Another episode of “Kage appreciates a character most of the community deemed bad - Chocoboy edition” :) It’s just fun to see someone give new characters a chance, stepping out of ranking lists and usage rates.
To be fair, normal, everyday Genshin players don't have the luxury to give every single character a chance. Everyone has to make concessions somewhere, and if people can pass on Mika, it means more of a chance they get who they want later.
I just see him as our Chocobo mascot we managed to slip in legally from Square Eenix. If only he could turn into one for travel means then we'll truly have a Best Boi.
0:32 I pulled like 4 x 10 pulls to try and get mika..........no joke, 1st pull was sucrose, 2nd was a rainslasher just like you Jei, luckily on the 4th it was a 5 star and got Shenue and Mika.
i am semi-officially mika's biggest fan, and i can say that not only am i very glad to see mika love on yt since so many people hate on him for no reason, but i also now want to pull for eula for the sole reason of using mika as god intended instead of using him as a dps because i am insane
JEI- YOU MUST TRY THIS! Rosaria with cresent pike and the new anemo set, mika, Yun Jin, and an electro (I use fischl). You go oz, yun jin burst, mika skill, Rosaria Skill, then charged attack. Then watch all the numbers as you attack fast AF and get that crescent pike passive. Its so much fun.
(New anemo set gives 40% damage on normal and charged hits as well as 10% normal atk speed after using a charged attack. Its actually also super good on Yanfei.)
Yun Jin gives attack speed as well at c6. You can also use fischl has the main dps with compound bow for extra attack speed as well. If you can't tell Im a huge fan of haste effects too. Also I think ayato gives atk speed at c4, Im not sure tho, I dont have him.

As someone who failed to get Shenhe I'm green with envy, ironic I guess cause I lost 50/50 to Tighnari. Atk speed go brrrr, maybe I'll level Mika up too at some point, I think Yujin has a speed buff tho only C6 iirc
I'm so sad I can't get him, his big ol' cowboy boots enchant me. 72 pity with a guaranteed from wishing on Scara's banner. Baizhu is not escaping me, but at what cost 😔
I literally got ayaka on my first 10 pull. Then got shenhe (won the 50/50). Then got the Amos bow, mistsplitter reforged and than the Calamity queller. I got one more waifu to go which is eula.
The meta really kinda wants to shit on Mika (and attack speed buffs in general) because the attack speed bonus only adds one attack to the typical Eula rotation, and apparently that's not particularly significant on its own. But those number crunchers really don't seem to acknowledge that you're rarely in the best possible scenario in game. Maybe you have to dodge or reposition. Maybe you click a little too fast or too slow. Instead of thinking of it as one extra attack, think of it as broadening the window you have to allow for circumstances or human error. Yes, it's annoying that you have to C6 the guy to get the best benefits. But even at C0, what he adds to a physical damage team isn't nothing.
I didn't look too much onto him, but from what I heard from the Eula mains subreddit (this could be wrong): 1. Normally Eula best teams are single target, but to get all the stacks from Mika at C0 (and even at C6 iirc) you need multiple enemies; 2. He doesn't have a lot o personal dmg on top of also needing a lot of energy to proc his burst consistently; 3. Before C6, Bennet, Xinyan and C6 Rosaria can provide more benefits for Eula than Mika; 4. The attack speed is usually not great in most characters because of hitlag, specially claymore characters. It usually works better with archers. This is some of the complaints that I saw from people who tried to play him with Eula. Also remember that the META focus specifically on the abyss, since there's no reason to theorycraft for the overworld, in which case just play with whoever you find fun, but from an abyss perspective, there are simply better options than him
@@ErgoAriZ That may be true, but again, you're presuming perfect scenarios that aren't likely to happen, especially in Spiral Abyss. For example, you know how many times enemy movements have pushed me or led me out of Bennett's circle? A TON. Same with Rosaria's circle. Sure, against a single enemy that doesn't move and doesn't have any knockback? Yeah. But how many times does that actually happen in practical application? Probably not as much as theorycrafters want to think.
@@thomasknapp6434 That's the thing, even with movement, he'll still only give you one extra attack, usually. Just because you're moving doesn't mean you suddenly get more. A lot of people who play a hypercarry Eula use Zhongli, as well, which means they don't need to dodge. And, well, Eula's best teams aren't hypercarry ones, which means you're relying on other characters, like Raiden, who Mika doesn't help as much. And if you are running her most effective team, currently, the hyperbloom Eula team, well, there's no room for a second cryo at all. One of phys damage's biggest issues is shielded enemies. Mika has the worst elemental application of any cryo character. That's also a big drawback for pairing him with electro characters, as now you need a second cryo to reliably maintain superconduct. Sometimes, you have to wonder if Hoyoverse's designers even play the game, that they can overlook something like that. His attack speed buff is also for normal attacks only, I believe, which leaves out another physical damage dealer, Xinyan, who likes to spin to win. There's another Eula related issue as well. His ascension talent phys damage buff is only to on-field characters. So, if you are facing weaker enemies, and you swap out of Eula to trigger the early sword drop, you lose that bonus. It's just another thing that makes you shake your head, wondering about their designers. Don't get me wrong. I think a lot of people will have fun with him. They won't swap out early, get a bigger number, and won't care that it is all overkill. And I expect that, much like with Yun Jin, people will use him in all sorts of non-META teams, and have good fun with it. Probably primarily for his attack speed buff. So I don't think he's a bad character. But he definitely isn't what I want for my Eula team.
@@Axterix13 Well again, I think it's a mistake to dismiss it solely as "one extra attack." Attack speed bonus really should be examined as opening the window broader to get [x] attacks in. Instead of raising the ceiling, consider it as raising the floor. Which I think is more useful in practical application, because the situations where you are able to simply stand and wail in one spot for the full duration is not nearly as common as theorycrafters make it out to be.
I can’t stop thinking Chocobo when I see him. Also, his english voice is so damn nasally it hurts. Just hire a random child off the street at this point.

i dont know if thats a good thing considering US has been getting a steady climb of obese people and scarily some morbidly obese too the average is a bit skewed imo
Never ulting with mika in the fighting bosses section to get the physical attack damage bonus is pain. xD (just means we need a part 2 hehe). Mika is surprisingly really fun to use that's for sure!
Your first 40 pulls is exactly what happened to me except it's 1 Ayaka and 1 Shenhe(still pulling for a Mika after 50 pulls) Edit: great news boys I can now turn Yoimiya into an actual gatling gun
Mika one of the few who are friendly with Eula (he even translates her to others apparently since you know the whole revenge thing isn't the best way to communicate to others at times 😅)
Kage, if I remember correctly I’m pretty sure that there’s another character that gives an attack speed boost. It’s Chongyun’s E field. I don’t play Chongyun so I might be mistaken.
There’s 3 reasons you wouldn’t even use Chongyun or his attack speed boost . 1) He only provides elemental application and not much dps outside his burst. 2) The attack speed boost is small and almost negligible for melee characters, and melee’s don’t benefit that much from attack speed because hitlag. 3)Attack speed bonuses only benefit bows/catalysts that dont have hitlag, and again, his skill doesn’t affect non melee weapons.
It's Jean, Chongyun and Mika that increase Atk Speed.Jeikage.Wanderer is currently the only character with an atk speed specific signature weapon.(as far as I know anyways...)
His Eula is at least c2, has her BiS weapon, and he's only doing 260k max!? With Mika and Shenhe...! Mine does 350k with c0 and WGS with only superconduct... I asume Rosaria buff runs out before the sword explodes.
