I was wiping off the side shelf on my grill a few weeks ago and just grazed the side of the grill box with the tip of my index finger while it was raging hot (600°+) - it blustered and finally began healing; still not totally healed three weeks later. You don’t realize how important the tip of your index finger is until you can’t use it! A fingerprint reader doesn’t work, and forget trying to do any kind of delicate work. 😀

You also could add/swap the grillgrate with a cast iron one :) That's what I did and that workd perfectly.

I have found that the best way to deal with a burn is to cut a onion and hold it on the burn. Sounds crazy but it really works.

Best thing for a burn is 100% pure lavender essential oil. Just put it on the burn as soon as possible. You'll forget about the burn in no time. My family has used lavender oil on burns for year's with no issues at all. We keep a bottle in my kitchen and in my grilling area.

Baste the steak in the cast iron pan with the butter as you are searing it. It will be amazing!

Sometimes I sous vide my steak and of course sear it at the end. But something is to be said about smoking that meat and infusing loads of flavor. I'll need to try this marinade tonight. We see Eva waiting patiently for a slice of heaven. Such a well behaved dog.

What a master piece steak! Looks Amazing. Sorry to see you were burnt. I seen you reaching around the BBQ Lid and I cringed! You are a better man than I. I would have hurled some pretty choice words in three different languages I cannot mention here along with making a few of my own up. Morrison would have some cutting of audio to do. 😎

For any grilling friends, buy yourselves an Aloe Vera plant. If you burn yourself, after running cold water over your burn cut off a bit of a leaf and rub the pure aloe gel over your burn. For all but the worst burns it will be well on the way to healing the next day.

Charcoal grill... Sear the steak on the flat side of a grill grate.. I think the grill marks are way over rated. The sear makes the best reaction. Anyway, sear it then move it off the heat to the side... close the lid and let it ride. Somke it to 125 then pull it and rest it. Best damn steak on earth. You're welcome.
