I've been experiencing the same thing and have been on Mounjaro since June. I am satisfied with my weight loss, but where I gain confidence from a slimmer waistline, I'm losing that confidence from a thinning hairline. I'm so glad I found this video. Thank you!
Increasing my protein intake has had a MASSIVE impact. I'm still really thin on top but it's starting to grow back. Hope you are able to get a handle on it, friend. ❤️🥰
Started with Mounjaro on August 4th for diabetes and weight loss. My co-pay has been $5 on my insurance. Went today to pick-up and co-pay was $285.😲 About had a heart attack. Apparently I'm in the donut hole already. Didn't know if anyone else has had this happen? I paid it but no eating out for the next month...been watching you since July. You have been extremely helpful. Ty
Hey Sandy, Did you increase dosage strengths? I've heard of that happening when going up to 10mg and then it goes back down at 7.5mg. Just a thought. That's a LOT of money but I suppose better than no insurance coverage at all. I hope it goes back down for you.
@@mindypweightloss I was one month on 2.5 mg, one month on 5 mg, one month on 7.5 mg, one month on 10 mg, and the 10 mg was $5. I'm sticking on the 10 mg for a while because it's working just fine. So going back for the second box of 10 mg was the $285. I'm in the same mindset as you, the $285 was a whole lot better than the $985. I'm on Medicare I'm almost 70 years old so I am not able to use the coupons at all. I tried that in July and got denied. So I'm going to have to come up with Plan B for next year. It's worth it to me I'm doing extremely well on this, so if I've got my choice of having my Manjaro or my luxuries that I have it's going to be the Manjaro. I think we're going to be seeing more of this, because a lot of the people on the insurance and the Mounjaro have not been on it long enough to go into the donut hole. So if anybody has any other ideas I am all ears. And Mindy again thank you for all your sensible information. Also that hair color looks stunning on you.
You are so delightful and always bring a smile to my face. You are also one brave girl to put it all out there like you do. I just loved when you were gushing about your hair once it was done. So love the color that you got. So proud of you, your channel, and your weight loss! Love your new haircut!! You look fabulous!!!
Thank you for letting us into your life. I hope you know how much it means to know someone is going through similar situations. I have learned to take things with more grace from watching your videos. I am loving your cut and color! It absolutely fits your personality and styling with that dress was a great choice.
I'm so glad I saw your video! I love your personality☺️ I have been on Mounjaro injections since August 23, 2022. In the last two weeks I have noticed my hair looking really flat and different, but I didn't dwell on it. My hair has always been thin but was ok. Then when I was in my 50s I lost a lot, when people usually do. I wear it just like you've been wearing yours, straight with a part down the middle. My husband asked me if I was losing hair about 3 or 4 days ago. And I went and looked in the mirror and ran my finger thru my hair. I was surprised to see I have very few strands, especially in the front, but all over my head. The front is really bad, looks like it's all receding. I am absolutely sure that Mounjaro has caused this. I don't want to lose anymore hair, I'm kind of freaking out about it. I am so sorry you have lost so much hair. I think I'm going to have to discontinue Mounjaro. I am pretty scared! I've had diabetes for 20 years and have side effects to every medicine! The Mounjaro and Jardiance together is working, as far as my numbers go. I just don't know if the hair will come back once I get off of it. Do you know if it will come back? I asked a pharmacist today over the phone and she was very non-commental. I am diabetic and I'm on the 5 dosage so far. I'd rather get off Mounjaro and not lose any more hair though. I'm between a rock and a hard place and I never thought this would happen. I have been searching to see if anyone else had a problem with Mounjaro and hair loss. I'm so glad I found your video. I hope that all your hair comes back in. I absolutely love your hair after getting a cut and fixed up. You look beautiful!
Thanks, Kathy... I totally get the fear. I do not attribute my hair loss to Mounjaro. It is far more likely that it is due to the weight loss and nutritional deficiencies. As soon as I addressed the issues I mentioned in this video (more protein, iron, etc) my hair started improving almost immediately. Obviously it's something you need to consider yourself but if MJ is doing good things for you I would try addressing some of the things I mentioned before discontinuing it. (Of course talk to your Dr first)
LOVE,LOVE, LOVE the new hairdo and color! Even if the hair stuff isnt working, the shorter hair style, the specific cut and the darker color make it LOOK more full and Mindy, its down right CUTE!!! You would SEE if tiny hairs starting to grow on your scalp if you were having new hair growth. If you dont see them, unfortunately, its not causing new hair growth. The products, like many shampoos & conditioners may be making your existing hair strands appear thicker but thats about all it can do. Honestly, the vitamins and increased protein intake is probably doing more than the products but I'll cross my fingers and toes for ya anyway!! Ive been wondering if you hit that 100 lb loss and we dont even know it yet???!!! LOL See you Wednesday, or two weeks ago Friday or ?? lmao 🤣😂🥰
Hi Mindy! Your hair looks ahhhh-mazing!! I love your choices of music in this video, especially the jazzy one for your hair stuff. You mentioned you are a lazy a couple times and I just wanted to say - no you are not!! If you are talking about “lazy” with hair, yes, I totally get not wanting to spend a ton of time on hair each day!! As always, thank you for sharing all this with us!!
Love the cut! Adore the color! Overall it makes you look more youthful too. And I do think your hair looks fuller and thicker, at least from the camera’s perspective.
Omg!! Girrrrrrl... your new do looks so good!! It frames your face so well and you can see the weightloss even more now!! Also, I swear I see fuller hair!! Xoxo
Bone broth, as well as a collagen can help a lot! It would be worth incorporating if you can! I lost a ton of hair when I lost 100 pounds a few years ago. I was devastated. It took about 6 months of consistent use of those things and I finally had all these baby hairs sticking out everywhere 🤣 your hair looks SO GOOD!!! I love it. Thank you for sharing your journey!!!!!
I had gastric sleeve surgery back in 2014 and experienced hair loss. I have been using biotin chewable since and it feels like it has helped a lot. However,I am 65, and some of my hair loss is due to medications over the years. I have been on mourjaro for eight weeks starting my ninth week this week. I have only lost 20 pounds, but my sugar diabetes has dropped drastically.
First of all WOW your hair cut and color is gorrrrggggg on you!!! You look amazing!!! I have two suggestions the first is nioxin does work please give it at least another 60 days. I know it doesn’t make your hair feel the greatest so what I do is use another conditioner on ends only (no where near your scalp you do not want to clog the follicle). Second suggestion and most important would be adding in a radio frequency comb. It will deliver oxygen and help your serum to penetrate deeper. You can find them on amazon for $50 sometimes even less. Most important thing is to get those follicles as healthy as possible so they can produce the thickest strongest hair! I can already see an improvement. Keep up the good work consistency is key❤
Yes please do! Doesn’t really matter which one they have some super fancy ones but a basic one works just as well. it will make the serum a lot more effective. You can also use it on your face with skincare as well if you decide to get buck wild 😆
You look beautiful. I love that look for you. I prefer long hair too. I feel you. But it still looks beautiful on you and you saved your hair from so much stress by cutting it. Please make sure you are getting enough vitamin C each day. I can't stress that enough. Keep us in prayer 🙏 That God will favor us in our continued MJ journey without any setbacks, just continued success. I can't stop praying about it 🙏 much luv!! H❤
Omg Mindy your hair looks so good I love it !!!Looks fuller for sure!! I've been there I always wire long hair and I was getting thinner on top so I went shorter up to my shoulders and I just feel more confident that I have hair it looks so good on you girl!!
Hope this helps I was losing hair for a Very long time until I added this to my diet. Iron is one of the most important things needed for hair however, we can not do well with only pills. I make energy bars with almonds, cashew nuts, fennel, walnuts, chickpea flour roasted well, and clarified butter. You can add stevia or low GI sugar to help. I eat 2 small bars in the morning by chewing slowly and letting my body be happy. This has helped me stop shedding.
Omg! I love your hair!! So pretty!! And what is it with the husbands liking long hair? My husband gets so aggravated when I get my hair cut bc I usually get 3 inches cut off. 🤣
Love the hair cut and color! I was going to say to me it looks thicker. Especially after your hair cut :) I also have had a lot of hair loss :(. I’ve been taking collegian and biotin and it seems to be helping!
It's so hard to be patient for growing out hair. I cut mine all off to a short bob when it was thin. Now I regret it big time. I'm jealous of your and every other persons ponytail, lol.
@@mindypweightloss I love your new do. I haven't heard you say if you use a satin pillowcase. I buy the cheap ones off Amazon. They help a little with hair tugging and less sleep wrinkles in the morning.
First of all LOVE that color combo and the cut is so great on you. I'm pretty tempted to copy. I might send a pic or two to my stylist and see if she can do it & what it would cost. Second, is it my imagination or do you seem a little jittery? I've seen a lot of people mention vibration plates and wondered if you were using one (I don't know how they are used) if you were just shaky nervous please don't take offense, I just never noticed before. You just did this, right? So we will still see some videos with older cut? I didn’t know that headband curls technique I may give that a shot, I miss my curls, since getting pregnant with my daughter my curls have never been the same. She'll be 7 in less than 2 weeks and just VERY recently the curls are popping up after a shower but falling right out. Anyway, love!
Thanks Melissa, So, the jittery-ness you saw was me literally freezing my butt off on the back porch. 🤣🤣🤣 I love filming back there because the light is so much better than in my apartment but it's been in the 30's in the mornings here now. 🙃
@@mindypweightloss omg please wear a coat! Wow lol 😆 I can't even imagine trying to keep my thoughts straight being that cold. Take care of you! (You do a great job even shivery lol)
I’m just going to cut amd be serious about getting all this weight off. I can’t go through this again. This goes to show how dangerous this weight is. Your hair will come back full after weight loss. Get healthy. Worry about that hair later
Hi just wanted tooooo you are looking amazing you can see you are really happy with the confidence your hair has brought you ,it really suits ,dont be afraid to treat yourself every so often ,you deserve it ,you look so youthful happy , and if you are having issues with your hair still ,try using shampoo called caffeine it helps with hair growth and you will see the results very quick :)
I too had my hair fall out after I had Covid. Your body has gone through so much stress. Have you been to a dermatologist so they can make sure there aren’t any underlying reasons for your hair loss? It doesn’t hurt just to make sure. Right now your hair is in the Telogen effluvium (the losing hair cycle) and you want it in the Anogen hair phase( active phase of growing) so it might take some time. Watch Dr Dray or Dr Sam Ellis on You tube. They both have done videos on this. I wish you the very best. Just try to be patient and know your hair will grow back. 😊
Thanks so much. I have looked at both of them at the recommendation of some other subscribers. I'm doing my best to stay patient... it isn't one of my strong suits... 😬
@Mindy Pedersen Do a lot of research like I am before deciding to try it. Titanium blades, right length, can't use certain products afterwards, etc. but from what I've researched so far, it seems like it might help stimulate hair growth & is relatively inexpensive and no drugs.
Hi Marina, I'm pretty certain the majority of my hair loss was because of COVID (I've had it twice now) and rapid weight loss with inadequate protein intake. I'm doing my best to fix the protein issue now but the damage has been done. 💜
@@mindypweightloss they are Indian herbs sold in powder form. It has helped me greatly. You can buy products with it in there already or make your own. But Amla is one and has been scientifically proven to help hair loss. Rosemary too. I add to my shampoo or conditioner
Hey Mary, I do not. I was losing my hair before I started taking Mounjaro, and it has been growing now that I'm getting enough protein and taking the supplements I mentioned.
I'm actually on Spironolactone and been taking biotin religious for over a year and have not noticed much difference. My hair started thinning even more after starting Wegovy. I also I have PCOS as well. I've become super self conscious of my thinning hair that I'm almost thinking of getting extensions. I've started using Vegamour hair serum for the past almost 4 months. I have now introduced the shampoo and conditioner and also using The Ordinary multi peptide serum for hair density. I feel like it's making a small difference. I might also need a good hair cut as well. We shall see!!! Good luck!
@@BlossomBearMomma I'm so sorry to hear about your hair loss. It's definitely a difficult thing to process. I'm still very self conscious but the hair cut helped more than I thought it would. I was nervous that getting rid of what little hair u had would make it seem even more thin but, I feel like it's more full of life and it doesn't have all of that weight pulling on it. 🥰💜
@@AlesisAnass one thing I've learned from research... there are MANY reasons for hairloss and not all treatments work well for all of them... so I'll just keep trying until I find something. 🙃
Off topic of hair but I just came from my Dr appt and she said as of now the coupon is no longer working for people with out diabetes even if you've had the coupon for some time so no more grandfathering in either 😫 she said I can pay cash of about $1000 for 15mg pens and she will help me divide them up as I only need 5mg and that way I'll get more for my money. She said I might even be able to make it a year paying about $3k. Which is still way more than I want to pay. This is all just so disappointing 😞 💸 but maybe something will change soon and the FDA will finally approve the medication for weight loss and we can use our insurance. Or maybe I should talk to my Dr about a compound pharmacy like you had done. IDK 🤷♀️
Hey Lisa, There's no way your Doctor could know that. It varies from pharmacy to pharmacy. I have subscribers that had their Rx filled with the coupon as recently as yesterday. There's so much misinformation being spread around right now and I'm not sure why. I wouldn't get too upset just yet. Try filling it and see what happens.
She said she couldn't even fill out the prescription without having to put in a diagnosis code. I'm so confused. Maybe I'll call my pharmacy and see if they'll take the coupon. Problem is tho she already wrote one for 15mg
@@lisamahan2097 no you cannot split up a 15 mg dose- you said your on 5 mg. It’s a one time injection so you would not be able to split a 15 mg dose into 3 shots. It sounds like your Dr doesn’t know what they are talking about. 😂
Take a look at Curly Proverbz you tube channel. She does alot of hair growth challenges using natural products. She also has a facebook group and alot of people have posted pictures with results. Some of the woman have health issues that caused them to lose hair and they had great results. She uses products you can make yourself and she started her own product line but you dont have to use her products.
