thank you so much everyone for the love on this video, as someone just starting out it's so encouraging 🩵🩵 I've gotten a lot of question on the first blanket that I made, so I thought I'd pin a comment with some info!! ----> I used 6 skeins of bernat blanket perfect phasing yarn and an 8mm crochet hook when I got to the end of one skein I would continue on with the same color of the next one (so I would start with the center color of the skein then start with the outside color of the next skein so the color transition was seamless) the pattern I used is a granny rectangle, so I suggest looking up a tutorial if you're not sure where to start! here's one that helped me (and don't forget to turn your work after each round 💕): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6goxlVLxenU.html Here's a link to the tik tok made by the original creator: www.tiktok.com/@the_theseus/video/7247998393669193003?_r=1&_t=8jHXcrSlwy7

Those type of skeins are outside pulls. There is a difference between outside pulls and inside pulls. Inside pulls are like what the typical "value yarns" are like red heart, loops and threads, caron, and Joann big twist. The outside type yarns are most of the Lion brand line, and stuff like premier puzzle.

You are such a great crocheter especially for a beginner. My first projects were not nearly as neat as yours. Keep it going! And I loved the book content thrown in too! ❤️❤️ literally my dream day is now crocheting and reading during breaks lol. Also, I would say where you pull the yarn from is def up to preference, center pull is easier until (usually) the skein collapses on itself.

I think the center pull is more prone to knots. if you work w more than one skein of the same color, it’s honestly worth it to ball it up. It just makes a more pleasant experience. That said honestly do whatever you like more bc it doesn’t rly matter and the differences aren’t that big. about yarn pulling - i just make a ball of yarn before i start project, so I know if there are any imperfections, i untie knots and other unworldly things that you can find in the yarn skeins 🤣 turning one skein into the ball takes me around 15 minutes and a piece of mind for the rest of the project

While I am a center-pull girlie, there is a really cool hack I saw the other day on TikTok. If you like wearing Crocs, what you can do is jab a long crochet needle through your ball of yarn and then hang it between the holes in your Crocs and use it as a way to pull the yarn from the outside. Super handy! ❤

I am team outside pull, because when you center pull it uses the inside of the skein and leaves a pile of knotted yarn from the outside.
@pastel._.dreams508

Your blanket is amazing! I’m so impressed at how much you got done in a weekend. Wow! My thoughts on working yarn from the skein. 1) I pull from the outside if I know I’m not going to use the whole skein at once. The leftover is more compact and doesn’t create a pile of yarn barf. 2) I pull from the inside on big projects when I know I’ll be using multiple skeins and it won’t roll around or get tangled which happens when I use the outside. Love the video and the book talk.
@idkpaigely
@idkpaigely 11 месяцев назад
That makes a lot of sense!!! I guess the answer to my question is both methods!! Thanks for commenting 💕
@celesteworldbuilding
@celesteworldbuilding 10 месяцев назад
Some advice, even from a beginner myself: Always pull from the center. For 1, it allows easier crocheting, especially if you're going at a good pace. For 2, like another commenter already said, it makes it less likely to tangle and it doesn't move around as much like if you were to do it from the outside
@RuhaneChiisai
@RuhaneChiisai 5 месяцев назад
both methods are normal for a skein (outside yarn and heart thread), and both have their own benefits. The heart's a little harder to find most of the time and tends to come out in a clump, which can make a bit of a mess if you're not careful. Like, doesn't damage your yearn but sometimes the heart comes out bigger than you'd expect.

I've been center pulling in skeins for years (all weights), easier to keep loose tension and knot free working yarn, but it can get messy at the end when the skein collapses. Unravelling from the outside end is just extra time spent stopping stitches to roll the skein around for a pool of working yarn and I don't want to stop to do that when I'm in the zone. I just got a ball/cake winder for $25 and it is The BEST Purchase I've ever made for yarn tools. If there is any tangling at the end, it's in the last 10-20 yards verses the last 50 from skein center pull which is great because I tend to work big projects with lots of skeins.

@BadKittyNoMilk 11 месяцев назад
Hello, I just found your video and thought I’d watch your 24 hour crochet. I try to find the center end of the yarn it’s easier to pull from there. Otherwise the yarn ball bounces all over and sometimes it can cause a tangle or twist in your yarn, but it’s ultimately up to you. I love that huge granny square blanket I’m inspired. I love your ghost and paper is great as filling and that mushroom square. Amazing

Inside or outside pull for your yarn is completely up to the user. I prefer to do an outside pull (no yarn barf). However, I have a husband with a 3D printed who prints me so many yarn related things. Several are yarn holders. I have a lazy susan type yarn holder that spins as I use the yarn. He also designed and printed a yarn holder that has a wrist attachment so you can hang your yarn from your wrist and walk or stand while knitting or doing crochet.

Hii, came to your channel newly for this video, you flipping the ghost the other way actually made it right side out the messier side in amigurumi is usually the wrong side, and the nicer side that the stitches look good on is the right side!! it's definitely hard to tell as a beginner but when I made stuffed animals when I was just starting out, I could tell if it was the right side out if I was crocheting towards the left on the round (clockwise) and if I was crocheting on the round to my right instead (counterclockwise) then I knew I needed to flip it!

So with any chunky yarn you have to use your fingers to feel for the stitch also new subscriber ❤

There are yarn that are center pull or outer pull. The way the yarn is wrapped that you are showing should use the yarn on the outside. If you pull from the center you will have a lot of yarn barf. Nice blanket.

I think you can get the stuffing from Joanne Fabrics but I got eyes from a hobby lobby

I'm a center pull girlie, but I will no longer do that with yarn from hobby lobby. It always gives me yarn barf. Specialty yarns I decide based on how it feels.

It's easier to crochet from the middle than the outside. I have a yarn winder just because you can't always find the one on the inside so I rewind all my yarn before I use it just to be able to pull from the middle lol. I know I'm extra. LOL

ik this was made 2 months ago so your probably have the eyes but if you need eyes for a project and you don't got them then you can use black yarn/string and then sew it into the project. you can also use beads if your in a very tight pinch

I ended up using yarn scraps from the blanket in this video!! But using beads is so smart I never would have thought of that!!

i personally pull from the middle if its acrilic yarn or just not fluffy yarn and for fluffy yarn i full from the side if im making a blanket i like pulling from the side but middle is definitly more convienyent

I find pulling works well until your to a certain point then you get big tangled chucks coming out
