I don’t think she did, she just is happy that she could now leave the abusive father not that there’s no child. She didn’t want to leave because of her kid 😢
Nah, she never wanted her daughter. She wasn't ready to be a wife or mother, but abortion was illegal as stated in the game. She resented her daughter so much she named her a literal Misfortune. I think the happiness is mostly selfish. I don't think she really cared much for the daughter, but I still have empathy for the mom. Becoming a mother when you aren't ready sets you up for a life of struggle.
Idk why people keep saying this. She could have left with her daughter. It’s clear throughout the game that misfortune was being abused/neglected by both of her parents.
The problem i have with this ending is. It is sadder than it seems. The way little misfortune give her mommy eternal happiness is by dying, staying out of her life.
@@Sailorpiss something she could have always done she choose to stay for her kid instead of just being a single mother . No matter how you cut it she’s was a horrible mother
@@Razzberry_dollzExactly. There are people who forget that at specific moments in the game Misfortune told terrible anecdotes that her mother did to her and it is not that her mother was a horrible person, but she was a horrible mother. I feel that the end of the game is hard because it is recognizing that Misfortune's mother is happy because finally, with the death of the girl, a weight that she had been carrying for a long time was lifted and that eternal happiness felt like a kind of "I forgive you, mom. Please be happy and rebuild your life from scratch." English is not my first language, so sorry for my writing errors. xd
It seems that she’s dead from the start and her mother is sad. So no, the mother isn’t happy because Misfortune died, she’s happy in spite of it because Misfortune won the eternal happiness and gave it to her.
That's not exactly true, Misfortune dies while crossing the road at the start of the game, but before that she talks to her mother, and she doesn't respond, wich could mean that she was just ignoring her or was too drunk to really hear her
No. The point is that Mommy stayed with Daddy for Misfortune’s sake despite the abuse he dished out. Mommy’s Happiness is that she is able to leave the relationship for herself.
I always saw this in two ways: -She is happy because she no longer has the burden of an unwanted motherhood, which is a true thing for many mothers out there who never get to bond with their kids or moms who do love them, but secretly admit they would be happier without them. Wether we like it or not, this is pretty common in places where women can't freely chose motherhood. Since the dad is certainly going to jail after this, this means she can start her life over and move on. - The mom is thinking her child is finally free from her abusive life and is in a better place than whatever future was ahead of her under her abusive dad's influence or with her terrible motherhood. The dad certainly went to prison after this and now herself is also free from him, so she can start over. Her child is in a better place she herself could ever be. She did love her daughter, but she's aware she couldn't give her the life she deserved, so in the afterlife she'll be free and happy. It's sad, because at the end, the only way Misfortune could help her mother is by sacrificing herself. The good thing is there is an afterlife where this kid gets to be happy with Benji, so far, the only being that loves the way she needs. Hope she reunites some how with Hiro, I think Misfortune really needed a friend.
Now, I've never lost a kid but... I feel like it'd be a bit unfair to compare to the character of a game dying no matter how attached you became to it.
Misfortune's innocence and life will be away from the abusive, neglecting dad. It makes me cry so much bc her mom cares for Misfortune though she was never wanted, she's finally happy for Misfortune to be in peace 😕..
It's curious, we're never told that this light is the eternal happiness, moreover, we're inclined to believe the eternal happiness Morgo offered was a lie all along, but from the glitter, and the heart in Missfortune and her mom we all make the connection that this moment is where she gets that: Solace, Hope.
So tired of these people acting like the mother is a victim in these comments. Her mother was not good to her at all, didn't even want her, but Misfortune loves her mother regardless. As most little kids do because they don't know any better at that age.
she probably didn’t want misfortune after finding out red flags in her husband before getting married. it can be implied from misfortune’s sayings from the parent’s wedding picture. you forgot she had an abusive husband and that’s why she resorted to do bad stuffs. not saying she’s a good mother but terrible marriage could affect someone’s wellbeing mentally
If you pay close attention while you’re playing the game you’ll more than likely come to the conclusion that the one responsible for Misfortune’s death was most likely the husband (who was also a heavy drinker), you can piece together that the family was rather unstable and that the mother was rarely ever happy (mostly because of her husband) so her “eternal happiness” is her finally being free from the hell that was her everyday family life with a man she was unhappy with. My interpretation of this scene is that she finally came to terms with losing her daughter and then realizing that even though she lost her daughter she had gained that which she secretly wanted for so long - to be free and be “allowed” to be happy once again.
I think from the title of the game it already tell us that mom was happy because little miss misfortune is dead. But not because of she hates her daughter, but more like, she has been staying with her abusive husband just for the sake of her daughter as she don't want her daughter to have a incomplete family.... So now that she's dead, the mom can finally move on from this relationship
I saw a comment saying she could have played his game for weeks or even months after her death till we took the games control and I think she did since Morgo asked us "Did you hear that question before?" as one of the questions. She was a toy for him to play but since we took the control she realized the second game with us playing it. He didn't expect her to remember the last time because probably she didn't for so many times...
I feel.like missfortune's mother didnt deserved enternal happiness because what she did to her daughter. She neglect her but since her missfortune is pure she gave her mom her enternal happiness
Her daughter dies who she didn’t want anyway. And her alcoholic husband who she didn’t love cause he slept outside is prop going to jail for manslaughter. It’s the last fucked up things that happens to misfortune
Only a few games have made me cry. One of them is red dead redemption 2 but the one that really hit home further was the entire walking dead telltale collection.😭 rip Lee
If you didn’t get all the things your supposed to glitter, you walk into the cave thingy and Little Misfortune starts talking to people inside, saying something like “Wait, who are you?”
Sad part is like she gave her eternal happiness by dying..acting sad at first with cops and then she was really happy little cutey died..she did not smile she smirked
The moral of this story is to be strong, always find happiness and see the light in the face of life no matter how sad/tragic or scary it is. Throughout the game the littlegirl saw many tragic/horrible and scary events including brutal deaths, monsters etc. She also tells stories about her horrible abuse from her parents, and their fucked up life. Despite this, she somehow (or maybe due to her innocence) makes everything cute, happy and fun, and instantly removes sadness/awkwardness in many situations (more sparkles). So the ending means instead of letting the mother suffer a lifetime worth of mourning, and sadness for the loss of her daughter, whom was killed by her own husband, all the fire from little Misfortune's heart/sparkles removed the bitter sadness from her heart. It also reassured her, and told her not to be scared of being alone. Her soft somber smile means she now thought that her daughter is finally in a much better place, away from their hellish life. Also her abusive husband is now gone/arrested, giving her a second chance at life to find her own happiness.
@BIG Jack Horner Oh sorry,What I was saying their theory could be true because the mother could have ran her over but at the end she smiles because of eternal happinesses so I highly doubt it was the mothers fault
Her dad goes to prison, Mom gets to live her life without having to worry about 2 people instead of only one.... Yeah that's a happy ending. All y'all thinking hella negative deserve the biggest hug ever and I dend you as much love I possibly can.
I think a lot of you are making assumptions about the mom when I think we need to look at some big factors. In the first place, mom is an addict. She drinks and does drugs, she lives with a man who does the same things, she can't escape her life, she knows she brought a kid into all of this and does not know how to be a mom at all, she was forced to keep her baby, forced to get married - mommy's life was not a happy one and she was trying to hide behind a literal mask of addiction just to get by. The whole town seems to be filled with adults doing the same.
I think that it was more of a metaphore. You remember that Little MIssfortune tells her mother she will need to find her own happiness now? This ending shows mommy taking the mask off. This means that the mom isn't going to hide her emotions any more. She isn't going to engage in the behaviors that let her hide her true feelings. Mom is letting herself feel now and opening herself up to her feelings really has to be the first step to finding happiness.
Maybe Misfortunes purpose for being made was to make her mom happier. Her mom did not recognize her so the only thing that made her recognize was Misfortune dying. So Misfortune's purpose on the earth was to make her mom happy.
It’s sad seeing all the people interpreting the daughters death as the thing that determines her moms feelings. Other commenter is right, she dies at the beginning no matter what. This ending shows that a mother /could/ find peace and live a safe life and find happiness even after losing her daughter. It’s a glimmer of hope. It shows that her daughters ability to find happiness in her life was the gift in her mothers life. I’m a mom. My best friend is a day younger than me and committed suicide when we were 17. I think of her mother and pray for her happiness. It has shaped my motherhood because in my mind no matter how hard I try not everyone gets a full life, and I might lose her, so instead of worrying and fixating on the future I’m thankful for the gift of every moment with her from the beginning on and every day I have left. When I was a child my friends sister had an aneurism at school that killed her. She was seven. A child dying is not her freedom. She could have had freedom WITH her child running away. But she died. So it’s not an option. The daughter is gifting her with peace of mind, as it’s all she has left to give. Edit: further as a mom yeah what her mom did is objectively bad parenting but we also don’t know if the parents loved her. People are saying no because they are children (as everyone is someone’s child in a sense we’re here) but I don’t know how many are parents. I think many people grow ip in inter generational complex trauma. Abusive dads might love their kids and were beat by parents that loved them. Beating isn’t what love is, but the abuser might really love the person they’re hurting (wife, kids). The mom was hooking up with irresponsible men, drinking, bringing her. Terrifying terrible parenting. Selfish, horrible. But that also doesn’t mean the mom didn’t love her kid. Some people don’t deserve the people they love.
Theory time! Well during the whole game the mother didn't accept misfortune and she had to get married and she didn't want that eather. She wish she didn't get married and had a child, i believe that morgo gave the happiness to the mother to complete her wishes(didn't have a child and didn't get married)
I like to think that Misfortune's parents loved her, but because of troubled and unstable they were, they weren't able to be decent parents. I think Mummy found peace in knowing her daughter is in a better place.
The horrible fact that the mom hated her daughter that she wanted to abort and not marry the father to begin with , plus the fact she would drink and f#&@ people behind the dumpter at the store. LMF is so innocent 😢 im a grown man and I cried for LMF.
Explaintion: so the voice in little misfortune head is called margo and in the end in good ending little misfortune realized she already died in the beginning of the game when margo told her to cross the road... Her dad hit her with his car
Hey is that my buddy Sabo on the cloaths line? Thats totally Sabo hopefully that cat gets to hacking games mid development in retaliation for crunch hours. Context the sabocat is an IWW symbol, an old and militent labor union.
Wait, this is just my negative thinking, but i think the mother smile cuz her daughter die and her husband maybe go to jail. She smile after the police go, and wear a mask when the police still there..
