When I was 17 I took a barista job at Starbucks. At that time it was a fair wage for a young man and a fun environment to work in serving coffee, espresso drinks and breakfast danishes to people in the area. Starbucks was also a pioneer providing health care benefits to part time employees working only 20 hrs/week. Howard is an old school Democrat. A remnant of how things used to work where people could disagree politically but still maintain a working relationship. What's happening today is a shot, not across the bow, directly into the heart of the ship. Capitalist Democrats are white dwarfs headed into the supernova that is the socialist left. It's difficult to pity a man this wealthy, and I don't, but it's sad to watch a system that thrived for centuries meet its end in our lifetime. 🇺🇸

I love ultra liberal lawmakers grilling an ultra liberal CEO. Amazing. Starbucks, as so many have forgotten, was one of, if not the, first corporations to provide a level of benefits to (part-time) employees that rivals many full-time benefits offered to workers in other companies/industries. They (Starbucks) incorporated, and was founded, in one of the most ultra-progressive (next to San Francisco), areas of the country (Seattle). So how possibly, would a union, make it a better, more safe (especially given this is 2023) place to work? The union would be a cost adder to the business - that's all. So, Mr. and Mrs. consumer - guess what, much higher prices for your fancy coffee than you're already paying now. It's that simple. Oh, and of course, it will be fun to hear about the first barista that made over half a million dollars due to all their overtime.........My bet, is that happens at a store in NY state, most likely Manhattan or Long Island.........

I was at one time a daily Starbucks user. I also made it my practice to spend hundreds of dollars on holiday gifts for employees and friends. That stopped when the company lost its mind and basically told its customers that if they do not believe as this service company believes, it can take its business elsewhere. I took their recommendation and went elsewhere. I find it ironic that this woke company is not eaten alive by the people it reported to support.

Americans do not have a right to create a business that employees people to do better in their life.The people need to earn so much money that the business is not sustainable,that will end your job.If everyone wanted to be rich they would not work at a coffee shop.
