Heyyy!! It was really fun to play in this. I was a little surprised to get 3 wins in a row. But it is unfortunate that we lost our qualifier game:( next time🔥
Really fun to play the tournament and really proud of our semi-finals run! Hope to play in similar events in the future. Thank you for hosting zi8gzag 🔥
For next time you should add the flags of the teams next to the HP bars. With how spectator works and Zi8zag showing up rather than sometimes the obviously for example French names it would make it easier to know what team is what and who is in the lead.
This is so awesome! You should do it more often! I’d like if you’d announce the players on the teams before the start, though - so i knew who to root for. Shoutout mine Norske brødre 🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴❤️
53:49 thats a kei truck, so suggests east. It's a pretty reliable read because they dont really get imported towards europe unless you import them yourself
I feel like at the elite level, the damage multipliers really end up making the matches way more of a random win than truly determining the best player/team. I’d like to see them with no multipliers at all. Obviously the matches would take a lot longer, but would give a better actual indication of dominance. Maybe just bump up to permanent 1.5-2x so they don’t take forever.
1:28:22 The number has a format of 3-3-3 so that's a mobile number so it doesn't have an area code. If it's 2-3-2-2 then the first 2 digits are an area code
I feel like more Geoguessr players could get cracked on cloud meta. Often I don't know what country it is, but I can tell if they're on the coast or inland just by looking at the sky. Great tourney ZZ.
Not quite relevant to the stream, but would you appreciate people sending potential bait locations to you, or is that not something youd necessarily be interested in? Also this is such a fun format for a tournament, this is so fun to watch! Thanks for the great content right here man
it would be cool if there was something that factored in how spread a team is. Averaging your teams scores seems way too harsh, but maybe if the log base/exponent used in calculating the distance to points curve was affected? point is, it does seem silly when one team is all over the place but your team is all very close, but the scores come out the same. alternatively, maybe something like "teams of 4 but only 2 can guess" or even 1 guess per team, just to force more value into agreement.
I started this, but no, Im gonna watch it at work tonight. It'll be great to kill some time. Cant wait. Edit: was alot of fun. All country teams is a great idea.
3:10 Wow! I actually called out Virginia almost right away.... But, somehow I feel like it was a bit of fluke. I don't really know why I thought it was Virginia.
Hey zi8gzag. Good work with your presenting of the Geoguessr Americas Cup. I must comment again on the use of Multis and I'm surprised to see you include them in your tournament. Do you or any of the other pros have any thoughts on them or discuss their use with devs? It seemed many people observed that they did not seem very fair or balanced in the Americas tournament and impaced the eventual winner. This was my comment under the Geoguessr official Americas stream that had the 2nd most upvotes of any comment. Interested to hear your thoughts on the matter and that of the other pros who are unfairly impacted by them: "Enjoyable tournament, but again the multis are absurd - even if you must have them, the speed at which they go up is just too much and undermines the outcome of the games. Orlando would have won the Final by winning the 4th game if there were no multis, or they just didn't increase as much. It just seems wrong that tournaments should be decided by such an arbitrary layer added on top of what the players are doing and which doesn't accurately reflect the relative skill of the players' guesses across each game. The very first game of the first match today also demonstrated the way in which the multipliers really aren't fair.- CG won basically every single round, but Flyme won the game just because of the last multi round in India. If there was a different round order then CG would have won it. CG came through that match in the end, but it showed the multis clearly have too much of an impact. You also saw the exact same thing with the first game of Orlando vs Jake Lyons - Orlando won basically every round, but only lost the game because of the 5.5X final round (which also just happened to be US). It was a totally undeserved game win for JL. I've seen an argument for multis that they allow for comebacks, but a comeback should not be facilitated when they're so undeserved. The fact that CG and Orlando both still won their matches overall showed that you don't even need multipliers to have "comebacks" if the matches are best of 5 games (though not so much with just best of 3 as there's less room for error). Some people also claim the multis make things more "entertaining", but I don't find it entertaining to see players who played better across a game unfairly losing the game. No sports have such a silly scoring mechanic but they're still plenty entertaining to watch. If you must have multis for potential extra drama then their impact should be significantly reduced, e.g. have the rounds worth: 1 1 1 1 1 1 1.5 2 2.5 3. But really they're unnecessary and undermine the integrity of the competition, especially given its claim to find the best Geoguessr player. Both players in the final were excellent, but if the rules were more balanced then there likely would have been a different winner."
yea kinda crazy you are commenting this while having never played tourneys. Its really just how it goes and while the multis are higher than before, its much better to have the game end on a round that somebody wins than having both players be nearly full health and just determining a winner by higher default health after round 10. Much better for viewing purposes and the multis aren't an unfair advantage for one player or the other.
now having said this, if there actually is a problem with the multis then it could easily be solved by getting rid of the 10 round limit which really has no purpose in the first place. If we are airing out grievances, then we may as well remove moving since its really quite boring and less requiring of skill and more of luck of information and knowledge.
@@lolscorch4686 the multis are clearly "an unfair advantage for one player over another" when, as frequently happens, a player can clearly beat the other player both in early rounds and overall, yet lose to that player because they just get one good round late on with a high multi! And I think people who claim they're "much better for viewing purposes" can't actually like Geoguessr very much - because I find watching videos of players trying to get the best score they can plenty entertaining and exciting enough without nonsensical multis. I don't see what's wrong with the victor being whoever has the most health at round 10; there'd still be room for climaxes. But you could also just reduce the health to say 4000 and then remove the round limits and multis - which adds to be both the possible tension to each round and also the fairness.
Just to gauge who im talking to, how often do you play in tournaments and what is your current skill level and rating? I would like to see the credentials of somebody with this opinion before I continue.@@PhatInAHat
