Cut, cut, cut. Nothing better than to be the first person to see the inner beauty. I noticed you pushing pretty hard. That will eventuallyake your hands tired and wear out the blade prematurely. I still find myself doing it. I try to slow down. It will take longer but not as tiring. Love the new saw. Try to stay dry.😊
Congrats on the new saw! 👍😃 WoW!! Stunning 😍! The last one made me think of islands 🏝️. I’m looking forward to seeing more cuttings. And even possibly tumbling from the smaller pieces. I would love to get a piece from you.
Congrats on the new saw Ariel! I got the same saw a few months ago along with the 8" flat lap. I was so excited for my first cut. Like you, I cut a few so-so rocks for practice. Fearing what happened to you, I plan on putting a ball valve in the drain port. BTW, Ariel means lion, or lioness of God in Hebrew. My boy kitty shares your name.
Polishing will remove blade/cut marks. You're pushing/forcing the cut. Slow down, let the blade do the cutting and youll have less breakage. Especially at the end of the cut. You cant stop all fractures but, can mitigate them by taking your time and going slowly.
Three suggestions. 1. The longer your rock is the greater the chance of binding your blade if you are hand guiding it. The same for the height. 2. Use a simple gravity siphon to get the sludge out of the well below the blade. Agitate the water with one hand while you are siphoning. 3. Dry your blade with a paper towel at the end of the session.
Congratulations again on the new saw! And those were some awesome cuts! Rogue really sent you some awesome material! Have so much fun discovering the hidden beauty inside rocks!
I really need one of these. I have a couple tubs full of big geodes I've love to slab up eventually. I'd just be afraid of cutting my finger off lol. Saws scare me. I've been enjoying tumbling smaller rocks, but I diffidently need something like this for my bigger ones. These are all so pretty btw!
I was worried about that too, but since it’s a grinding disk and not a blade you won’t cut your fingers. I have seen other creators literally touch the disk while it was running so that made me feel a lot better!
Awesome, i want one now. I have a bucket of rocks that have been waiting for a couple years. Oh, a little flashback to your labradorite video. I saw someone using corn syrup in the pre polish and polish stages to keep them from banging around too much, plus they also sent it through a 1000 grit stage. So it went 80,'220, 600, 1000, syrup and pre polish, corn syrup and polish. Imma try it on randos that aren't as shiny as I want first to see how it goes.
Oh My Gosh! I just found you! I saw one of your vids on Google; I'm ecstatic. I LOVE rocks, and the rocks I just saw you cut open are beyond beautiful. I did sub so that I can follow you on utube. Thank you, Ariel; let's get cutting...❤😊
You’re so cute I remember when I first got my saw I kinda acted just like that. Also, not only your face ears and eyes, but your skin silica particles on your skin. Can’t affect your skin. Kind of think of it as if you were taking a bath full of that stuff it’s on your skin don’t let it dry on your skin rinse it off or wear gloves And I noticed that you were pushing your rock into the saw. I actually go behind the saw and pull the rock towards me. I think it works better you decide which way you’d like to do it but it’s really a cool thing I love my 10 inch saw too. They’re amazing, all right great keep doing it
I use a wet saw daily . I've got several and change the water if the pump stops working or I move to another job site. Don't worry if you leave the water it won't hurt anything. Never got a address to send you some rocks from Mississippi. I find putting my saw in a kiddy pool saved a ton of mess
Oh that is a great idea! I might have to start doing that 🤣 Yes sorry about the address, I haven't setup a PO box yet but I will let you know if/when I do!
Great video! I recently got into rockhounding, and definitely not considering a saw blade for awhile, but I was curious if you were scared to use the saw? Have you used it before and have some experience or did you take a class? Genuinely curious because I would love to eventually cut some of my finds, but also scared to use the saw blade!
I have a 6” funnel and I got a 3ft +or - adequate length to fit the tip nicely and drain into a 5 gallon. Pull the plug and no mess to drain. I also have a 1-2 gallon shop vac to remove the sludge. I generally scrape out as much of the sludge as I can then the vac. The vacuum is handy for spills over rags. Love your videos 👍🏻
I clean my small rock saw (6") out with a big sponge. It takes squeezing out the water a few times but a sponge and bucket makes for a pretty clean dry saw without too much mess
So so beautiful hun. Please be real careful with your hands. Yikes, if you can wear some kind of protective gloves. If the rock snaps or the position changes , it could catch your hands. We all would not want that to happen. Home Depot Gloves 🧤❣️👍
It is not a good idea to wear gloves while using a saw like those. If the glove fabric gets caught, it can pull your hand into the saw. Ironically, I worked at the Home Depot for 15 years, and safety videos were assigned monthly.
Just started watching your videos, I'm in Cleveland which limits finds, I tend to look for rocks that look like mountains or mesas. Your videos make me smile, you are just having so much fun!
Saws make tons of sludge and it’s only worse with oil based saws. I clean my saw every two weeks. One hint to keep in mind since you have a water based saw is you will need to remember to towel dry you saw blade after the end of your cutting sessions or your blade will rust. If it’s oil based you don’t have to deal with this but the sludge gets much much worse. I would use paper towels to cleanup the sludge. If you care for your saw well it will last for a long time and treat you to a lot of fun rock cutting sessions.
you are prettier than any gem ! I'm old fat and happily married , I'm not hitting on you, strictly making an observation.......take it for what it is, a compliment . have a great life.
I laughed when you explained how to pronounce your name because my middle name is Arielle, and it just reminded me of my mom being furious with people pronouncing it with the emphasis on the A instead of the E.
You should get a hold of the guy on exploring Alabama he has all different kinds of color of slag I don't know if you can cut it on your machine or not
Im Ariel too but it's pronounced like aerial. Would've been real rude of my mom to double up on the "elle" sound in my first AND middle name lol. So glad you get to cut your rocks now! I love that kind of content.
