Played this build on delirium. Absolute beast. I recommend picking up jewel with konckback chance on hit, and put annoiment from casia on amulet for knockback. I hope ball lighting and miner will be not heavy nerfeted so I can start with this build again :)
I tried this entire league to figure out why I was dying so much with BL. Apparently the answer was lack of Acro/Phase Acro (and not skipping Delirium), so thanks for that.

Popularity: About 12% roughly (top build at start) of players used this for delerium including myself as tytykiller promoted it last league - very strong and cheap - the pre Nerf delirium made it a high death char as standing still but it made made me enough to swap chars I spent 7c for day1 tremor (as huge demand) managed to six link one day 2 sold my 5 link for 40c day 2 Koams was 98c ish when I got it Good starter and if it's not nerfed I can't not play again but it definitely suffers from it's popularity
I guess another (hidden?) plus is that since tremor rods are usually pretty cheap, getting two and 5l one (prophecy?) then use that while throwing fuses on the other is very nice in early stages off the league. Skipping the tabula is also ~20c extra to spend on other things.
@@pathofmatthI didn't buy it, i sold it for 40c (got for 7c day 1) I linked mine to 6 links so sold 5s, admittedly it was 2 off perfect but I sold a meh one for 35c aswell , made me v happy day 2 Edit: poe.ninja shows 38c-33c first 2 days so about right for mine even if I was lucky

My favorite ability in Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance back in the day was Ball Lightning so I've wanted to play that skill since I got deep into PoE (3.5) but never have found a good self cast build. I've never done mines but I don't think I've ever seen a league start capable pseudo 4L easily clear T16s so I may look in to this build. Thanks!
I was looking at playing this in new league and just read the patch notes, they BUFFED Ball Lightning. Ball Lightning Now deals 3 to 57 Lightning Damage at gem level 1 (from 3 to 48), to 28 to 533 Lightning Damage at gem level 20 (from 22 to 426). Now has an added Damage effectiveness of 50% (from 40%). Now costs 12 mana at gem level 1 (from 13), up to 23 mana at gem level 20 (from 25). 😂🤣

Hey man I appreciate your content. By looking into your videos I've made the most amount of currency playing poe this league as opposed to my previous.(maybe like 15ex, which isn't too much but I'm not too hardcore of a player and the highest level I've reached is 89 if I recall correctly). And I haven't even sat down to watch all of your videos. I'm sure there's much more to learn. btw this was my first ever league flipping and your videos have helped a lot. Also one last thing, I've never played a trapper/miner before and was wondering if reflect would be an issue for this kind of build, might try it next league.

Path of Matth hi, been playing this build to lvl 88 and it’s great. However, how do you sustain mana? My 6 link ball lightning consumes 24 mana per mine so it’s very expensive. Despite my mana flask, I often go oom esp during boss fights. Thanks.
Tried akanes ball lightning miner and it was rly nice. u can facetank EVERYTHING with 3k life. A little bit of flask cluster abuse but yeah...nearly every build does it by now. Also dmg isnt rly that high bcause u invest a lot in survivability but ball lightning still does his work. It just gets a bit more expensive if u want some more dmg. I love miners in general but always had the problem that u cant lay and instant detonate with most spells. But it works perfect with ball lightning AND the balls also target enemies theirself. Have also an icicle sabo and hes extremly nice for bossing but gets nuked against huge crowds of enemies which is pretty normal in delirium so i did quit it. Also good idea with detonate on left mouse button ;) i normally run phase run there.
to the people playing this build, do you have mana issues too? I can't play a single map without using my flask and in the video he barely touches his mana while he is fighting mr. Chicken
If you dont have it get the "Enduring" prefix on your mana flask, that makes it so it doesnt stop even if you are at full mana so basically you regen all the time whith your flask piano
this was my league starter as well. I am not a fan of tremor rod so I skipped it and started straight as wand/scepter. while a good league starter, the ceiling is pretty low and I would not use it to farm for more than 2 weeks into the league.i farmed about 200 ex on my miner then swapped to harold early into league. not sure if I will repeat doing miner. I think cyclone slayer might be a better league starter depending on the farming strategy.
Miner is always the easiest league starter since you don't need more than a wand /staff with a bit of spell dmg or tremor rod. The only other that can do this withput currency and equipment is essence drain, but has the problem that for endgame is pretty expensive to min max, but mines always cost nothing.
can you post some levelling explanation-guide? i.e. what gems to use/what passives take first and so on? really nice build, whant to try it on the new league :)
If you want to level with a miner, you should go with stormblast mines and orb of storm. You take SB mine, link it with trap and mine damage, swift assembly, and something else that does damage, take every mine node on the tree, take the mana and life on kill nodes near shadow tree start and you should level your shadow easily. For other links you can do OOS + added lightning and CoH+curse or pcoc or faster casting. Use smoke mine for movement, and stack a lot of mines on bosses while they talk before fighting. Also take lightning spire trap for bosses, it helps
Bit late, but he has the detonate mines tied to his left click, so as you move around it's automatically triggering. It's a nice trick for miner builds, it also works for warcrys.
Well, I've been playing BL since metamorphe. All I can say that all you need for this build is a Tremor Rod. Now I'm playing SSF Delirium and I'm using a craft wand (spell + critical by using essences) and a shield. Using this combination will increase your survivebility. Btw, Tremor Rod drop is pretty good. I got two during my SSF leveling. You can also use Arc. Mapping with Arc and bossing with BL. Please dont nerf BL GGG 😭😭😭😭
@@porkypie1231 your Tremor rod should look like this: 1R, 2G, 3B. Arc main gems: Controlled Destruction Trap Damage Swift Assembly. BL main gems: Slower Projectiles or Greater Projec. Swift Assembly. The reason for that is bc u can use Swift Assembly and Minefield, throwing 21 mines as fast as you can on the ground when you're bossing. pastebin.com/kJke9X0B
Which is very bad decision due to Blastchain support. To maximize your damage you have to detonate only One time. In this case every mine in sequence will deal 5% more damage with every blast. Second Detonation will start a second chain of blasts with separate "5% more damage for each mine in sequence" bonus. All you need is stack up a 20-25 mines then detonate it one time and then keep throwing addition mines while first ones are detonating. All this bullshit shows you a nice damage bonus, 35+ mine in sequence will have a 170%+ more damage and thats what important. If you'll be fast enough you'll see a literally triple damage of your mines. Ofc it depends of your throwing speed, so pay some attention to this stat. In this video detonation occurs a several times in second. There is absolutely NO bonus from Blastchain support. What actually means this build a much more powerful.
Alira is a very good choice early in general (easier gearing) and usually the go to for crit builds (except very high char lvl where a jewel socket might be better). For Miner the mana regen is also great.
This is a great starter, I can 100% recommend it. I'm planning on doing something similar next league. It's great for leveling, amazing for early bossing and can scale as much as you want if you enjoy the build.
Scales well, with min maxing you can get to 12/13k es on a low life setup, double dagger/wands for 100ish ex i think maybe less, but u can do confortably (1 death average) sirus a8 on a 15ex budget(that what i spent) Great build
Things you failed to mention: 1. Didn't talk about the skill tree , in true trade league target audience fashion. 2. You should mention that the tremor rod mod ( paraphrasing) 'mines can detonate an additional time' is the real carry on that map run.. If it was just the simple 3 link or even 4 link then just drop the tremor rod and use a 4 link chest piece with the same setup.. Then retry that map.. My prediction : not that easy. 3. You need a 3d mouse button to allocate detonate in order for mimes not to feel garbage on use cause same hand finger coordination is much more comfortable . Other than that, its a nice safe choice going mines.. They are in a great spot right now since there are many more op stuff on line to get nerfed.

I said this build carries, and showed the items, if you do that build on a crappy wand and wonder why it doesnt work, clearly thats not following my guiide, right? I dont have a single issue by putting DD mines and move on the same key? I literally only hold down my left key to move around and let auto-detonate do its thing while i tap my right mouse click to throw mines
@@pathofmatth i was a bit out of my lane there.. Yup, this is a tremor rod build so not using it does break the concept of this build. Also i had no idea mines auto detonate . Either way , my bad ! That was a good counter argument !
Did you end up running this in Harvest? BL and slower proj got hella nerfed, but I think for your purposes the end result is probably a buff and they mostly nerfed my archmage shotgunners?

Hey Matth ,i've actually went ahead and leveled up a shadow,started doing your build,i'm currently level 89 ,so yea ,i can confirm that this build can handle any content the game has to offer,i only spent like 2ex on it ? even with the 6l tremor since i got it for an ex .but my question is ,how can we take this build further? where can we improve on damage mainly since survivability is enough.

So started this build today. pretty smooth leveling so far using dual axiom's... Lvl 59 now, and just got tremor rod so was juggling around some gear and started using Malachai's Artifice to apply EE with armageddon brand.... the problem is my tooltip is showing some lightning damage on the brand from Herald of Thunder... doesn't this basically screw up my EE? or at least make it only half as effective? Please let me know.. thx.
Yeah. Herald of Thunder is going to add lightning damage to your armageddon brand, which will add resistance to your enemies. I’d recommend something like Wrath or Zealotry instead if you need a damage aura.
Hey Path of Matth im currently trying out your build, i think its really good for a starter but im having trouble with my strength, i need 191 strength to be able to use the kaom's heart. How did you fix that problem?
Couple leagues ago I played GC miner and I used Kaoms roots and it should be easy to farm up div cards for it. Roots also give you massive boost in HP while keeping links in chest so you can even opt for shield set up. If you are interested in ES based miner check out bearleague's guide on forum there is plenty of information there.

I'd go with the trap boots, with ball lighting/arc socketed in them. This way you have a pseudo 5link for leveling, until you get all the right gear. But this is just me!!!!
Use stormblast mines and take all the mine nodes on the tree. Take some life and mana too. Use orb of storm for additional dps and you'll do the acts easily

the mine itself doesnt gain charges, but the mines arent the ones using mana, YOU are, so you gain the charges which affects your global spell dmg / crit chance which affects your mines in turn
i would like to make this build my starter in harverst but im not used to PoB . how can i see the skill point to put in order ? like to lvl 0 until 20 , 21 to 40 , etc ? so far i only used arc totem hierophant kikarazu+soul mantle build . its verry good for clean map but not for boss , i will be able to play this build ? thk you

dont need it, its fairly minimal damage, the tree is also very low lvl, so you can get it if you really want to tbh. I think mines and TR Trickster are both amazing, but they have very different playstyles, so it comes down to what you enjoy playing more

Mines being able to be detonated again AND the 7th link is crazy hard to beat I guess farm t16 tower for "the tower" cards and use your ancient orbs on staffs, but afaik there's no guaranteed way I've dropped 2 so far in ssf, it's not t1 rarity
All you need is a little bit more aoe in the tree and you’ll still be hitting the max amount of damage ticks on most enemies. And ball lightning gem got buffed anyways so it’s still an amazing starter

I'm online basically at all times, I'm only basically ever "playing" when I'm streaming, otherwise I'm afk or talking with people, as for how much time I spend making currency, about 1/3rd of my time streaming is spent actively trying to make currency, since the majority of the time I'm just answering questions and whatnot
@@Sadick67 I assume he means just buying base, this enchant on armour/evasion helm will be cheap as it doesn't fit into LL or CI versions hence majority of people will not be interested. That being said you will also have to spend other currency, be it essences or fossils/resonators to craft it but those are easily farmable.
@@Sadick67 it's been the case for a long time, also, the helmet enchant doesn't do ANYTHING for us in terms of damage, it's just kinda nice for open room clearing, thats all. 0 dmg from it
