*I Crocheted My Wedding Dress in 6 Weeks from a Japanese Pattern*
Welcome to my epic journey of crocheting my wedding dress in 6 weeks following an intricate Japanese pattern from the Keitodama summer 2019 issue!
This was a real ordeal that I recorded from Day 1 to Day 42, plus my big Chinese wedding and some extra clips from my stay in my hometown, Harbin, China. I only learned to crochet one year ago and this project was a huge step up with working in fingering gauge and deciphering Japanese patterns. It was also an emotional journey since I hadn't been back home for 4 years and got all excited and anxious about the trip. I was feeling a lot of pressure for doing the project perfectly so that I could make a great impression on my family and in-laws. In the end, al went well!

Wonderful project! I love this sort of soft green/blue, it looks good on everyone. A friend crocheted her wedding dress (1978!) all semester. Full length, and unfortunately it grew in length, so she had to remove about a month's worth of work. But beautiful, as is yours.

I loved watching the progression of you making your wedding dress. Your dress is beautiful!! I think that wearing the color and dress that you want was a fantastic idea because your wedding was unique to you and not a cookie cutter same old kind of wedding. Thank you! Nainai is very shy on camera. She kept saying “don’t put this footage in your show! They will unfollow you after seeing this old lady talking!” I had to reassure her many times that her talk would only attract more subscribers for me. Hi Athena! Your dress is INCREDIBLE, what a masterpiece that you got to wear for your wedding and I can't believe you finished it in only 6 weeks! Such a bonus it's still so wearable in everyday life! Also, I'm from Harbin too! Ahhh the clip of you knitting by 松花江 and seeing you write it out as "江沿儿“ is just 🥹. My grandparents used to live within walking distance of the river and I remember walking along the river with my them after dinner every day when I was a child as part of their daily exercise. It's so sweet that your grandma made a cameo in your video!

@@SeedlingStitch Interesting that you did not have any aversion with a traditional "western" white dress for a wedding ceremony in Canada as you did with the traditional Chinese wedding red dress for a wedding ceremony in China!? I also find it interesting how I 100% dig your crocheted wedding dress, and not at all the footwear choice. Good for you! People define themselves aesthetically at details, I guess ;-)
