The G Funk/West Coast early 90s era also sampled a lot of Ohio/Midwest musicians, so it came full circle when Bone rapped on West Coast production. Also, Bone moved to LA in 1993, prior to signing with Eazy E. They were already ingrained a bit into the West Coast lifestyle/culture. Not to mention that NWA was a big influence. Which is why it probably made it easier for them to embrace that type of production when Eazy connected them with his producers.

Its cool you are getting into classic Bone Thugs N Harmony--they had some really good songs and no one really had their blend of signing/harmonizing/rapping. I think why I never got overly into them was they seemed to never get above their subject matter--like almost every song was about the same stuff in a different way. That said, I scored that hits cd in your video pane when Circuit City went out of business and my car sound system loves a lot of those songs.

Reason being is Easy E (California) discovered them. They're production sounds like Dr Dre (California) and many songs during that era copied the same West Coast style.

@verbone
@verbone 3 года назад
The West Coast sound is because Bone got at Eazy-E, who signed them and got DJ Uneek to produce them. Plus, this was 1994 - probably 1993 when they recorded it - and most the country hadn't really fully developed its own hip hop sound, so most groups had a NY, Cali, Houston, or Miami sound. If you want more Shatasha Williams - the singer from Cleveland - who was part of the Mo' Thugs group, check out "Thug Devotion." I looked her up and found a Complex article about her. Apparently, she's alive and well, a mother of 4, living in Shreveport.
@calest6251
@calest6251 2 года назад
They had Eazy E and his producers controlling their sound from the beginning. That why you get that sound, it wasn't till DJ Uneek came in and made that whistle through near all their songs, and it made that bone sound, the best hip hop beats of all time.
