I Dislike This Gamemode

War thunder is like a relationship, first you love it then after a few months you hate it and regret spending money on it. Am I wrong?

For people who just play ground assault for boosters or just wanna win. Play Swedish reserve tanks. They have APDS with a maximum of 115 mm of pen at reserve tier. That means that even if you die and respawn you lose no silver lions. If you do play the reserves I would usually J out and respawn in the same tank if I get hit anywhere where it makes me even slightly slower. There is quite literally nothing negative with this tactic, the only way you lose SL is the cost for your APDS, which is like 3 silver lions. There is also quite literally nothing you can’t pen, or anything you’re not supposed to be able to pen in that level range.

not to mention, if you're playing with a tank in a lower end of the BR bracket... you're gonna have fun trying to pen the AI who are twenty BR above you.

*spawns as Sherman in ground assault.... is immediately shot in the gun and then ammo racked costing me 4k sl by the end of the game*

this is so truee!! my driver almost always dies every 10 seconds, its either that or im getting ammo racked and i really hate it when its the russian tanks attacking you in arcade battles, its because of russian bias

Assault's biggest issues: 1) AI are always one tier higher than your tanks, this unrealistically puts you at a severe disadvantage especially when dealing with the Churchills in Mozdok and Sinai, and half the tanks in low tier can not hope to pen the Churchill whatsoever. Kursk is just as awful with the KVs and IS series. 2) AI have godlike aimbot and always fire with precise accuracy, while moving at max speed, and collision does not fucking care for them as you will see the AI tanks wobble up and down craters like they're on rails. AI can also aim their machine guns at you when you play as CAS because you know, you can do that too...... OH WAIT-!!! 3) This game mode heavily favors tanks that have both mobility and firepower. Armor is borderline pointless once you know that the AI will always aimbot your weakspots even if you play something like the Maus. 4) Ticket Gauge drains way too much in high tier. I understand that high tier is the only tier where it actually fun because APDSFS gives the middle finger to armor regardless therefore the AI can't bullshit you with rng armor angling but when you die, you take up a huge chunk of the ticket bar, but tiers lower don't do this function, what the fuck Gaijin? 5) Speaking of Ticket Gauge, once the AI enters your base, it drains way too much and way too fast. Rework this so it requires more AIs to drain more. Make the ticket drain akin to how it is in pvp. 5) Rewards for completing Assault is not worth it. It is almost half what you would earn if you played regular Arcade but you're playing Assault because you don't want to deal with the salt that is pvp. If you lose in Assault, you will never earn a profit because the reward system for Assault is artificially negative. We know that PVE can work in a game like this. Armored Warfare is proof that you can make PVE with tanks work and make it fun. World of Warship's PVE mode also gets highlights here for also being good.

One of the problems is, people keep spending money on the game, and everyone knows any kind of semi-massive game developer won't do shit to fix stuff if their pocket isn't slightly hurt

Honestly they need a revamp of maps. Like 40-50% of the maps are doghish and you get spawncamped if you’re lucky.

Actually, if you shoot the same spot every time, you'd be a German main. Edit: Take less ammo in your StuG and Pz. You don't need both HEATs, HE, and the APHE. Take around 20 of the most penning HEAT and the APHE total.

Try doing it with a m6 , slow and big and it doesn’t matter you’ll be dead quickly

I somewhat enjoy this mode, but at low BR and top tier there is the same issue. People dont know where to hit enemy tanks even when the game tells you when you aim at them. Not just that, the braindead clowns you always get on your team have to be actively told to SHOOT THE FUCKING TRACKS! Also Japan and Sinai should be banned.

The problem with assault ground arcade (in my opinion) is the AI, when your taking cover the there could be like 7 or 8 fucking tanks aimed at you and shoots at you all at once

Outright cheat mechanics for the AI: laser accurate shooting even while they are driving at speed on broken ground. "100mm" of armor that cant be penned at touching distance by a 150mm pen gun. Snap shooting inatantly on spawn. The devs are just too lazy to bother coding in good AI so they give it cheats as a crutch.

Am I the only one here still waiting for realistic assalut battles...

Not to mention the rewards are terrible. It should be like 5-10 minutes daily and you get your box.

In ground assault tanks with APCR and APDS shells help a lot. Post-pen damage is not great but raw penetration is insane (up to 300mm pen at br5.0) so your shot is very likely to incapacitate the target and help your teammates crowd control the horde of heavy tanks better. But not even the best tank can win you that gamemode if your teammates are hopeless. For that I recommend praying to the Snail™ every time you queue for a match lol.

i agree with the cover being utterly horrible. but the aim om the assault game has never been silver lions, people go to that mode for XP for modifications and for the really nice boosters you get every day. think of it as paying a small sum of silver lions for xp "but i can make xp for free in AB/RB/sim" well its not really free in the first place and more importantly the real reason why we grind in the assault mode some vehicles are an absolute painful torture to play in rb when they are stock.. modification earning is pretty decent speedun assault. would i like there to be a slight break even or earning of silver.. yes but gaijins reason for not profiting is that too many players would grind that mode, and that would mean less pvp.. wich is bad for everyone

the best tank in tier 1 assault is the marder, it has apcbc that one-shots anything with 135mm of pen and a 6 second reload

Yo, is it just me or i always lose on sinai because its impossible, like there is no cover at all, on some maps you can hide in someway by running away from the point and sniping but sinai has only one spot where you can do that, and its really far across the desert where is no cover, so only way you get there is by spawning in ligtht speedy tank and rush it, and you still arent unkillable meaning if you die then bye bye to that spot cuz you will die trying to get there when there is so many tanks shooting at you.

the trick is to use autocanons and take track off the heavy tanks when there is a lot

the panzer g/f2 is the king of this mode, take it in a hull down position and you will not die (inmediatly) for churchills, shoot the god damn tracks of those things and they will expose their sides (and also not move, so win win)

Hi, in 1:30 you did 3 mistakes, the first is you were fighting in an open field surrounded by bots, the second is you played with German team, as we know in this game German mains aren't playing well, especially this gamemode, and the third is that you played lowtier with unexperienced players, I recommend you to grind to the toptier and then start playing this gamemode, because in toptier you don't face tanks stronger than yours.

Warthunder's main problem is the game lacks creativity and shady business practices.

What the HELL is "arcade assault battles"!!! I have been playing WT for more than 2 years and this is the first time I'm hearing about this. tf

i play this game with my trusty puma (mobility and decent firepower.) terrain and map knowledge, plus penning knowledge. combine these three like youre getting a foursome on a college dorm and youll be an erwin rommel. additionals would be the usage of bombers, arty and helping your teammates in gangbanging tanks. i dont even play gwound wealistic, i main air battles be it realistic and arcade. its fun. also, a general tip, dont let the game eat you. just have fun and laugh on how the ai quickscopes you from across the map :)

this mode is only playable in TOP TIER. why? cuz of heli's hellfire AGM and stuff. lower than that is almost unplayable. (bear in mind that i am an italian main, we suffer at everything)

Just don't play arcade assault, just don't play arcade. Just grind in RB like rest of us, just buy high tier premiums and aim for top tier... Who in the right mind plays ground assault???

Buddy Mozdoks fine, you gotta drive north of spawn into a ditch and ur golden, now you just get bombed. Kursk gets broken russian heavies but you dont get surrounded as they aproach only from 180 degs and the planes are bugged so no bombs. Maginot is paradise with good cover and nice lower areas to hide and aproach from sides, french tanks on some brs are paper thin so you pen 90%. Ardennes same deal as Maginot, Americans got better armor but cover is even better if you know what you're doin. Japan got some problems with cover but south of spawn there is a nice hill with depression behind it and right in the middle of the spawn you got a shallow depression that makes ai shoot the ground and not you while you can easily fight back. Sinai on the other hand is pure pain and liver damage from heavy alcohol poisoning you have to endure to numb the pain after you roll that goddamned hellhole. Its fucking flat on one side and on the other ai got height advantage so you get even less cover, on some brs british war coffins are unpennable too for good measure (stares at Churchills and Black Princes).

The misery is the point. Warthunder is a pvp game with mtx. That means they need whales who spend lots of money on broken things. The best way to sell the broken things is by forcing the bad players into PVP. The bad players in PVP are cannon fodder for the broken things. If a bad player goes into PvE, they get wrecked. If they get wrecked, they will either go back to being cannon fodder, give up the game, or buy broken things. Gaijin only wins.
