AAA said the state's fatality rate on highways is the highest it's been in 15 years. Missouri and Montana are the only states without the laws for all drivers.
Some people feel they have a right to space out on their phones while the car is moving! I rather see people pay for their stupidity on the road. We need to bug our legislators to make sure that those who feel they have to stare at garbage on their phones and text would be forced to get out of the traffic lane and stop before they cause another accident.
This is so sad, but a law is not going to stop people from texting while driving just like speed limit signs don't stop people from speeding. But hopefully, with laws on the books, people that cause accidents and deaths will be held accountable. I don't understand though why the district attorney could not have charged this person with manslaughter because of their inattention that caused the crash. It wasn't just an accident! It was blatant disregard for the safety of others.
