Thanks for share, Im sad to see the once beautiful Dundee has been ripped down and replaced with one could only call glorifeid cattle sheds,,, Dundee was full of great tartraian and mudflood buildings,, there are still some left but not a fraction comparing to when I was a child growing up there. Ive been gone 40 years and hardly recognise the place,, Looks like my old house in old Kirk st completely gone.
We had the wee shop at 2 Muirton Road in the mid 1950s. Trains were still running. Anyone remember Teal Delanzo's chippy at the corner of Whorterbank or Leishman in Logie Street, "The Spot for bacon".
You could walk West and follow the old railway line from Lochee Station. It would take you to the old Lochee West (now demolished) station which was at the foot of Elmwood Road
Was Scotland ever bombed by the Germans in the Second World War? I asked myself. And found with interest the answer: "Yes Indeedy" And to most people's surprise the town most often attacked was Peterhead in the northeast as it was the first urban area spotted by the Luftwaffe when they launched their missions from Norway. Peterhead, raided 28 times, is said to be the second most often hit target in the UK - second of course to London. The main cities in Scotland were bombed: Aberdeen with 24 raids, Fraserburgh 23, Edinburgh 18, Montrose 15 and Glasgow 11. There was no mention in the article about how often Dundee took it on the chin. In all there were about 500 air bombings in Scotland with the worst loss of life in the Clydebank raid in March 1941. (Source book: Luftwaffe over Scotland by Les Taylor). Now I couldn't have guessed this although I know as much about WW 2 as most of our generation, I bet most people today (outside of the UK) could not have imagined Scotland was bombed much from a France based German air force. But we forget about the early capitulation of Norway!
Well done I enjoyed seeing where I grew up. This would have been really good if you'd googled the answers before you went though, maybe next time. Regardless of that I thank you for taking the trouble to make and uplooad the video and I hope you enjoyed your trip.
Thanks for watching. I actually do Google all the time when out walking. I call it woogling 😂😂, but sometimes you just can’t find the answers you want .
You definately walk so much in the week Stu, 10000 steps is easy peasy for you lol :P :) I dont think Ive been to Dundee, think Ive driven through it but dont think Ive walked around in City before - shock! Great vid as always :) xxxx

Yeah Im a few windows away from that non haunted bridge. all the hundreds of times ive passed that place ive never noticed saturn on the wall before. spitfires were our team, pure own goal then haha.
Couldn’t mind where you stayed . Knew it was that area somewhere. Was gonna just do a “SPiS type” FRANKIIIIIE shout but bottled it. I couldn’t fit in the title “ I got the train from Arbroath and I decided to walk to Lochee” just a tad long 😂
