Anderson could have retired at the end of the next Ashes home series. It would have been a fairytale ending.He didn't have to be the main bowler he could have been the third choice or fourth. 200 probably was his aim but it was cut short.

well listening to this interview m8 it seems like he would of played the entire series vs west indies this summer and it has been taken out of his hands basically🤔 when I first heard the news he was only playing one test match I was dissapointed personally because I have tickets for trent bridge so now because of rob key I will not see jimmy anderson in an england shirt again sadly🤣 I have my doubts re rob key aswell btw he said in an interview I seen it on sky sports the other week he said ben foakes was the best wicket keeper in the world yet they have picked a younger keeper ahead of him for england make sense of that if you can because I just cant really🤔

I disagree with the statement. Judging by how the team has played under Stokes I say there's been an improvement. The team is playing positively and goes in with the right mentality. I know we just got battered 4-1 in India but India are practically unbeatable in India. However, it's just my opinion and you have your right to disagree.

Yes, Jimmy was diplomatic with his words. I think all of us from afar can deduce that he was given an ultimatum of being offered a stage managed farewell at Lords tomorrow or he’d be dropped without one if he didn’t accept it. This may well come back to bite the ECB and Key in the bum in the months to come if the new crop of seamers, who’ll have a tough act to follow anyway, struggle to bed in. There are no ready made replacements for Broad and Anderson and they won’t be able to keep going back to Woakes and Wood for much longer. That ECB decision will be magnified further if Jimmy plays on for Lancs for another couple of years and as he showed last week, continues to take bagfuls of first class wickets.

@@rasikaperera5825 He should assert his right to not be forced. He cannot be forced to retire. He can be kept out of English Team but can sure play county as long as he wants.

The only reason that makes sense to me about this forced retirement is getting other bowlers experience before next ashes but even then surly you want jimmy playing to help guide the youngsters?

He was far from England's best bowler in the home Ashes series. He got 5 wickets in 4 tests. He was comfortably outbowled by Robinson, Wood, Woakes, and Broad. Given English cricket lives and dies by Ashes performances, its a fair point to suggest that Anderson wasn't exactly an option moving forward anyways, especially in Australia.

How can u even judge him on the basis of just 1 bad ashes? He literally took wickets everywhere during 2020-2022 in india, flat road of Pakistan, srilanka, in aus also he was good

@@ashukashyap5643 If you take just 5 wickets in 4 tests, then it doesn’t matter how well you have seemingly bowled. I saw every test. He was easily the least impactful seamer of the series. In Ind, Eng were forced to bowl him in short spells. As a result, two spinners had to bowl truckloads of overs and got smacked in Dharamsala, where ideally an Anderson from the previous tour would have been brought in to the attack to get some control back. And yes, I can judge him because he is 41 for god sake. You don’t expect a 43 year old Anderson to do better in Aus than a 41 year version did in Eng.

He bowled many longer spells in last ashes... And can u name a better bowler than Jimmy in eng atm? Woakes can't bowl outside eng, broad is retired, Archer we don't know if he is ready to play test.. @@ashukashyap5643 He bowled 110 overs because India batted a lot more and Eng couldn’t bat for long periods of time to save their life. Anderson bowled the same amount of overs as Mark Wood in the last test. That is obviously a problem. Anderson is supposed to be the work horse.

If he gets fifer in first innings then he can still break Warne's record.. it's very unlikely though...
