Hey I know it's hard man. My life turned out very differently, but I started in the same place as you. At least you have your youth, you know? Find a good woman, that's my advice. A career woman so you can have the safety of having 2 steady salaries, also a woman that is low maintenance, and you try to be low maintenance too, then make sure you both don't sweat the small stuff. This was so intense dude. I wish more people can see content like this. People are so quick to judge others who are in tough situations without even realizing the unfortunate series of events that got them in that situation. It's so hard articulating the pressure to work hard to people who have stable families they can always fall back on. When your entire family depends on you it feels like you are carrying the weight of the world on your back.

nah it was the sister who did the most damage, you take her outta the equation and none of these issues happen or of they do, the impact is minimal. I have witnessed very similar situations in other countries, the family model especially the modern one is prone to failing their daughters. They clearly did a good job with the son. Daughter just contracted entitlement. I call it Curse of adoration. Once u get it, is almost incurable.

I can relate, My parents( actually my dad) took advantage of me financially the last 3 yrs I lived at home before joining the Navy 3 months before I turned 18( mama co-signed) I worked more/less full time and went to school and every cent nearly went towards the family’s budget. My first payroll job when I turned 14( you had to be atleast 16 , but we lied on applications) . The pre computer era made this possible when the requested copy of a birth certificate never arrives and nobody follows up on it, made this possible. Anyway in those 3 yrs I managed to buy my first car with what very little of my pay I was allowed to keep, but my dad kept the car for himself, when he did that I saved and bought my first motorcycle which he sold while I was in Basic Training! This was many, many yrs ago. Today, I’m a grand father, with grandkids from 3 of my 4 adult children, and I can honestly say not only have I never taken a nickel from any of them, but there was always lots of cash handed out by dear old dad and my youngest actually drove a brand new car in high school ( no I’m not rich, just generous . I have always resented the kind of man my dad was and I vowed to not ever let anyone harbor those thoughts of me, because they never go away , they are regrets that race forward with the mention of a name.If I am to be resented, it will have to be my views or politics that differ, or I asked someone to do something I myself would not do( not happening). Anyway good luck young man, you remind me of a guy that got kicked around yrs ago but had a strong work ethic and a level head on his shoulders. You will be just fine! Just Keep Diggin Young Man !

Even if you had given everything, all your salaries and whatnot to your parents you would have still remained in their debt (Unless they tortured you or something), and here you are whining because of a car lol. Further, you're kinda comparing your dad (Who could have been an asshole, we don't know) to his dad, what also sucks.
@floursandroses
@floursandroses 2 года назад
I am also a grandparent from 2 of my 3 children. My mother was an addict. I can't relate to the theft as far as stealing from me because I was gone as soon as I could get out and she got sober when I turned 21. But I relate to you when you vowed to not be like your parent. I gave my children nothing but love, attention, and a 💯 alcohol and drug free life that I never received. I know that Josh recently found out his mother and sister were using drugs during this whole period and that is why they used kept using him for money. He also stated he thought his father might be using as well. My mom turned her life around and became the best grandmother in the world. I don't know my father. He is a very evil person and is serving 2 life sentences in Florida state prison for a very sick crime. Being a grandmother is the best feeling in the world. I love every moment of spending time with my children and grandchildren. I will never understand how parent can take advantage of their own children like your father and Josh's did. I don't know why the commenter before mine decided to make such a rude comment. The whole point of these videos and also what every channel owner wants is for people to comment. Whether it is because they relate to their story or any other reason. Comment helps the channel. What your father did was not ok and only someone who has serious issues themselves would comment what that person did. It's common sense and family values.

Joshau, your story really hit me in the feelers on many levels. We all have our problems and issues but it takes a courage to make such a heartfelt video. I'm sure that so many people can relate and watching you talk about your issues and how you're dealing with them will really motivate others to help themselves out of the pit of despair we often find ourselves. Sometimes we forget that we're not the only person in the world facing problems and it feels like the world is against you. But even if a person like you who seems to have so much more of their life has such a burden on their mind, but yet prevails to achieve and follow their goals, it's a real motivator. Your videos are really motivating and you have a positive impact on so many people. Don't forget that you mean so much to so many people. All the views and comments come from real people, a lot of whom respect and appreciate you a massive amount. Lol, an all knowing all loving and all powerful being could come up witmh any number of life situations that could build someone up into a “good man” and all he could come up with was to have his parents steal and max out his credit card then take further advantage of his generosity almost destroying his life while destroying his trust in them and eventually taking everything and destroying their relationship ! Seems like god could have at least found a way to accomplish the same thing that didn’t involve his parents being huge assholes and taking advantage of their only son killing his self esteem. Either he’s not good, and he just wanted to hurt Josh but he was already of such great character that despite the evil meddling of this lesser deity he managed to get through it. The other alternative, and the more likely one according to Occam’s Razor, is that God doesn’t have anything to do with this becasue such a being doesn’t exist.

There's a book I remember reading called: "The Black Man's Guide Out of Poverty" by Aaron Clarey. There is a chapter where he speaks about the hindrance of helping family and the costs of culture and moral duty - he predominantly talks of sons feeling they need to support their single mothers as "man of the house". In your case, your parents didn't make poor choices but fell on extremely hard times and you made it your moral duty to help them. Your plan was admirable and likely would have worked if it were simply you and your dad. You felt compelled to support your father, your father felt compelled to support your mother, your mother felt compelled to support your sister, but your sister felt compelled to support nobody; she is the most worrisome character in this story. I'd focus some attention on building her self-esteem. If she's unresponsive to help, cut her off because watching the people you love self-destruct is painful.

Joshua, you didn't destroy your family. Life in America has changed since 1980. The laws don't work for the common man anymore. They work for the rich. The country is in dire straits. The old rules don't apply. And, new laws about credit are coming into being soon. More info later.

I lost my dad when i was 14. In 34 now. There is a moment of every day where i literally have to keep myself up on my feet because i get hit with such a deep momentary sadness that i forget how to breathe and i have to will myself not to start crying. Everyday. I never had a chance to help him. My brother... I disowned him when i was 24. Drugs. Stealing. Lack of concern for his choices and i was struggling to find my way alone in life. After my father had died i got family hopped, my mother was not involved in my life to that point, and basically enrolled myself in a night school program to graduate 2 years early from high school so i could legally work 40 hours a week to support myself. Anyway... My brother died from a drug overdose a few Christmas's ago. I hadn't talked to or seen him or even thought of him for years, and even over the phone with the police as they told me i was very heartless about the situation. I went to i.d. his remains and see him before i called our sister and grandmother to inform them of the situation. Those few moments alone in the hospital room with his body was as tough if not tougher than losing my dad. I never gave him a chance and i have to own that for the rest of my life. Long story short. Family blood is no thicker than any other blood. It runs just as fast from a stranger. Looking back now, i wish i had the willpower to not just suck it up from day to day when the memory hits me. I wish i had the ability to try when it might have made a difference. I appreciate this video. Im so happy i subscribed to your channel.

That’s deep. Thanks for sharing. Grief is painful. I can’t imagine losing my father at 14. Have you ever received counseling? Addiction stole your brother.
@wolfumz
@wolfumz 2 года назад
I worked as a drug counselor for homeless and probationers. With your brother, I think you did the best you could. There's no manual for how to deal with addiction in the family, and people who haven't been through it sometimes struggle to understand how painful, enraging, and terrifying it is to go through. You didn't cause his addiction, and you couldn't have cured it, either. I really hope you'll consider professional counseling to talk about your losses. It can seem silly, that talking and doing these thought exercises is supposed to help with something so enormous and painful... but you won't know unless you try. If you can find a trauma-informed therapist, who is experienced/willing to work on any trauma that comes up, it could make a big difference. It did for me. I went though stuff during my childhood and my addiction where I didn't even realize i was carrying around this trauma for years and years. Once I worked on it with a professional, I noticed differences within the first six weeks. I started to really feel good. I started to feel normal. I wasn't wracked by the same old cyclical thoughts and memories anymore. I stopped having so many nightmares. I got clean and sober, and stayed that way. It's been many years, now, since I started that therapy, and internally, I feel like a new person. Just know, recovery is possible.

I had a very similar thing happen to me in 2008, and sort of perpetuated itself throughout most of my adult life. My dad left my brother and I in a house that was foreclosing and I had no idea until one day a sheriff came to our door and asked for my dad. I had told them that he hasn't been around in months and I don't know where to find him. I was in total shook, I was 18 years old, my brother was 15. My dad wasn't answering his phone, we had 30 days to be out with no where to go. My brother ended up dropping out of hs and living on the streets for 10 years before he got his shit together. I could go on about this and what happened in between the 11 years since then. Life isn't easy it's not meant to be. We are all heading towards the same fate. We have to help the people we love the best we can and if they aren't grateful for the help and reciprocate even it just by staying out of trouble then you have to move on and take care of yourself. I'm sorry about your loss, and I hope the best for the future of your family. I enjoy your insight on things and how you share stuff like this. Kind Regards.

I fervently agree. I'd never satisfy them and, unfortunately, longed for their acceptance, love and warmth. Bit unreasonable to seek validation, love and acceptance from someone who's oblivious to those concepts/feelings; might as well be alien language. There's only so many times you can silently forgive them. Soon or later, you're going to have to live your life and we're not getting younger lol

RedMatter dating is not a necessity and a lot of times if you access the situation at hand it can be seen as a luxury. A luxury many of us can’t afford. I have certain financial goals I need to meet this year and living at home with my parents will allow me to save and accomplish those goals. Such a building a home. As soon as my home is done I will gladly open the doors to dating. Also bare in mind some partners don’t want to contribute to the cause but are just there taking to from it.

The people who really have it rough stop functioning. Their brains literally stop working properly, eg it becomes impossible to even speak fluently, can't find words properly, sentences come out all jumbled etc, concentration gone, memory impaired, and many other things. Anyone who's successful and fluent and functional isn't anywhere near this. They might be unhappy and whatnot, but negative feelings is a much earlier stage. The problem is you never hear from the people who are truly destroyed, they're not the ones telling their story on social media.

12:07 "We didn't want to put more burden to you... So instead we stoled $5,000 from you" What kind of thinking is that? When my brother died, my mom didn't have any money to pay for the funeral. (The bank refused to take my brother's money to pay the funeral, because she asked "too late". Assholes). So she asked me, my ant, my father and my sister for money. Of course, me and my sister were the last on the list, but she asked anyway if it was okay. I refused, because of college, but my sister accepted. She never stole anything from me and she's still paying everyone back the money she asked. (Except for my father, I think. He gave her the money, for what I understood). That's what a parent should do. Scratch that, that's what a decent human being should do. I can't believe some people would actually stole for their own children. That's fucked up.
