Not “Trifecta”, but the Corner Stones of what to look for when building a makerspace. ❤ Quadfecta is a term used but the ‘ring’ to the term is probably why no one uses it. I like Tetra, tetrafecta but it again will never catch on, maybe tetfecta 😊.

I know the K1 had a LOT of extruder issues and also issues with the belt pullies being to big and causing issues when it first launched. Have those been fixed now or did they just never address those?

I have its big brother and it has been spectacular. Picked up a textured PEI plate to replace the smooth stock plate and I've just been hammering away on it day in and day out. Braindead easy setup, ridiculously quick, and after two weeks of near constant printing I haven't had a single issue or print failure.

The reliable and automated bed probe / Z offset sure sounds a like a feature that'd be pleasant to have. And being to able to root the machine and flash a stock version of klipper on it make it even more enticing when you're a poweruser. Nice to see they also cater to casual users with phone slicing etc. I hope Kingroon send you a KLP1 I'd love to hear your thoughts on it. It seems to be just as capable and is even more aggresively priced. These machines are still about twice the price of a bedslider but they're finally getting into a price range where it doesn't cost more than a month's rent. Maybe someday I'll get to print faster than 60mm/s :D

I just bought this printer and have to say it’s first printer I bought that just works right out of the box. I love my IDEX printer but it takes a lot of tweaking to get good prints . After setting up this k1 I did the calibration thing which took about 15 mi s or so and printed out a perfect benchy first try . Now I am putting it up head to head with my IDEX printer and already on a four hour print on the IDEX the K1 is almost 3/4 of the way done and the IDEX is about 3 hours to go . Amazing so glad I got this

I picked up a k1 on the crazy sales creality recently had. My expectations were also not that high. I did not need a printer, mind you, as I have quite a few, but I am glad I did. I waited until creality unlocked the firmware and rooted it right away. And it is amazing. I do wish quality control was better, though. My build plate is quite crooked. It is off my like 1.4mm. And this is common. But it still prints well. It is just a shame that this happens often. I am still happy with it, though. Thanks for the video.

Mine was very low at the back on arrival but you can fix it if it's causing print issues. It involves taking the bottom of and adjusting the z belts\pulleys. I got it pretty much spot on (0.2mm front to back, even less from side to side) although I warn you, it takes a while to do as each attempt needs a re-level sequence to see how close you are! (tips: a pulley quarter turn is 1mm, don't forget it's a tripod not a square and you can run the levelling with the printer on it's side which saves loads of time!)

Bambu Lab went for glue stick for no practical reason (maybe they wanted to keep bed temperature off/down, or just be different?) -> Creality followed without much thought. On V3 SE they have PC sheet, again strange decision, but at least prints stick to the sheet (too well, it seems) 🙄 It had been better to have just normal textured PEI sheet instead, or even better - dual-sided sheet with smooth (for small parts and, well, smooth bottom) and textured (for bigger prints and PETG). I have 3rd party one on Ender 3 clone (it would fit K1 🙈 ) and like it a lot.
@sierraecho884
@sierraecho884 8 месяцев назад
@@3dpprofessor Yes, because it is an additional adhesive. My argument is I don´t want additional adhesion because I don´t want to spray that stuff around where I live. My Flashforge Adventurer 5M has a glue stick instead, that´s a better solution but still not perfect.
@sierraecho884
@sierraecho884 8 месяцев назад
@@kimmotoivanen "...(too well, it seems) 🙄..." That´s what the glue stick is for. I print 99% in PETG which bonds to some sheets, the glue stick creates a separation layer. "...It had been better to have just normal textured PEI sheet instead..." I agree. Glue stick is way better (the special kind one) Hairspray is messy that aerosol get´s everywhere on your machine, PC, clothing it gunks everything up.

Creality seems to have a problem with their thermistor connectors. I marked mine, and it's not backing out - but unplugging and replugging it fixes the printer more than half of the time anything is wrong. I don't even bother trying to diagnose, or even Google error codes first anymore - I replug the thermistor connector first, and if that doesn't fix it, THEN I start diagnosis. I can understand pounding _every_ penny on a $100 printer. They need to spend the extra penny for a better connector if they want to compete in the $600 printer market ...

I'd like to update to a core x-y but am concerned about noise. I'm in a home office with my quite modified E3 Pro about 5 feet away. It's very quiet albeit slow. The stuff I've heard on x-y printers is they are noisy, but I imagine that is at their top speed. So if the printer were slowed down some (say to 75% of rated speed) would the noise decrease to a level where I can be close to the printer and not hear so much?

I bought a k1 max over black friday and the design is REALLY close to that of the k1. I've been having lots of first layer problems with mine. I'll do a mesh each time but I still end up with a first layer that's either too high, too low, or both and I've been finding it really annoying. once it's beyond the first layer, it seems to do great in a variety of circumstances but i've never been able to get a good first layer out of it. - also, I'll note that abs overhangs and bridges have been absolute garbage with this weather using the stock profiles or manually setting the part fan to 100% in orcaslicer (my slicer of choice). I even tried turning on the side fan while running some bridging/overhang prints and saw little in the way of improvement. I was trying to print the cartridge for a nevermore micro v6 which is intended to print without supports as oriented in the model (which includes a thick mesh at the top of the model) and I just couldn't get the k1 to do the job. meanwhile, my bambulab p1s did it perfectly in one shot with no tuning at all with a default abs profile and "voron" walls/tops/bottoms/line width/infill settings (which i'd set on the k1 max as well). I really want to love this printer, and it HAS turned out some pretty nice art sculpture prints that i've done and some other parts, but between the first layer issues and the overhang/bridging issues, I'd have difficulty to recommend it. note: the p1s +ams has it's own sets of issues that keep me from recommending it to everyone... the camera on it is absolute trash (grainy 720p at .5fps (yes, that's one frame every other second... in 2023!), it's pretty loud (both in motor noise as well as fan noise as well as ams motor/gear operating noise), the screen is crap too (But I don't use the screen for much really, i prefer printing right from the slicer so i don't really care about the screen - in fact imo they could have saved the money and omitted the screen on the k1 max and i'd have been happier). also both the k1 max and p1s use glass front doors and glass top panels that are tinted... I wish they had used clear plexi because it would have been both more durable, and allow more light into the printer to let the camera work better and it would be less heavy to ship, and you'd be able to more easily point a camera into it (particularly in the case of the p1s and the abysmal camera). at this rate, I'm going to have to find a completely separate wireless camera setup and figure out how to get it into the very small space of the printer and hope it deals with the chamber temps ok. also on the p1s, why doesn't it come with a purge bucket!? it just poops out filament waste from the back of the unit onto your table/desk/floor, no cares given. one of my first print was a purge waste bucket...

@@3dpprofessorI printed all of the functional printed components for my Voron V2.4r2 on an ender 3 (lightly modified with an all metal heatbrake and a bltouch probe) with a cardboard box on top of it at around 80-100mm/sec and most of the parts came out really nice. I am still confident that i'll get my k1 max issues sorted with some configuration changes, and maybe an aftermarket thicker flatter bed. I just think that this new wave of corexy printers from creality, bambulab, and others were designed to be turnkey and reasonably foolproof, but there are some design decisions such as the thin bed, the belt-linked z leadscrews on the k1 max and the poor camera and loud motors on the p1s that hold them back and as an enthusiast, it's important to give feedbck on these things so we can force companies to do better with the next revision / generation to drive the community forward.
@MisterkeTube
@MisterkeTube 8 месяцев назад
I cannot comment on the K1 or K1 max, but I feel you're complaints about the P1S are just you being overly spoiled probably. I find the camera on the P1S perfectly adequate. Not for video, but for what I need to do with it - checking in on the print - it is more than good enough and I love how it performs even in the low light conditions. And the noise surprised me. Everyone is complaining about how noisy it is, but compared to my modded TwoTrees Sapphire Plus, it's actually more enjoyable. So I am very happy with my P1S so far. Not a single failed print. I've never before printed PETG this good, this easily and this fast ... And the poop just shows Bambu has thought about what is needed, whereas other printers may probe with the nozzle but are missing the crucial things to ensure a clean nozzle. That's my main complaint about the K1 series: no nozzle wiper and poop solution and no filament cutter. The first will increase the risk of inaccurate bed meshes and the second makes an AMS-like solution more difficult.
@Cpgeekorg
@Cpgeekorg 8 месяцев назад
@@MisterkeTubeI haven't seen a non-bambulab printer with a filament cutter, but this can be reasonably implemented with a new toolhead module for honestly not that much money as an upgrade option later down the road. it's simply not needed if you aren't doing multimaterial. as far as the poop situation, this could be implemented with a purge bucket (I set one up on my v2), or you could purge to a purge block, or to the printed object itself (I always enable purge to infill to reduce plastic waste). depending on the size of the object, you might not even need a purge block if you purge to infill. as far as nozzle wiping, the k1 max overcomes this (at least when doing leveling and printing) by doing a prime/purge/pre-print bed wipe at the very back of the bed. this certainly helps with the z leveling and bed meshing processes. on my v2 I accomplish this with a scrub brush that's part of my purgebucket setup. there's a few ways to do similar workflows. bambu's is relatively elegant, but it also adds lots of maintenence as well (you need to replace the cutter every 4-5kg of filament, and the nozzle wiper gets replaced at a similar rate. whereas the k1's solution, there's nothing to replace, you just scrape off the purged filament from the build plate with a scraper when it gets dirty where it purges and keep printing, or in the case of my v2, replace the brass brush when it degrades (i'm still on my first brush and i've done thousands of prints over a year... it doesn't look super pretty, but it still does a great job at cleaning off my nozzle.), and not unlike the bambu, i just detach my purge bucket and empty it into the trash). the camera is just frustrating because it's the most expensive printer per volume that I own, and you have to consiously choose to buy slow arm cpus and/or cheap cameras these days. in order to fix the problem, I spent $50 on a raspberry pi zero 2 w and a pi camera module 3 (which should be here later this week), and I found someone modeled a nice enclosure for the camera module for the p1s/p1p. if I spent $50 on retail off-the-shelf parts, imagine what the BOM would cost a company like bambulabs (significantly less, probably close to $20) - and if you subtracted the cost of the substandard parts they chose to use and replaced them with the modules found on the pis, you'd be looking at what? $15 more expense in the bom. even at a 20% markup which is pretty standard in retail, that's only $18 more per unit which is a drop in the bucket for their asking price. I wouldn't mind spending $18 more for a camera module that doesn't suck and a computer that was just slightly overkill for the application... and I think most other folks would too.
@MisterkeTube
@MisterkeTube 8 месяцев назад
@@Cpgeekorg The Bambu also wipes the nozzle on the back of the buildplate while cooling it back down to 140C. The poop before that phase is needed to clear plastic that has already been heated and cooled again inside the nozzle and hence degraded, before you start the rest of the process. The filament cutter isn't just for multi-material use. It can also help avoid clogs when simply unloading filament. Anyhow, if you prefer non-Bambu, good for you. I also was not convinced until I bought a P1S for Black Friday and if I had the cash to burn and the room to put it, I would probably also get a K1 Max, but I do believe Bambu has put more thought into the product than Creality. But most of all, I've never considered Creality a reliable company for supporting their products. I hope that they proof me wrong, but at this time I think a Bambu is ideal for printing, whereas a K1 probably is better for the tinkerer. I have my Sapphire.Plus for the latter, until I do get a K1 Max.
