I have been working with the tool & cutter grinder for the past couple of days and I found a Wheel adapter bushing was needed to be machined and knocked one out on the Axelson lathe.
What is it ? Why does it bring me such pleasure watching, running, seeing these machines manipulate various alloys and materials in many of the same ways with so many different types of tooling. Why am I’m so delighted to pick up and handle these fine precision measuring devices and so many different forms of sharp/ non-sharp cutters and form tools and .. I just love this world. The world of machines and manufacturing, and alloys and engineering masterpieces of both old and new marvels of ingenuity. How weirdly satisfying it is to walk into a facility and be greeted by the Oder of hydraulic oil, cutting fluids and solvents and cleaners, hot motors and gear lube.. .. man, I am one different individual aren’t I.. and just how dose this happen? Why do I not get the same satisfaction of walking into a bank or a hotel or a restaurant.? I don’t think there is anything wrong with me. I’m just different in my own different ways I guess. I didn’t feel the need to explain myself, I just know that if you are here watching this and reading these comments that you are wired differently just like I am. And we may not be even remotely the same. Every day is a blessing. Good or bad. Take the good and learn from the bad, it may make tomorrow just a little bit better. Thanks! I feel very fortunate to have this opportunity to use these vintage machines that are still in good condition.. I almost went with more modern machines but then I probably would not make the videos
Just running an old lathe. It was suggested by a viewer to watch me operate the machine from a distance. I will have effective microphones soon. I simply turn the camera on when I am normally working in my shop at this point, as it takes considerable expense and another skill set to make slick videos like the fake machinist entertainment channels do here. with donations the sound will improve very soon, thanks for tuning in.
