This is incredible, i don't know how i haven't seen this sooner, this is all so wonderfully presented, written and drawn. Im gonna watch all your videos now cuz its a crime that i havent! also thank you for the shout out at the end, glad I could give some inspiration. though seeing this makes me wanna step up my game haha.
I like the detail of the elk creatures being potentially nothing more than myth, maybe the leader/spiritual leader can claim to have a pair of horns from said elk or even a living elk, and that’s how he gained power
4:27 It's funny you should talk about falling into the longsword trap, because the size of the sword with those proportions actually looks like a longsword. Your expression of your soldiers' arms and armour is impressive, and I can see both cultural and practical considerations that you've made when making them, shows how much creative process went into it. Awesome work :)
Love seeing people worldbuild, especially when great art like this is involved. Curious to see more! EDIT: Also thanks for shouting out other worldbuilders out at the end, there. Will be sure to check 'em out.
This is incredibly inspiring to watch! I love world building and always struggle with how to share it in a video but you've managed to make it interesting, educational, and entertaining. 😊
I love this so much! The depth of your worldbuilding is so inspiring, and this video is just beautiful. Morne is such a wonderful setting. Thanks for the recommendations!
I'm not someone who comments a lot, but i just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing this fascinating world you currently create. I fell in love with your designs from the first video i saw and i'm continuously amazed by your creativity. Also extra points for all the imaginative ways you incorporate historical armour, weapons & such, it really elevates your art. I'm always looking forward to your videos, be they sculptures or lore(drawings). Once again, thank you :3
Thanks for sharing your world. Im trying to become a better artist to show my own world building projects and your words of encouragement gave me more confidence.
Great video. This was recommended to me by Monstergarden. Glade he did because your work is amazing and very detailed. Subbed and liked, look forward to seeing more.
Agir armor reminds me a lot of ottoman aromor in the 16th/17th century especially with those plates with mail. Looks amazing. Also I would love to see somene use some kind of scale armor. It would look amazing and historically scale was widely used by nomadic cultures that rely on cav like the agir. It s also a very cheap way to armor a horse.
Spot on! That is where I got the inspiration at first, but I’ve later found examples of similar styles being used much earlier (pre-14th c) in Central Asia and the Middle East. I love the idea of scale armor for the mounts especially. Don’t be surprised if that shows up sooner or later :) Thank you!
3:00 I like how you went with natural ears. Cropped ears are an unnecessary cosmetic surgery that some real world countries have outlawed today. (Interestingly, I thought cropping was a newer thing, but a quick web-search tells me that apparently even in ancient times humans would cut dogs ears for aesthetics/fighting ☹️)
Definitely better at/having more fun drawing women. And one faction (Maraki) have more women by a small majority. There are male knights/guards/soldiers and everything else too though.
All over the place! For these designs european and asian medieval-ish history. For the whole worldbuilding project in general I’d say mainly Water Margin, Stormlight Archive, A Song of Ice and Fire and Princess Mononoke. I’ll make a stand alone video about it if people are interested.
One faction (Maraki) is strictly matriarchal, while in the other two factions men and women are equal legally and culturally with some variation between different tribes or families.
