I love all the little details you have added. They make it look more real. I do junk journals and I'm always gluing paper to something. I found that using a square bone folder to go over the piece that I glued down, helps spread the glue evenly. It also get the glue to the edge better. I have a friend who uses a brayer roller to spread the glue evenly. I don't know how you make sure that the mod pog is evenly spread on the bottom. Spreading the glue over the top, well, that's different. LOL I'm not being critical, there's always things that don't go the way you want them to go. I just wanted you to know what works for me.

I am always up for any tips that will make the paper go on smoother! I don't have a bone folder but I just might need to get one to help smooth things out. I always use my fingers but I miss spots! Thank you, I am so glad you enjoyed it!

@@BentleyHouseMinis I suspect that an old credit card would work well for spreading the Mod Podge. Edit: I don't know if the relatively sharp edge of a credit card might catch on the damp paper. The edge might require rounding slightly, with some fine sandpaper temporarily glued to a flat surface (a sheet of glass works well for that).

I’m looking forward to this school year. I’ve retired so I will have more time to, finally, be creative! Well, creative just for me, not as examples for my students, lol. I will finally unbox that cricut the hubs got me 2 birthdays ago and start buying some of your kits! But first, the studio clean-up! I’m so excited for October! I will be making Burton inspired Christmas ornaments for my oldest and teacup dioramas for my youngest. Always working on the dollhouse for the grandson. If you need any homeschool help, let me know. I have been watching & learning & been inspired by your videos for several years now and really wanted to thank you for your content. I understand that using laser cutters and 3D printers can be useful in the making of miniatures but the price is out of my scope. I tend to skip over creators that utilize these machines, and follow creators that work by hand, as I do. I am making a custom tarot deck to my friends engagement party, and was wondering how I will make the backing for the cards, if I want a repeating pattern and don't feel like painting each card by hand. And here you are showing me just how to do it with the wall paper. It's like every time I have a crafting problem the Beetlejuice house is updated with the exact problem I have.

I just bought some spray adhesive from Elmer's brand, and it seems to not give that wrinkle in paper like other products do. I highly recommend it ❤ I love all the purple in her room ❤❤

Thank you for the recommendation! I don't have much experience with spray glue as I have a hard time with the fumes but it may be worth it occasionally for a flat bit of wallpaper😁

@BentleyHouseMinis You're welcome! It's been working great for wallpaper so far! I used it to add scrapbook paper to cereal box walls & it's not showing any signs of wrinkles after about a week. It was my first time trying it, and I was happy with the results. It's called "craft bond spray" by Elmer's. I will say...the smell is a bit strong & I had a sticky desk 😅 because I sprayed it without covering things... but it could be worth it for certain projects. I thought I'd give it a shot and see how long it will hold up :)

I love your attention to detail and you make gluing walls together look so easy 😊 one way I fix bubbles is to poke the bubble with a straight pin and then take my mini press with some parchment paper between the iron and the bubble and the heat reactivates the modge podge and smooths the bubble and seals the small pin hole. Too many bubbles drive me crazy and sometimes I redo a part of a project but this method helps

maybe glue the plant stand/column to the removable wall, so it's in the room when closed, but not in the way when the wall is removed?

Oh interesting idea! It would make the wall much more interesting when it's open too! I will think about it... unfortunately the column is kind of heavy so it might pull too much on the wall.

So Amazingly Awesome!!! Love how her room came out the walls, the floor. I am not a fan of purple nor green, but I don't dislike them and somehow they compliment each other in this case. I should of watched this yesterday, but I was working and learning my new laser cutter and I definitely did not do small practice cuts, yes I did find settings that work for different materials if I can remember them, should probably write those down😂 and will certainly need more wood after all those attempts. 😂 leason learned. But I competed two cute lil kits. Very simple but fun shelves. I'm learning to crawl before I walk😂😅 I would love to see a video on the magnet walls, because it's so brilliant you may have created something there my friend. And I may need to make one or two for the retro room box since I will be modifying it's shape. Loved it all as always, and was super fun to get back to the BJH. ❤🥰

I have a whole post-it of settings for different materials that sits next to my computer😆 They get saved in the computer but if something ever happens (or re-sets) they are a huge pain in the but to rework out. I hope you get it all figured out soon, I can't wait to see what you make! I think I will be able to get the magnet wall video up soon as I already have all the footage, just need to put it all into one cohesive video. Should be a good reference for people! Yeah! It would be cool to see how/if any “big” plans have been adjusted from just deciding to or from necessity. Like your original vision vs how it’s going. I know you’ve had issues mostly with the warping foamcore, but also you’ve had fun things like the staircase. I love the midway recap!

One thing I do when covering boxes with paper that is thin and tends to form bubbles is that I work with glue stick (apply to the surface you will glue the paper thinly and watch for small pieces of loose glue that may be around and create bumps) or most likely use double sided tape. I place the tape on the surface and remove it while I glue the paper instead of taking the backing all at once and then laying the paper. Removing a bit at a time prevents me from glue it to the wrong spot before it is due (not sure if it makes sense but sometimes the paper bends and glues to the wrong spot). Something that also helps to glue is to not use my bare fingers to help smoothing while working but use gloves. I just grab my winter knit gloves and it cushions the fingers and helps not to leave grease or sweat stains on the paper surface and smooths the surface better. I also use that while working with contact/plastic adhesive.

So I got my first bottle of modge podge last week, and hadn't tried it until I saw this video. After some experimenting, due to Ara telling about the bubbling, I came to a conclusion; The best way to apply modge podge is wet-wet-wet. You brush on a layer of mp to the area where you want to attach paper. You coat the underside of the paper with mp, and smooth out any bumps. right after having the paper attached, while mp is still wet, you put on a sealant layer. All 3 layers of mp will dry at the same time, and it will dry smooth. I tested every possible method I could think of to attach the paper and this was the only way I had zero bubbles or bumps. I used this technique to make a deck of cards, and had no issues what so ever. Wet-wet-dry did cause some bubbling, even after the modge podge had dried several hours before sealing. The only version that didn't bubble, was wet on wet on wet.

I have used you magnet wall method a few times now, so good. I wondered how long it would be before you dealt with the stairs. Although bedroom doors are supposed to open into the room. I love that shade of purple, may have to paint a room that color some day.
