Yep, I feel the same. My biggest desire was having a proper WFC Voyager Shockwave with a more accurate vehicle mode, but after seeing the half-assed Bumblebee, Barricade and Megatron, I have no expectations whatsoever
The source material did not have treads. I just played the game today and I can say for sure he did not. Every single transformer in vehicle mode is hovering on thrusters coming from their wheels and megatron just used his thrusters at all times angled like this / \. While I agree it would be cool to roll it, but it never had treads. The only time any of the bots engaged their wheels was when boosting with the left trigger. And when Megatron boosts, he did not have treads either
I like this Megatron cuz' he gives me 2007 vibes lol. If they make Core Class figures for the Gamer Edition? I hope they make Blue Rumble because when he says "Get ready to crumble before Rumble!", that's how he became my favorite ver. of Rumble lol.
The cannon isn't game accurate. In WFC the cannon was a bit bigger/longer and had some extra parts that this cannon doesn't have molded on. This cannon, despite it being *_War for Cybertron_* Megatron, is actually more accurate to the *_Fall of Cybertron_* Riot Cannon. Also the tank mode never had treads in the game. All tanks in War for and Fall of Cybertron were hover tanks at all times. Edit: I do like this figure, minus the knees and the fusion cannon I think its good. Though I do wish they put more effort into the mace. Prime can dual wield his axe, Megatron should be able to dual wield his mace. I also don't like how the mace's handle is too thick for him to be able to hold it anywhere other than the very bottom with one hand. It also needed the purple to go all the way down the spikey bits instead of just cutting off randomly.
Aside from needing to fix the knees, and the elbows being a bit loose, I love it. Having him and Barricade together gives me memories of playing that first level in WFC's Decepticon campaign. Can't wait for Brawl.
from what ive heard, the game model had the decepticon logo moulded on his back of the torso. as did the old deluxe. this figure doesn't seem to even have that. this figures a letdown...
3:04 Guess we can say Megatron's cannon looks *a-MACE-ing.* 5:10 I don't know if it's a good idea but I wonder if you can cut these parts off and would make his knees bend better without damaging them? 8:00 Aaaawwwwww~. Hungy cat. 14:20 You're not alone in this. But I do like the hover tank though, my mind goes wild whenever I have a Transformer that can hover, I'd pick it up and fly him around like he would in the game (or any advanced warfare games.)
Agreed. the head size especially erks me. I don't have my original figure to compare it to, but I swear this version's head is as small if not smaller than the 2010 deluxe's was.
@@ZedMazaus480 it felt like they are using an unrefined render version of the head like they are using the WII version of the model instead of xbox or Ps version
He kinda reminds me of a pre cursor to when Megatron became Galvatron because he resembles him with the reds and purples and the alt mode is like a cannon in ways
His thinner stature still makes him look strong. He looks like the kind of guy who at first looks like he hasn't been to the gym in a while, only for him to grab you, lift you up, and crush your skull without breaking a sweat. Plus, once Hasbro makes a Fall Of Cybertron Megatron, it'll be much more BEEFY!
6:59 I just got Legacy Scourge yesterday, and after posing him for a bit I've come to question why Hasbro don't use ball jointed hands on all their figures now. At least figures that have the hands flip into the lower arm. It achieves the same thing this pin system does for it but it gives the hand more articulation.
Now I think about it, none of the gamer edition figures have an alt mode alt mode. It may have been hard to do, but it is like the main gameplay mechanic of all high moon games
The cats made the review better, lol But on a serious note, I feel like Gamer Edition Studio Series is in a weird spot for me. Just feels half-assed and they made some head scratching decisions
I feel like the Gamer Edition line is suffering from QC and in some cases flaws in design or engineering. That aside I got myself the Clifjumper figure which after cleaning up some excess plastic works pretty well.
Even if that were to be true, I'd rather take this, the Bayverse, and the ROTB SS line over the overrated Bumblebee and 86 lines anyday because the only G1 I liked was Beast Wars and the Japanese continuity, nothing else lol.
Figure is pretty cool to me given i was a kid when the orginal game was released but my issue is i wish his riot canon had some more paint and maybe some more detail to be game accurate along with his old man knees😅😂
i understand your reasons not to compare it to the previous versions, but still it is comparable. This is a voyager at a higher price point than a deluxe. Is a 2023 voyager worse than a 2010 deluxe? that shouldn't be the case, it should be better or at least equal to the 2010 deluxe toy. This even seems to be worse than 2023 voyagers at the same price, studio series cheetor is better than this. The knee articlation problem has no justification. The Gamer Edition subline it's in a weird place, it does some things good and others very bad.
It honestly feels like all the budget went to optimus aka prime was supposed to be just a one off until someone said hey, lets make an entire line based on the games it'll sell Right?!?
I honestly _vastly_ prefer the original, it not only transforms much better IMO but it's also a more cohesive one. All of his parts become part of the alt-mode, unlike this guy, and the original's Fusion Canon is just way cooler and fills out the vehicle mode better. Plus with this guy you have to rearrange a bunch of things to try to fill in gaps, that wouldn't've been there on the original. So yeah, I kinda hate it.
Someone really hates megatron on the hasbro team, earthrise was a joke compared to OP and both figures were retools of the Siege molds, but this is a bit of a f*ck you: No arm swivel, no wrist swivel, smaller size, and the absurd knee problem that can be fixed by just cutting those bits, it is like they dont even care. That said i still think its a much better figure than people pretend it to be, tho my hopes for a FoC Grimlock in all his glory are a bit dampered rn
There is a bicept swivel, but the upper butterfly hinge does make it harder to use. If you use just use the lower elbow you can still get decent arm poses. As for hand swivels it's rare to get them when you have them fold in.
You know what i loved that figure is amazing in opinion he has the flaws but we forget something as a figure is fun to mess (for some weirdly reason megatron was more slender in the game more than optimus soo is accurate but i hate it , the cannon is okay if you turn it around the knees you going to cut the thinks (if you cut it the knees goes to 90 AMAZING ) i dont hate the hover mode ) .I think in mine opinion is more accurate than the old one thenold one was more accurate in the back and in the spikes of the knees (the color is white not black like the gamer edition ) so in mine opinion is 50/50 i love them both.
this line of gamer edition figures is a great example of how hasbros "model accuracy" priority is really hurting these figures. This megs is more "model accurate" but it makes it a much worse toy. There were no treads in game, but having the option to display him with treads and rolling wheels made the OG WFC megs a great figure with great playability. The cannon on this is much more accurate. but overall, looks much worse than the way they did it on the previous release. The vehicle mode is more cohesive and accurate, but overall, much worse as a toy.
Well Botmatrix, The reason his design is so weird is because they used a older design for the game that never got used, and incorperated the final design traights into it Giving us...this. Why would they use a design that wasn't game accurate? Sadly the given reason is that the game modle tank/robot design was to plain with smooth flat surfaces with very little deco. For a line that is supposed to give us figures that are high detailed characters accurate to their source material. This line has been failing to uphold their own moto by pulling this stunt. Their quality of design seems to be slipping too. Did they drop/lose/move people from the design/engineering team or something? These figures would have gotten better representations in the Legacy line since that's where all the better figures are coming from lately. 😢
suposedly they didn't have access to the original designs of the previous deluxe toys, or high res models from activision, so they ripped the 3d models directly from the games
@@xstube9621 No, actually its the other way around. They couldn't rip them from the game because of activision. So all they had to go on were old designs and second hand game footage. Even with those issues it doesn't explain these engineering design issues that don't make any sense to as why. Such as the useless conectors to nothing behind the knees Sadly the whole project kinda feels lack luster of devotion and dedication to the source, barring the Activision issues.
@@ZedMazaus480 are you sure? king_samlock says: " Similar to the development process of our traditional studio series movie figures, we utilized the three dimensional character models from the game to translate a functional transformation for these figures." naveskoorb says: "We were able to rip the CAD from the original game to make sure we got Optimus's very tanky proportions correct."
@@xstube9621 Protoman of the transformer slag podcast said otherwise. An he's getting his info from the hasbro guys himself. Look up his videos talking about these figures. especially about Megs here. Hasbro PR is hype double talk to build hype and leaves out the real info since its rep damaging when they add what isn't posative. Or at least prevents massive profits.
@@ZedMazaus480 well king_samlock, Sam Smith is Design Director at Hasbro and naveskoorb, Evan Brooks is Designer - Japanese Brands at Hasbro, so you say they are lying and are just PR people?
have you ever thought about ordering thumbnails for your videos? I think you know that it will give more views and attract attention. If you're interested, I can do a test thumbnail for you and send you my portfolio.
Upgrade kits are fantastic, but when considering how expensive Voyagers are getting, you shouldn't have to spend an extra 30 dollars in order to make a 40-50 dollar figure significantly better.
Skipping this. He’s too small and blah looking. If the line isn’t canceled and we eventually get FoC I’ll grab that Megatron. He should be bigger than Prime and this guy just doesn’t cut it. Hopefully the line is able to put a few more good figures out (shockwave/Soundwave/Onslaught are my main wants) to get us into FoC.. where the designs are better and we get the Dinobots. We will see.
The game designs cheated quite a lot with their in-game transformations and I feel the same way you do with these WFC guys. It's kind inevitable that we'll see that Voyager GE Ratchet and Decepticon unit with similar design oddities.
I picked up mine yesterday and well other then the knees I think its good. plus I can take siege Six gun and give him weapons that are accurate enough to the game.
They legally cannot do that, and it's stupid to have the leader of the Decepticons transform into something that's useless unless wielded by someone else.
