Protective styles (box braids, twists, etc) can be left in for weeks. However, because her texture is fine it might end up causing breakage and causing build-up on the scalp. Before you start the style, I like to brush down the hairs I plan swooping, then I do my bun, then swoop the hairs into the bun
this!! brushing the edges that you want to swoop done first helps so much in controlling how much hair you have out!! bcs if it’s too much you can always go back and make it a smaller amount and then style the hair
it’s okay to leave natural hairstyles like ponytails in for a couple of days, i do it when i have to wear my natural hair and i just take them down when i need to redo or wash them !
Great job ! Gel on the scalp is used to lay the hair down while you part to ensure the part is as straight as possible. Just make sure she washes her hair thoroughly. Also I would be a little careful with doing box braids on her hair texture, her hair is fine so breakage could happen . You did great with the edges just think of it as “C” motions .
Definitely do your brothers hair! I like soft bamboo toothbrushes since I have fine curly hair but there are cheap edge brushes that you can get from hair stores.
You did a great job 👏🏻 but when using gel to tame flyaways you should place the gel on the HAIR not on the scalp! Over time this can irritate the scalp and cause dandruff or other problems,it happened to me so I’m just helping you avoid the same problem 😅
