Ben my friend, you are in inspiration. To bear your struggles in the open is art at its highest form. I feel honoured to have been let in. As another person walking through life with Bipolar Disorder, your vulnerability strikes a chord - we've never met, yet I feel proud to know you. And the folks you found to interview? Absolute genius, all of them. I'm so inspired to learn from people striving for mental wellness, and kudos to all that can do it out loud. People that have struggled through the lessons, learned to "walk the walk", and can now teach us what they learned along the way. We're all on the path, in one way or the other. Some of us are holding torches out front, guiding through the darkness. Thank you, for stepping out and holding the torch. I'm marching right behind you with a smile on my face, and a tear in my eye.
Wow. Thank you so so much Taylor. This message brings a tear to my eye. So we're one and the same with that. This made my week. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
This is a beautiful and important film. Congratulations Ben Duffy. Take a look at YOUR heart! It shines beautifully through every scene. You care deeply. You show ultimate respect for your subjects. You allow them to speak. You don't interject. You let it be about them. In this way you allow your audience to know your subjects and their experience, and then to care about them and appreciate what they've expressed. When you talk about yourself you are open and honest and heartbreakingly sincere. I have better insight now, for what it might be like to step into any of those shoes. You, and your subjects, provide hope and clarity for others who will watch this film. Your approach respects distinct, individual experiences and will comfort those with common experience. I suspect you’ve come across and rejected the all too commonly practitioners who preach absently about how to manage or offer trite, insulting platitudes. Instead, your film was honest and raw. It was real, about real people and their consistent struggles, what they feel and how they manage. Your interviews and your commentary offer solid , supportive, and hopeful advice. You didn’t seem to blink as you told your story. You recognize the importance of truth, compassion, and honesty. Bravo! Your fine mind and obviously very caring heart will sustain you as you move forward. I see how much strength and courage, fortitude and stamina, love and understanding it takes to get through a day. Your hopeful and loving film will mean a great deal to many people. Please make more films. Thank you for this one.
My own adult son has bipolar and is self medicating on the streets. Your beautiful, gritty, profound work of art gives me HOPE. Your short film is the best thing I've seen on this subject - seriously. Brutally honest, down to earth and wonderfully edited. I hope you're submitting to film festivals because EVERYONE should see this film. Thank you thank you!
