I stopped watch CD about 6 months ago. Has there been any movement on heating, or the grand salon, or the apartments? Has anything actually been finished? It's good to see Dan getting the credit he deserves.
Congratulations Dan! I know it is not a race, but Stephanie let viewers know you surpassed her in subscribers….by 10,000 viewers for now. She is proud of you and so are so many people! A long road but so much progress! Cannot wait for the daily vlogs! You are amazing along with all your friends.
Can we all just give Dan some credit that has been missed, I think. He's doing all this massively physical and dirty work in a white T-Shirt! And it never gets dirty! How is that even possible???
This has totally puzzled me for several months! I think he might have hundreds of white t-shirts on site and throws them out as soon as they get a mark -on goes a new one! 😂
Oh! Dan our wonderman, Wow, I, m on edge, stressed, worried every time watching you each night Dan, but it's exciting how well your home is coming on. The nights you miss I, m praying oh god hope he,s alright, bet alot of us are thinking the same thing, you see Dan we all love you. Take care see ya tomorrow. Love from South Wales UK 🏴❤️👍😘😘
agreed, sometimes the twin-effect can feel gimmicky but on a one-man building site it fits so perfectly. I think my favourite little moment was "on the landing, where you're standing" -- it felt immersive, like we're there overseeing in person. Dan's so wonderfully engaging, can't think anyone else could make building so entertaining to watch.
yea, 10 clones. One will go out shopping, the next will tell you what to do, the next will go home and make another kid with your wife, the next will leave and go for the restaurant, the next has you credit card and will leave for Hawaii, the next will take the cam, film you and laugh when you fail, the next will refuse all responsibility if the beam falls on your head.....no no no, no more clones !
@@karenvknight6516 If that was meant for me why not adress it to me, I only noticed it by accident. There is a *lot* of safety advice one *could* give this man but I am fairly sure he would ignore it, so why bother.
I saw danger in the title Dan and my heart jumped for your safety. Funny how'd you have no idea who most of us are but we care so much for you & your endeavors.
How you have time or the energy to do creative editing at the end of your incredibly physically demanding day is mind boggling. You sure have some kind of super powers, Dan.
Seeing all your clones while you discuss what is going on is phenomenal! With this high end editing you are getting so good at it! Gee whiz when do you even have the time to create like this? You, Dan, are Amazing!
Geez Dan, you are really knocking it out of the park!!!! One of the best things to have come out of that awful pandemic was finding Chateau Diaries and your channel. Dedicated fan for life!!!
Dan --- the legend! It's an example of Stephanie's generous spirit that she would celebrate you surpassing her. I can see that she and Philip are itching to help you bring elegance back to your chateau. Soon she'll have you at Saville Row getting measured for dinner clothes!
Note: I found a French newspaper (online) with an article discussing the chateau's history. And one question I've had was: "Who was this Russian Industrialist who built the chateau?" "What was his name and what did he do?" His title / name was La Comte Soubersky[i?] (The Earl / Marquis Soubersky, no first name given). He was a: "fabricant de Poeles" - (He manufactured Stoves. Whether they were household or industrial-type stoves was not mentioned. Any more biographical details would be useful, interesting to know. If anyone knows more about him, I'd love to find out. Also, the local girl he patronized/supported - married? / mistress? Who became a Parisienne Singer/entertainer - I'd love to know more about her, perhaps even a picture of her? Any other early source material would be welcome. LOVE YOUR VLOG Dan. Keep up the good work. Be safe, and have fun!
Remember folks, Dan isn't an everyman amateur builder battling against incredible odds. Dan is a brilliant filmmaker creating a movie about an everyman builder battling against incredible odds. It's gonna be ok, the drama is part of the movie.
It will be OK, I am sure, meanwhile the rest of us have heart attacks irtually every day just watching. As he says the building is saving him, not the other way around and I think most of us have seen that play out for a long while.
So before I start watching your latest vlog today, I have to let you know that I am here with tears of pride streaming down my face. I just watched Stephanie's vlog that was dedicated to you and I'm even more proud than ever to have been able to watch you through every step of your journey from the beginning to now as it has been posted through time. I'm so glad that you're a part of our world you are so inspirational and I'm crazy proud of you! I don't even know you but I am silly proud of you! Congratulations and have an amazing week!
So happy that Stephanie of Chateau Diaries introduced you to us, the viewers. You've come a long way, Dan, since your humble beginnings at Lalande. Keep up the good work.
Brilliant Dan loved Steph's video today, I have said it to you before " You are such a hard worker you deserve all the accolades you get " Well done my boy well done.
When I look at the inside of the building where Dan is working I freak a little because it looks so "crumbly" and not as solid . Gotta hope and pray that all continues to go well with him. He's such a cool guy and very down-to-earth considering his well-deserved popularity on RU-vid....Soldier on Dan and we too ,who are his faithful subscribers (LOL)
I absolutely loved the "Multiplicity" vibes from this video. Also really neat to have an explanation with a visual 👌 I'm beyond invested in this rebuild. Great work Dan!
Lol @ "I really really need to get a better scaffolding" I literally said it just before you did Great job though man. Pretty impressive amount of work you've got done
How clever are you with your clones doing all the work Dan. Sending you a good old Australian pat on the back, you have achieved so much since you first arrived at Lalande and came into our lives.
I've been watching Dan everyday for over two weeks. Without counting the past videos he has done. Why aren't there any fans outside cheering him on, or helping him? I want to buy a plane ticket from Montreal just to pick up his rubble.
That ability to just let it go (as the scaffolding falls over) is why you are able to keep going. The panning out to the pile of twisted metal and debris is a nod to the trials you've overcome and the ones to come yet ahead. I don't know what you are like off camera, Dan, but while on, your focus and ability to keep on in the midst of it all is rather breath taking. Thank you for taking us all along for the ride.🐎
We would be in better shape if there WERE MORE DAN's in this world. Great editing Dan. I liked how you were talking and there were 3-4 Dans working behind you....genius!!! So fun watching your videos!!! So many talents wrapped up into one "Dan"!!!
Watched Stephanie's video. I started watching a few years ago and it was nice to see your humble beginnings. Loved the special effects in this vlog, definitely becoming a great story teller!
Tap, sand, scoot, paint. Tap, sand, scoot, paint. Double Dan. Triple Dan. Tap, sand, scoot, paint. Hey this could be made into a song. I don’t think anyone finds more excitement in seeing tapping sanding scooting and painting those beams than over 20,000 viewers! Nine minutes have never went faster in my life. Thank God that scaffolding wasn’t on the third floor. I’m amazed that the tiles on the bottom or holding up so strongly. Good job
Wow, it's really obvious the missing wall/pillar was load bearing. Good thing you are so methodical or you may not have spotted that. Seriously nice editing!
Dan, your look when the scaffolding fell was priceless 😊 idk where you find the energy to do it all, your filming and editing are already a full time job. You must have cloned yourself for real
I love the multi Dan filming. I've been watching you since your kitchen vids. You're putting so much time, energy and creativity into your vlogs...Thank you Dan😊
OMG..and then there were 4 Dan's.🤣🤣 RU-vid seriously needs to give out awards for best Chateau Adventure... Best Chateau Director, Best Chateau Cinematography... but first you need to build the mantle for all these awards...lolol...
Good morning team Dan ❤ Woooooooow 😳wondering why anyone would take out a structural support pillar …. Pose to make the doorway wider 🤷♀️😑… so glad you found it in time … I bet deep down your kinda pleased to be at the reconstruction from the shell stage ,finding and replacing and mending all the teething problems left behind ☹️…. Glad 🙂 Nicks not far away from arriving … beam time ❤❤❤❤ Rest easy and we will see you tomorrow 🥰
It could have collapsed during the fire or the 35 years afterwards with no roof. I noticed the strip of missing plaster before Dan pointed out the problem so unless that area was covered with something (plasterboard, paneling, whatever) I don't think the pillar was removed deliberately. On the other hand, how likely is it for a solid brick column to just crumble away as long as there's weight on top of it? A freestanding column can topple over quite easily but the lintel above is still in great condition. All very strange!
The way you do your videos is amazing! Such talent you have. What I find that makes your project so interesting is the way you talk to the camera, making it feel like you are talking to us as if we were there with you. Will apologize beforehand, but, I did burst out laughing when the scaffolding fell over. You don't gloss over anything. You do keep it real. Thank you. The highlight of my day 🏰❤️❤️🏰
love the multi Dan clips when the sound issue started, i thought you had a found a wasp nest... Stephanie has a tribute to you video up. well done Dan.
I really thought you could never be duplicated but you went and proved me wrong! Lol! Glad that scaffold didn't go down with "all of YOU" on it! Stay safe!
Only if Dan could clone himself to help him get the support beams in. 😊 I hundred percent agree with you Dan getting the floors so you can get the roof on before fall/ winter, but please pay attention to the plywood has already gotten wet. Your safe is paramount. Please take care of yourself Dan! Thank you
Great editing. At first I thought thank goodness he has some help.... so many Dan's doing all the work. Take care. Stefanies' video regarding you was fabulous. Friends are worth more than gold.
Thanks Dan another outstanding video with so many of you now Iam a twin two is enough for me but many great Dans makes great work done in a day too funny well done this old Canadian girl loves your work make my evening !😀😍
Dan, Dan,Dan, & Dan, another brilliant day and important find of the missing support column, love the editing today, I only wish there was 4 of you working together to bring the chateau back to life. Stephanie’s homage to you tonight was really great to watch too, until tomorrow K🇬🇧❤️
Genius ! Camera work extra special here ! Thank you for not editing out the oops and letting us (albeit after the fact) experience the "downs" of this project as well as the victories ! We your internet extended family wish we truly could lend a physical helping hand somehow ! 👷♀️🛠️👷♂️
This was an excellent video today. The temporary pillar is perfect! As far as the roof, and getting some kind of roof before winter, I will just say that many hands make light work. Things go faster when you have help; but be picky about who helps, they need to be on the same page you are about this project.
Hey Dan! Great work! ... and, its probably a good thing that you found that issue with the beam now, before anything happened, so, you can fix it. But, i wonder, are there any markings on the walls of either room to indicate if that missing support was a wall or just a pillar ... might mean there's another beam or something somewhere that needs some extra support.
It's been up like that for a long while, so it's unlikely to have further issues without tell tale signs like cracks etc. All the main internal floors are gone (Some bathroom ones remain) steel supports are in place but fire damaged so all need replacing anyway, so if there is a problem, Dan will stumble into it!?!
I'd assume there used to be a stud wall separating the basement stairs from the other ground floor room. I wonder if that pillar between the two doorways collapsed during the fire or whether an ill-advised builder removed that much earlier to widen the opening!
Aww Stephanie x Philip adore you! That video was so sweet. Great job so far. I’m so proud of you for taking on such a daunting task . In my mind we’re bff’s 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Love seeing all the progress.
Great to see the extra Dan’s 😮 all will be finished quicker. Really enjoyed Stephanie’s vlog about your early days and the amazing work you did in the garden, fantastic Dan. Love all that you do ❤
Ahh .. so there’s more than just the one Dan Daily 😏 .. great work ‘guys’ & great video editing I must say 👏 Stephanie’s video tribute .. what a complete star you are Dan … so much credit goes to you at Lalande ⭐️☺️
Very Proud of you Dan! In reaching a million views every couple of days! Been watching since you started doing the vlogs, I think I’m the 1st who pointed out the open zipper, haha! Cheers Kirk
Good morning!! Good! Work today your plans sounds good getting somewhere ever moving forward look forward to see the new steel beams go in & yes! You really do better scaffolding
The Tribute from Stephanie was just lovely your a hard working great guy Dan...0h that scaffolding can't wait til you get something better see you tomorrow 😊
Sooo glad to see more of your "indoor garden" removed yesterday! Can't wait til it's all gone! The ONLY plants you should have growing inside the chateau should be in pots!
I wish there were three of you Dan. I saw the tribute that Stephanie did to you Dan, it was so very nice and so glad you are loved and viewed by so many people. You have amazed me with all your skills since I first saw you arrive at Stephanie's Chateau. Your work skills and ethic are amazing. So sorry that tipped over for you. Where were those other two Dans??? lol With as work you are going to be doing, you sure need scaffolding with lockable wheels for moving it around. All the best Dan.
