Hi Shinichi. Recent studies indicate that panic attacks are chemical reactions in your body - and a big likely cause will be your microbiome in your gut. "Bad bacteria" in your gut can send negative anxious thoughts to your brain via the brain-gut connection. A change in diet can help - some people find eating more whole food plant based foods help. Some people find going paleo (i.e. no grains) help. However, I realise a change in diet may not be good for your RU-vid channel ☹️...but your health should come first. Have a search online for diet and panic/anxiety attacks.

I’m so sorry you’re struggling with this. I have had them all of my life. The worst one i had it felt like a stroke. My face felt numb and i felt dizzy. It was so scary. But my doctors also couldn’t find anything. My mind also works in a similar way. Thinking about things that are far away. Becoming overwhelmed with fears. It is hard to battle yourself, your mind especially when it takes you right to the worst case scenario. You are brave for sharing this. And i truly appreciate you sharing it. Thank you

Panic attacks can do all sorts of crazy things to us physically and in turn it makes us panic even more. I’m glad you’ve found some help in filming them, and I appreciate the insight we get from these videos. Not only are you helping yourself a bit, but you may be helping others as well... Thank you for staying strong brother. All we can do is live this crazy life to the best of our abilities.

Your primal brain made you have a panic attack, it sends serotonin into overload so you can survive danger. We are built to fight or flight to survive. But our thinking brain cannot tell the primal brain they aren’t in real eminent danger (like someone is going to kill you) it could be a simple stress that can trigger your primal brain to kick out all those endorphins to survive and the body needs to do something with that. You will feel an array of emotions and physical discomfort. Now, when this happens. Don’t try to go figure it out. Just ride with it. Understand your brain is sending a load of serotonin out and your body is dealing with that by all the symptoms you are experiencing. You need to close your eyes. Take a deep breathe. Think of something that makes you smile. Here is a trick. Right when your panic attack begins do this: look for 4 things you can touch, then listen for 3 things you can hear, the. 2 things you can smell, and one thing you can taste. Understanding how your body and mind work , will lead you to freedom. You will always probably have panic attacks because our brain has not had the millions of years to evolve. We no longer have to run from bears like we did as cavemen, yet we still have our caveman brain. Our fight or flight brain. Our thinking brain cannot yet tell it that we are okay. In this modern world we still have stress, and our old caveman brain will send a load of unnecessary signals to freak out. Understanding how our brains work really, really helps. Do the above. I promise you, afterwards you will feel a little calmer. Repeat it until you feel that you feel calmer. Good luck.

Try going on Live stream when you have these episodes so that you have live viewer commenters to talk to and help calm you and not feel so alone. As far as topics to talk about look around the room and find one item to talk about like where did you get it and the story of it, etc.

Brother..... my heart broke to see you hurting. I’m so glad that you recognized what you were experiencing. My mother used to have anxiety attacks, with symptoms so much like yours. To the point, where she thought that she was having a heart attack as well. She did what you did, and that was take her med, and try and calm herself down. I’m glad that you picked up your camera and started filming, so you wouldn’t feel alone. Continued prayers for you brother! Take care!! ❤️

These videos really are special. The candidness and vulnerability you have in discussing it with us is commendable because this isn't talked about but is a reality many deal with. So this is giving so much support to your viewers facing issues like this and hopefully the viewers in turn can let you know we're here for you.

My trigger for panic attacks used to be stores/supermarkets busy places ,now i always use a shoppinglist to go quick in and out. And get fresh air quick. Very deep breaths. I hope you can find ways to cope with your panic attacks. Next week we get heatwave too in The Netherlands.

I also having anxiety, panic attack and depression, i know how it feels of it and how complicated it is to describe it to other people especially if that people seems skeptical. About 2 weeks ago, during the conversations with my bestfriends, it leads about me opening up about my problems, and one of them is responding not nicely and very judgemental, like trying to lecture me about life and tell me to suck it up, not to mention seeing his expression showing all this things is sort of a BS and probably he thinks I'm just being dramatic, basically everything he did is all the things one shouldn't do or say to a people who have this kind of problem. I was and am still very much hurt and cried at that moment, and personally i wont talk over any of my problems to him anymore and fully close myself to him since then. For people who reading this, if you don't understand the feeling or can't relate to what a depression and anxiety or panic attack is and one of ur friends open up about the problem, please just stay silent or don't think it's something we are just being dramatic about, sometimes we just need to be listened to when we tell our problems and got reassurance of supports, not to be criticized or given some advice that will only leads to offend and being insensitive. For Shinichi, thank you for keep on sharing about this matter and problem as I think lots of people are still skeptical about this, and I wish you still keep safe and stay strong. ♥︎♥︎♥︎

Shinichi I admire that even though you go through certain challenges that you continue to move forward. You continue to experience life, and show the multiple layers of being human in the world. This I feel speaks to your inner and deeper self. May you continue to be a great presence in the world. Thank you for sharing your life with us. Remembering self care is very important.

Shinichi, I'm so sorry about the difficult panic attack. It is so much to go through.. Thank you for continuing to persevere, even with these challenges. You mentioned feeling sick to your stomach and having some chest pain. I know you've talked to your doctors, but have they ever tried giving you medicine to reduce stomach acid or treat GERD? Some common medications here in the United States are Prilosec, Nexium, and Aciphex. GERD can cause symptoms similar to what you are describing, with pain in your chest and possibly even queasiness. Controlling the acid in your stomach can help if that is the problem. As for how to handle difficult things, I have two recommendations. One is that I remind myself to take everything one step at a time. All I have to do is one step. Then, I can do the next step. I don't have to accomplish everything simultaneously, or think about all the steps at once. This often helps me when something extremely difficult is ahead of me. When I am doing something really difficult, and I feel almost as if I cannot keep going with it, I often take a moment to stop and think about what is good. This may sound odd, but it it really helps me. I think about five things that have been good in the day so far. Or I find five things that are good around me, right in that moment, like looking for pretty flowers in the room, or somebody smiling and being friendly when I was waiting in line, or the beautiful blue sky outside. I find things I can feel grateful for, even if otherwise things are very challenging. This helps me feel better, and gives me strength to keep going. I don't know any of this helps, but I send you hugs and love from California. I'm rooting for you!

I also was struggling with panic attacks a few years ago. What helped me is the realisation that they cannot harm me. When I felt one coming I always said to myself: "Come on, do your thing. Let me get over with it, you cannot do anything to me." - They got weaker and shorter over time and I rarely get them anymore. Not saying this is working for everybody, but try it. It's difficult, but possible. I wish you the best Shinichi. You can do this.

@Shinichi'sWorld ...It seems like, reaching out to your viewers, when you have these panic attacks, is a way to cope. The fact that you have identified this, is so huge, and such an accomplishment. You are a good man, and so many love you - but we as human being's feel alone in that moment. And it's beyond terrifying. I think you did good because when panic sets in, if we cannot distract ourselves - the panic gets worse. I say this because I go through similar things. I am rooting for you. Keep fighting for the happiness you deserve and have right too.

I believe the sharp pain is something possibly really medical and the fear it causes triggers a panic attack. Have you had your gall bladder checked out? Sharp pain on right that radiates to your back could be a gall bladder attack, the nausea is also part of that. Having a history of panic disorder, the fear that floods your system with adrenaline when the pain hits, can trigger the panic attack. Often times gall bladder disease is over looked and difficult to diagnose. That being said, panic disorder can be very debilitating. Those who have not experienced it can not understand why you can’t just “snap out of it!” Sharing your feelings and getting support from others is important. I am glad that talking through it on video helps you some and I am sure that it helps others understand how this disorder affects people who have it. Visualization of a peaceful place and self reassurance that you are OK, helps me. Taking your medication right away is important also. You are a brave man and I know you can conquer this when it occurs. YOU are loved!

No Sinichi it's not ridiculous it's a condition and I myself am glad you're sharing something so private. I think about dying alone all the time. My mom's 75 and if she dies I'm all by myself. I have an uncle but he's much to busy with his life for me. He basically doesn't have the time. I have 2 suggestions for you 1 would be to see a counselor and the other is to see a cardiologist this way it might ease your mind a bit. For your fear of traveling just keep thinking to yourself that you're not alone you've got your family you're going to see your awesome sister and mom and Sitoshi is going to be there with you very soon. Then you need to visualize it. Sitoshi has been with you through thick and thin the good times and the bad. That right there is truly something special. Obviously so are you as there's so many wonderful people in your corner. Even though we haven't met I'LL be there too.🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗😊😊😊😊. Keep smiling I've been told it gets better.

Little brother, I feel ya. These are terrible, scary feelings that take over your mind and body. You feel like you're all alone. Heart palpitations, inability to breath. PANIC is the perfect name for these attacks. I'm inconsolable, frightened and unable to breath which makes it worse. Hopefully it will get better and one day we can learn to control these but they do scare the heck out of you. Thank you for sharing, love you and praying for you.

Shinichi, I'm so sorry you're going through this. This is something I struggle with and I know how hard it is to illustrate these feelings with just words when so much is happening in your head. What helps me, is trying to do something that will snap me out of that state. Sometimes, I turn the shower on and stand in the water. Other times working up a sweat will do it really well, running or even doing jumping jacks. It's so hard, but as long as you keep in mind in the moment that it isn't forever. It's the most scary thought to me that I could possibly feel like that forever. You're not alone. Take care Shinichi 💓

Oh you poor thing. Those are terrible. My mother had them all the time when I was young, but good news is medication can do wonders. I’ve had a few as I get older and it’s so hard to explain that it feels like you’re dying. That you can’t tell the difference between if your body feels all these strange pains because your anxious or if your anxious because of the strange pains. But if you just get a clonazapan prescription with the right dosage for you it can really help. Also just time, my mother now knows her symptoms so she just takes the pill. It still doesn’t stop it but it is manageable and it goes away much quicker. I once got a massive attack driving back from the gym and I thought I was going to die alone in a parking lot. I’d say a good diet and exercise can help but you live in Japan so you probably have that already. It’s a terrible struggle that not a lot of people understand. They’ll tell you oh just stop worrying there’s nothing to worry about. But they don’t feel like we do, it feels like a heart attack or our body just shutting down and we don’t know if the adrenaline is a response or a cause. But it is manageable. You can even go on a low level daily anti anxiety medication to try and keep it in check plus have fast acting pills just for attacks. Oh my god the heartbeat thing!!! I do that every time and I freak myself out worse every time. It sucks having to take meds to feel normal but they will help.

I can SO identify...and needed to see this today. I recently developed social anxiety, and for the last few months, whenever I start to get ready for work, I just start shaking, get really breathless, and dread leaving the house. Sometimes I shake so badly, can't even do my makeup. In that state, the ideal thing is to meditate, but in the middle of it, it's nearly impossible to do. So I just keep reminding myself to breathe. And again. And again. Today it didn't work, so I called in sick. Within minutes of the call, the shaking stopped. You're right...panic attacks are irrational, and they suck.

Hi Shinichi, Panics attacks, are signs that there's something wrong in our lives, that needs to be addressed, and usually, it's something, we need to leg go, such as a person, a job, or our own thoughts and believes. Last time I've had a panic attack, I was fast asleep, it woke me up, as I couldn't breath, I was terrified, and I thought that I was going to die, because I could not breath at all, and it lasted a very long time, and I was preparing myself mentally, to die, as I couldn't see, that I was going to last much longer, without breaking. Then it got better, and I started to slowly started to breath again, even though, I was still terrified, I was scared even to breathe, at that point, which it sounds crazy I know. I know what the cause of my panic attacks, anxiety, stress and fears were.... It was my long term abusive partner, which had been abusing me in many ways, for 13 years. I eventually, literally, run away, in December, with only the cloths I was wearing, and never went back, and I've never had an attack since. I've been meditating a lot, even to help myself going through the depression, that all those years of abuse, caused me. I'm slowly getting better. You must find the root of the problem, what is the cause of your panic attacks, and knowing your past experiences, it's not wonder, that you have some mental crap, to get rid of. I love you, and I'm here if you need to talk, I'll be like an older sister to you, and a friend. ♡♡♡

I know what these feel like, I used to go through these a lot when I was a kid.I actually didn't go anywhere because I was very afraid it would happen and no one would understand. Now I know what it is, something very simple, something my own body produces but is depleted by stress, toxic people, toxic diet etc.lack of glutathione is responsible for all illnesses mental and physical, replenishing this antioxidant is very important.Glutathione even prevents aging.

Hi Shinichi, it's worrying that you are having more of these attacks nowadays. Or u just kept them to urself? Anyway, I think its stupid to pretend u're happy and ur life is perfect if ur not and it isnt. Being human means having feelings, good & bad; self denial means lying to urself & if u cant be honest with even urself, that's really sad. When im down, i try to do something enjoyable to lift my spirits up. And then i tell myself to snap out of the funk and remind myself what i shud be happy about & thankful for; that thr's ppl out thr having it much more worse than me because there are. As the saying goes, "There but for the grace of god, goes I". I hope u find some inspiration and help from the advice in the comments. Take care & keep genki - u are our light bringer in our dark days, hope u will think of us as ur light in ur dark days.

Hey Shinichi I know these are really hard to get through. I`m the same. I'm ok one minute and then all of a sudden I get a twinge in my chest and I think or convince myself I'm about to have a heart attack. Adrenaline rushes in and I get the shakes and the sweats. I keep checking my pulse because it's always racing. They really do always happen out of the blue when you least expect them. I also feel really washed out after a panic attack too. I don't have any meds for it, I just tell myself to calm down. It doesn't always work initially, but eventually the effects wear off. I'm still here after one just yesterday late at night and I am much happier right now. Take care my lovely all the way from the UK xxx

Today I had a panic attack. It's different that yours, but I feel very scared too. Relaxation doesn't help me at all. Looking for something to do and try not to think helps me a little. Hope someone can find a cure for this illness. Take care, Shinichi.

That's very interesting. It seems to me (not an expert) that these recent attacks are when your brain is idle. Making the video occupies the higher functions effectively distracting you from the attack. Sounds like a good strategy to end attacks more quickly. 💚

Oh my goodness. All I could think about when I was planning my trip to Japan was "What if I have a panic attack while I'm on the plane and I can't get out to get fresh air?" or "What if I have a panic attack while I'm over there and no one can help me?" Those thoughts were almost enough to make me too afraid go do something than I had always wanted to do. Mine also always make me feel like I'm having a heart attack and I feel nauseous and constantly check my pulse. It's so awful. So, so awful. Thank you for being open about your panic both so that those of us who also have anxiety have someone we can relate to and so that those without this problem can see what it's like.

I know this wouldn’t work for everyone, but something that worked for me was just embracing the panic, telling myself “if I am destined to die right now I will, that is my life’s plan and who am I to change that?” The more I embraced the terror the quicker I overcame attacks. One of my biggest triggers was busy public spaces and this New Years I was in Japan, Tokyo, celebrating Hatsumode. As a Japanese citizen you would know how intense celebrating Hatsumode can be, suffocating, shoulder to shoulder, no quick escape routes. But I did it, and I’m so proud. I can’t tell you what will work for you, but I would recommend embracing it and trying to continue with your day. Giving in to the panic was what worked for me. 5 years panic disorder free. I hope you find that something that works for you soon! 💙 sending my well wishes your way.

It pains and saddens me to see you in pain and afraid. I never had any panic attacks or random anxiety, but maybe try making hot tea to ease your mind and keep yourself distracted. You are an extremely strong person and you CAN overcome anything ☺

I occasionally have panic attacks myself so can sympathize. I had one on a trip to Halifax. My boyfriend though was not supportive. He yelled at me & told me to grow up. Like we can chose when this happens to us. Comes on when you don’t expect it. Thank you for posting this. Least someone understands how so feel. Love your video. Thank you! 😎👍

I have same feeling such as I suddenly feel fast heart beats and feel like out of breath and sweating a lot by doing nothing and thinking nothing. I’m getting a lot better nowadays. When you think how many people are supporting you as always and how much love you are receiving from them and what else you could ask as a single person in this world. You are not alone and none of us is. I always believe that faith keeps people strong and hopeful. I have come to Canada by myself in 2012 when I was 18. In past six years, 80% I spent by myself with very few friends and Skyping my family. I had lots of stress and loneliness. Every time when I felt anxious or confused, I have been always telling myself, it gonna be ok and it could be worse. As well, I always believe each problem will have a solution, if you can’t find out yourself, there are people who love you so much will help you in any ways. Loneliness is something we can’t get rid of or it is part of us, we need to learn to fight against with the belief of those people who you love and love you.

Always remember that the panic attack is transient. It will go shortly. I understand as I have had the heart attack panic attack too and ended up at the doctors, who just proved that my heart was fast but healthy. I hope that helps. They always pass.

I love watching you and Satoshi's videos 💖 You guys are so genuine in your work and you ooze strength and courage 💖 Even though these panic attacks keep trying to get you down, you endure, Shinichi 💖 You are stronger than you might think 😍 The fact that you got up and out of a toxic relationship, managed to build a RU-vid channel and keep living and loving life like you do, is immensly powerful 💖 When your fear about travelling alone creeps up on you, try to tell yourself how strong you really are! You are not alone at all 💖 You have us with you 💖 And you always have Satoshi with you, wether it is physically or spiritually 😘 When I got panic attacks a while ago, I was told by my doctor to focus on my breathing and then maybe try to distract myself like you did making this video. It was hard work, but with a little practice I managed to get through it much better than I did before. Also; medication helped, too 😂 I hope it will be a LOOOONG while till you have your next panic attack (preferably none at all because they suck), but if or when it comes; remember your strength 💖 You are AWESOME! 💖💖😘

Hi shinichi, I am sorry to see you go through this , I know it's not easy but I am really proud of you for picking yourself up and dealing with it by starting to film it, it was a very courageous thing to do. I believe that this is the best way to overcome any situation or feeling by confronting it openly. Don't be scared to travel, just go and focus on each day, don't allow the fear to steal away the joy and freedom of traveling

I know in my area (I live in Ohio, USA) it depends who gets sent. If it’s the local fire departments EMS then you don’t get charged. If it’s a private company that shows up then you get charged.

thank you for posting this shinichi. i really appreciate it when someone feels comfortable enough to talk about mental health, it helps me (and others, no doubt) feel less alone and it also allows people to learn about it. i’m really sorry it’s affected your love of traveling. when i do travel i try to have a plan in case something happens (app to check my heart rate, people i can call, a place i can feel safe in, things to keep myself busy, my medication, list of breathing exercises, ...). it doesn’t solve everything but it helps a bit to know that you are prepared. as for bad days what works the best for me is taking care of my dog and researching things i am passionate about - i have to force myself in the beginning but once i’ve gotten started it’s slightly easier to put myself in a positive mindset. it can be so hard to handle panic attacks especially when you are on your own. i’m glad filming it relieved some of the pain and worry. im crossing my fingers that you feel okay enough to travel to hawaii this summer, and that you can have a nice time there - you deserve it! my dog and i are rooting for you :)

Hi Shinichi! This is Caren from Texas. I sent you guys the treats from a Texas a couple of years ago. Anyway, I'd love to recommend a great podcast episode to you that I just found. I've dealt with anxiety and panic attacks for over 20 years, and this really helped me. Good luck! And, you will learn to deal with this. The podcast is called "Not Another Anxiety Show with Kelli Walker" and the episode to start with is episode 3, called "What Do I Do To Make Anxiety Go Away." It's very good!

Shinichi, bless you. I'm agoraphobic and when I have to go somewhere - especially if I know it's going to be noisy and with lots of people - I feel faint and nauseous and get a bad stomach (my body's defence mechanism - making me suffer to prevent me suffering, lol. No mistaking I have Irish blood in me). I take Promazine daily to help me cope with anxiety and depression. You are lucky that you have the love and support of Satoshi, and you also have Justin there to cuddle into if you have a panic attack at home. I have three cats and they always know when I need some extra attention. Stroking and cuddling a pet can really help reduce stress and my cats have saved my life on so many occasions. However, that isn't an option if you are travelling. Someone once told me to try the 7/11 breathing exercise (not something you can buy in a 7/11 store, lol). Breathe in for seven seconds then breathe out for eleven seconds; the idea is that you expel more carbon dioxide from your body and concentrating on counting as you breathe takes your mind off why you are panicking in the first place. Try it and see if it helps xx

This is really painful to watch, only because I think I watched someone go through this and didn’t really understand at that time. At 13:06 you used the word “depression” and I know this person was depressed. I now wish I was more understanding. Are you getting help for this? I hope your sharing helps you. I think the person I am speaking of shared their feeling with no one, keeping everything inside. Eventually this person passed and I now think depression was a major part. Take care of yourself. Get help when you need it.

So sorry you had another anxiety attack, Shinichi. Having your brain lie to you sucks beyond belief. I don't have any life-changing, earth-shattering tips for self-care. Mostly, I just turn off Twitter when the news is too bad. I've also found that I function best when I plan ahead a little. If my friends ask me to go to the cinema with them, I'd like to know a day or two ahead, and not "OMG it starts in 30 minutes, run!" Less stress = happier Ken.

You are so strong dealing with those! I do have these but they are triggered by certain things and events so it's a bit different, also I mostly deal with social anxiety. Coming out of nowhere must be so hard. And it's totally understandable that you start to wonder about future events, I always do. A friend of mine had exactly those thoughts (dying alone etc.) while having a panic attack. His doctor told him, sometimes there are reasons as stress, but some people tend to have a physical imbalance of some sort. He started changing some things and traveled regardless. It was hard sometimes but in hindsight he told me, it was worth it.For me talking always helps, maybe it's similar for you, that's why filming is good for you, it takes the focus away from the internal thoughts. I sometimes start to sing to steady my breathing (strange, I know). There is nothing "wrong" with you in the sense of the word. I know it's too late for this attack, but: we are here. Stay strong! You survived al these attacks till now. Never forget how strong you are!
