TL;DR imo, growing up doesn't have to be as painful as people are taught to believe that it is, for reasons that I'll explain below. Sure, growing up implies that there's much work to do, many bills to pay, etc. but one can maintain the positive qualities of "old soul" children (an active imagination, the ability to radiate joy, the courage to express excitement about what you like, a willingness to help others ...) no matter one's age, if one keeps in mind that those things are not flaws, but very valuable qualities. Without them, being human simply isn't worthwhile imo. Our productivity-obsessed capitalist cultures want us to work BS jobs in BS conditions, not for the sake of making our own lives - as well as those of others - more comfortable at the end of the day. That emphasis on productivity above all else primes us to think that life itself should suck as much as our jobs (and our social structures) do, which doesn't have to be the case. Jessie Gender's video "The Nature of Work" explores that argument MUCH better than I just did). Did you like my take on growing up? I absolutely LOVE when non-vitriolic people reply to my comments! 😍 P.S I've never understood why so many people think that children are, by definition, spoiled and unintelligent. They are just young, so, depending on who they are and how they're raised, they can become wiser than a significant portion of older people. People that say "science is a scam" and things like that genuinely terrify me because science is literally the best way we understand things in the world. Obviously emotional connection and experience but science is literally so important (I love science by the way and I really want to do research science to help find out more about myself because I'm neurodiverse) also that post about research is right there is SO Much evidence to support the existence of transpeople and why they should be accepted and the ones that don't support that are usually unreliable or the data has been proven invalid eg. Because parents were asked not trans people (which is very similar to the age old "women, we asked a man!")

I managed to just sort of become used to transphobes claiming that the social sciences aren't "real" science. Also to their insistence that basically any new discoveries or such at this point are fake science to support some "agenda." More recently, I saw someone demanding, essentially, that others prove their statements WITHOUT linking to or citing anything because "if it's true, you should be able to just explain it yourself." :|
