Just got my EP-133 and whipped something up. (This is the second take on this track actually). To be honest, I'm not sure this is for me. I don't like the way the sequencer works, this has nothing to do with the workflow on the Pocket Operators, I find the device somewhat confusing to use, and there's a lot of things lacking for it to be a good workstation, it's more a performance instrument (which I'm not very good at). OH WELL...
Shoutout to ‪@Warmsynths‬ who inspired the J6 setup. Check out THEIR videos instead.

Very well done. Just got my KO2, and trying to get a grip on it. Way too many ideas and external gear choices to be made. Keep exploring and sampling. Sounds Awesome. On my 5th listen while typing. May have just got another J6 sold too.✌🏾✊🏾

nice job hooking it up to some other devices, which is what I also hope to do. A little bewildered by how almost no one seems to be hooking theirs up to pocket operators. Seems like a natural choice.

Totally, on its own it gets pretty limited. Especialy considering you can only have ONE effect at a given time and no resampling.

This is actually the third take. But it’s done in one take, hence the non intentional bass detune near the end😅 Yeah, the Robot is a powerful little solo thing. Love it!

Great jam, mate! Unfortunately, my EP-133 hasn't arrived yet (and it won't before January) so I can't compare workflows...however, I'm pretty sure POs will sray relevant cause they're just awesome and especially the PO-33 - despite all it's flaws and shortcomings - is just an amazing piece of tech!

@@Miniclash yeah, "workflow" might be putting it a bit strongly😁...most POs are pretty complex (like way too complex) but honestly, I think the PO-33 has a decent workflow...still, yeah, I totally get why someone might not enjoy working with it!

I saw a video by Norman Cook on how he made Rockefeller Skank, specifically the vocal hook. To completely retime it he chopped each syllable into a separate sample, triggered each with a different key. Clever stuff, that EP-133 sample just reminded me of that story.

Yeah, the chopping workflow is a bit sh*ttier on the EP-133 than on the MPC to be honest. Those knobs which are not encoders make it hard to chop precisely. But hey, it's a fun thing.

Did I see you using KO2 punch in effects on the sound coming from the J6? I’ve been trying to know if the KO2 could effects on pass through audio and this may be the first time I’ve seen it done

Not the punch in effects, no, but the general effect (delay/ comp/ reverb etc.) can affect the line in. What you're hearing is that I sampled the long chord pads (non-arpeggiated) from the J6 on the EP-133, so they are affected by the punch in effects since they're being played as samples.

When you started playing the PO was perfection. My understanding is that the punch in effects don’t work on the sound from external midi devices?

Thank you for the kind words :) Yes, you're right, the punch in effects only work on the internal sounds, you can tho apply the "general" effect to the line in (delay/reverb/disto/chorus/comp, BUT JUST ONE)

Back in the 80's (63 now)I used to have an EDP Wasp synth(didn't manage to get the Spider sequencer at the time)also had a Roland SH09 synth and a Boss Dr Rhythm DR55 plus 50watt Marshall valve pre amp. Wish I'd kept them. Getting back on it too. Loads of great kit our there now, like the E4 voice tweeker too spoiled for choice really. Fingers crossed on the KO2 .🎯 🎚🎛🎹🎛🎚🔊🎶🎵

You're talking about Kyodai Mahjongg? Yes, I was the composer of the first 5 or 6 songs. Ferral, Gisors, Mayaku, Gokuraku and probably a couple other for which I don't remember the titles :)

I was probably 17 at the time, Naoki sent a call to the newsgroup we were on (fr.rec.anime) asking if anyone knew someone who could do Asian inspired music for his game. I was discovering the world of music making (using Cubase Lite on Mac OS 7.5) and that was my first “real” project.

The EP-133 like a lot of T.E. gear has too much pointless hyperness going on with the screen. It's like a casino in Tokyo ... meanwhile in real life I'm sick of electronic light assaulting my eyes and brain. Plus I don't really do samples

🤷‍♂And yet, Macs do perform quite well, and so does this machine. All is not about pure performance and bang for your buck. Inspiration comes from hardware as well, and how polished an experience is certainly is part of that process. To each their own man🙂 Peace ;)
