Remember when the guitarist of every great band back in the late 70's to 80's were the focus of great music. How many can you name from the great ones? Probably all of them. Saki puts together a lady guitar show in tokyo, i think its called just that with about 7 or 8 super guitarist. Its entertaining. Only 1 set is shown on youtube "guitar girls naon yaon 2018". RU-vid put on by "Show Ya" the godmothers of all these lady groups. Once you fall in the rabbit hole you might as well look around. Quite the story
You want a gathering of Japanese guitarists battling on stage? Watch any of the Naon-no-Yaon videos. Some of them are called "Japanese girl guitar collection" or similar things. Not 50, but anywhere between 7 and around 20 of them on stage together.
I found them 10 days ago and I am still reeling. I even ordered and watched their Livestream last week. Fortunately, having ordered 2 Band Maid Livestreams I knew how to do it and knew what to expect so I got up at 2:30 AM and it was fantastic! They had others also on but it was 3 hours long. They sold me immediately when the first song I heard was Oiran and then listened to Whole Lotta Rosie and The Trooper and then I had to listen to them all. I love Tamu lol. They are all great though. Your reaction says it all!
Mary's Blood "Bloody Birth day" is a HEAVY! song. Saki has some complicated riffs and mari is a locomotive at the drum set on this song. This is a pumper you feel though the video. A must see and listen. The more you watch these ladies, their rank keeps going up the chart. There is so much charm in their music to appriciate the more you listen to them. Every song sounds different but you know its them. Saki!
There are such collaborations, and Saki is usually involved, often the organizer. This is the first edition of a recurring event,, World Guitar Girls Collection, 2017. This vid is directly responsible for me jumping into JRock/JMetal. Murata Tamu drums (Nemophila), Yashiro white guitar (Mary’s Blood), Saki Red guit (Nemophila, Mary’s Blood), TomoZo lite blue guitar (Doll$Boxx, Gacharic Spin, Metallic Spin), Yui red V guit (and her keyboardist and bass player from Cyntia), and 12yr old LisaX on black guitar. The LisaX Band, which also features Hazuki (Nemophila), is arguably my favorite band (besides anything TomoZo does😉), tho they’re more prog soul & shred than full on metal. Mate....as a Saffa in Japan I can say that you really need to visit Japan and check out their amazing scene. These all women bands in Japan are just incredible
@@RockyHarder it really is. I've been lucky enough to see Aldious, Lovebites,and Band Maid live. They were all brilliant. Next up is to catch Nemophila live. It also helps that 70% of Japanese people still prefer to buy physical media. Thus one of the reasons these bands can exist is that they can actually sell albums and make a living as they play live and build up a fan base. The proper structure is there to nurture the talent. Other than that the people,sights and food are all amazing too. Japan is an all around fantastic country.
Mayu's voice is one of my favorites, PS if you took a bunch of female Japanese guitarist together it would crack the earth, I don't suggest getting 50 or so until we shore up the foundation.

They do a have a festival of female bands each year hosted by the first all female rock/metal band from the 1980's - Showya - Naon no Yaon rock festival. They are freaking amazing, they are in my elite group together with BandMaid, Scandal and BabyMetal and my fourth favourite band overall. Of course Lovebites in the best Band Ever group, but Nemophila is really good and their live streams are awesome. Watched their first and will watch their second in December. Saki, such a cutie, is my third favourite guitarist, right after Miyako and Midori. Mayu, singer is getting under my skin in a positive way ... she can be so adorable yet badass. Tamu is one of the best drummers with an mesmerizing smile, same like Haraguchi on Bass, she can really play it and smile. Hazuki, the other guitarist is also really good and definitely in my top 10. Heck Nemophila did a cover of Nickleback and got all sorts of love and did not get cancelled :D. If a band can cover one of the most hated bands that many secretly listen to and get praises, it tells a lot! I've bought albums and went to concerts of some old school western bands, but the all female Japanese bands make me "simp", get albums, get merch, listen to live streams, follow their social media and who knows if circumstances allow, might even go to Japan to listen them live.
Last covers of Nemophila are impossibly good. I never had a situation, that I feel I'm a witness of begining of the great band. I started with The Trooper, of course :)
Couldn't help but notice that the band photo on the title for this reaction is not NEMOPHILA. It is LIPSTICK. Mayu vocalist of Nemophila, it is her last band who are still active. Mayu changed her name when joining Nemophila, she was called Sindy during her LIPSTICK days.
Saki is considered as the best female guitarist in Japan (and according to my opinion one the most beautiful). But I think there is so many better tha good female guitarists in this little island (Saki, Midori, Miyako, Rei, Kanami...). It's insane. And we can say the same about the drummers, the bassists... A+

She's still tearing it up at 60. The second to play is Haruka Noma, who is still a teenager. The Force is strong in Japan.
Instrument-wise, I can't fault them - but recent live covers have shown that Mayu's vocals have a tendency to be a little pitchy. Also, her English pronunciations need some work. That will come in time. Nothing involving Saki could ever be bad (check out the self-titled debut album by Amahiru, her collaboration with Kreator and Ex-DragonForce bassist Frédéric Leclerq), but it's the vocals that put them a little behind Lovebites for me. But this is a great song and video.
You want a HEAVY song from Nemophila? Check out their cover of the X-Japan song Kurenai.It starts out real slow & pretty then...HOLY SHIT!!! They just blow it right out of the water! And Tamu the drummer is a little firecracker! She makes John Bomham ound like he plays drums for Air Supply! How her little tiny legs keep from flying off when she is pounding those Double kicks is a mystery to me! Check it out!

I had almost given up on finding a decent new band cause frankly there hasn't been one, god for 10 or 20 years far as I'm concerned. These ladies are insanely good. And I have not liked every member of a band equally well as much, since I first heard ZZ Top back in the mid-to-late 70s.
