The abandoned cellar holes were calling me today and it was absolutely freezing out. So cold the dirt that stuck to the shovel was frozen within a minute. I so I took the big hike out into the forest to do some explrong for lost history. Made my was out to the old abandoned dirt road and found a couple of cellar holes. Old homesites going back to the 1700s that have been deserted in most case 150 years or more. I had my Fisher F19 metal detector and walked all over the place swinging and digging. Just the experience of seeing these old farms that were all wide open and massive hundreds of years ago now overgrown with forest is remarkable itself. It is sometimes hard to imagine all the life that happened out here and its now all gone. Exept for the rock walls, wagon trails and foundations that you can see....you would never know.
