As someone who daily'd at smartcar for awhile, I gotta attest to how incessantly reliable these things are. On the surface, parts are cheap and kinda crude, but the actual parts on the car that keep it rolling and getting you where the fuck you need to be refuse to falter. It's really a fantastic machine.
Driven three Smart cars over 20 years in UK and have never had a problem of any consequence apart from when some idiot in a large BMW saloon decided to tailgate me on approach to a town and when I forced to apply brakes decided to rear end me several years ago ,fortunately minimal damage and idiot driver admitted they totally at fault damage fixed and good as new.
@@seang1946 depends on how well the car disperses kinetic energy around the passenger! a t-bone scenario especially after a certain speed has a very high mortality rate anyways hard to have much hope in any car there

Smart is actually owned by Mercedes and Mercedes engineers were involved in its chassis and suspension design to make this "grocery cart 😅 "as stable as possible for its weight and supershort wheelbase
If you guys have never watched the crash testing they have done on these little shits it's NUTS! They can take a hell of a hit. Even better than a Mercedes.
@@ddevil4980 yeah thats because theres no crumple zones wich is what absorbs the hit so it doesnt become an oversize ping pong ball and a crash will feel much more violent in the smart car so its a good thing that a Mercedes will smash up aslong as the cockpit shell stays in tact where the smart car all you have is the cockpit shell
