The New York Knicks recently went out and caught the NBA world by surprise when they made a trade for OG Anunoby, Malachi Flynn & Precious Achiuwa from the Toronto Raptors for RJ Barrett & Immanuel Quickley. Initially, NBA analysts, fans, etc, weren’t too sure what to make of this trade and how Tom Thibodeau would use OG Anunoby in this new Knicks roster. But well, I don’t think anyone was expecting to see what we have from them.
Because this NY Knicks offense being led by both Jalen Brunson & Julius Randle, it now seems to be extremely more free flowing compared to the past with substituting OG Anunoby in exchange for both RJ Barrett & Emmanuel Quickley. Then, you add in pieces like Donte Divincenzo, Josh Hart, Miles McBride, Quinten Grimes, etc, the film shows you have they’ve almost unlocked a new level to their potential.
Then regarding the Knicks defense, words can’t do the improvements we’re seeing justice. Because from OG Anunoby now anchoring this aspect, & being paired up with other guys like Isaiah Hartenstein, Precious Achiuwa now, Jericho Sims, Mitchell Robinson when he returns from injury, etc, the Knicks are showcasing the best defense in the NBA right now. And if they’re able to somehow keep up the historic production they are showing us, this team could be legit title contenders in the NBA in 2024.
This video includes 2024 New York Knicks highlights, also including topics like New york knicks 2024, new york knicks highlights, knicks vs wizards, knicks vs 76ers, knicks sixers, knicks bulls, knicks timberwolves, og anunoby knicks highlights, og anunoby new york knicks, jalen brunson knicks highlights, julius randle highlights, knicks offense, knicks defense, og knicks, knicks trade og, knicks espn, knicks undisputed, ny knicks live, knicks recap, knicks full game, knicks film school, knicks basketball, knicks bucks, knicks news today, knicks trade rumors, knicks injury news, knicks post game, knicks interview, tom thibodeau knicks, donte divincenzo knicks, josh hart knicks, miles mcbride knicks, og anunoby defense knicks, og knicks highlights, og anunoby trade, og anunoby interview, etc, which I do not own ANY of the rights to whatsoever, as these are intended to be used under the guidelines of fair use through RU-vid.

When you see OG, Hart, and Grimes on the court together, you’re in for a stretch were scoring becomes damn near impossible. We’re keeping teams to 100.6 ppg since the trade. Chicago was leading by 4 at half on us and in the last 6 minutes of that game, they were stuck on 95 points until Coby White hit an inconsequential 3 when the game was out of reach. The Sixers got their ish pushed in. We gave Embiid fits and Maxey was only effective using his speed. We held them to 92 points. OG put Anthony Edwards AND KAT in jail when he was guarding them. Oh and Josh Hart in his last TWO GAMES is a +74. The man is fucking everywhere.

If you want to talk about the biggest surprise on the knicks, you HAVE TO talk about Isaiah Hartenstein! Ever since Mitchell Robinson got injured (15 games), Hartenstein is averaging 8.4 PPG/10.3 RPG/2.5 APG with 1.5 Steals and 1.8 Blocks a game. During that span, He is the only player in the entire NBA to be top 10 in both Steals and Blocks. If you look at only the month of January (since the OG trade), he is even better averaging 10.5 PPG/13.5 RPG/2.8 APG with 2.3 Steals and 3.0 Blocks a game!!! His Blocks and Steals per game numbers in January are BOTH 2nd in the NBA (THIS IS CRAZY) with the only other player even in the top 10 of both being Tyrese Hailburton. His advanced stats for the whole season are also shockingly great as he is 2nd in the entire NBA in Offensive Rebound % and 1st in dEPM (Defensive Estimated Plus-Minus) one of the most well regarded defensive stats. He is playing like the most versatile center in the NBA and NO ONE outside of knicks fans talks about it. You GOTTA make a video about him.

OG completely unlocks Brunson and Randle to their limits since he doesn't require the ball in his hands the way RJ does. As a 3 and D specialist, he spreads the floor so well and puts opposing stars in lockdown. The chemistry and flow is so much smoother than it was with RJ in the lineup and it's showing with these blowout wins over their opponents. I'm excited with this new look Knicks.

OG "was" the most underrated player in the league, I'm not really sure why or how, but now that all the spotlight is on him, the people can see him for the true talent that he is! I am a Raptors fan and I remember distinctively that every single time OG was out of the lineup with injury the raptors would badly struggle for wins. At the time you think ok he can't be that impactful, not when his numbers are not the greatest, but in reality the man brings so much more to the court that meets the eyes.

Meanwhile the Raps just took a blowtorch to the Dubs on their own floor, with RJ sinking 37 on 13 for 20. Barnes only scored 6 points and we still waxed 'em. I thought it was pretty obvious from rip that this was a win/win trade for both teams, who've both gotten EXACTLY what they needed at their current stages of development. That said, I didn't expect both teams to improve as much as they have. Good to see tho...most Raps fans will always have love for OG, so I'm delighted to see him fitting in like a glove and getting a brighter light on his game. As for us, we still gotta figure this Siakam thing out...either gotta extend him or deal him. But having a team that's fun to watch again has been a victory in itself.

Delusional Raptors and Knicks fans still want to debate "who won the trade" or whether "we gave up too much". Stats don't lie my friends. Defense creates offense and OG is making this happen. You don't need to throw up 15-20 points to be effective. His fit with this Knicks team is everything we've needed because he's an unselfish player who's an efficient 3pt shooter and gets easy points by cutting to the basket.

I think this trade made a ton of sense for both teams. I know people are down on RJ but he's still so young and I know people are making a fuss about the contract but it's truly not that bad tbh and once the new CBA kicks in its going to look that much better. IQ is going to get his chance to shine. Great trade for both teams imo.
@jrodkid9731
@jrodkid9731 4 месяца назад
If you watched RJ with the Knicks he was not good fit as a third option. Too many times he was out on the perimeter, with his hands out waiting to get the ball and if he got it, he would force a bad shot on many occasions. He played selfishly in his attempt to "get his" IMO. He's not a bad player but he has his limitations. OG gives them more balance and elite defense on the perimeter obviously which the Knicks desperately needed, stretches the floor, and plays well off the ball which is something Barrett has not learned yet. Giving up Quickley was tough, but this was a win-win trade for both teams

Great video, all these points are true. The spacing is much better, OG’s ability to impact the game without dominating the ball is huge. Him being an elite on-ball defender, with size, who can defend 1 through 4, is huge for this team. Also, the Knicks roster had a lot of redundancy. Randle, JB, RJ, and IQ (to an extent) need the ball in their hands to impact the game. RJ does what Julius does, except not as well. Quickley does what Brunson does, except not as well. The roster construction is vastly improved now.

Minor quibble, OG can and often has guarded one through five at an elite level, sometimes in back to back games. In that narrow criterion alone he could significantly improve many teams, which partly explains why so many teams have been trying to acquire his services, and why the Raptors had up until this point declined all offers. The Knicks had more need of said services than some teams, far more than the Raptors,who are loaded with long versatile defenders. Pascal Siakam and Scottie Barnes can and have guarded one through five at an elite level, and can and have also played one through five. OG was a blessing much appreciated, and will be missed, but the Raptors needed help in other areas... and got it with this trade.

Americans are just discovering what Canadians have known for years. The repeated ignorance from so called analysts calling Raptors fans unrealistic for 'overvaluing' our players, and insults towards Ujiri for demanding too much in return for his players, just goes to show you how deep the anti-Foreign bias goes in the NBA. This trade is the best case scenario for both teams. Anunoby opens up the paint to allow your facilitators to work not just by spacing the floor, but by covering the otherside of the ball whenever misses or turnovers happen. Likewise, RJ and IQ add actual offensive facilitation to a team that has stagnated offensively every year since the Chip. I honestly think the Raptors have a chance to make the playoffs this year.

OG's addition is only one part of a 2 part story. Hartenstein, in Mitchell Robinson's injury absence, has been outstanding at the 5. His ability to pass extremely well from the high post and out, set textbook screens and picks, having good hands and timing when defending the rim ... damn. Having a .450+ 3PT shooter in the corner has boosted his worth as well on O, and the Knicks have something they mightn't have even seen without bad luck turning into good luck. We're on the way up, and a good rebounding PF in the second unit (not Dejounte Murray) is all we need to maintain the upward progress.

That's the only thing I miss about Tom Crean. He could find these talents that were overlooked and develop them. OG was a 3-star recruit, Oladipo was a 3-star recruit. Stats are tools, and just like tools, they are only as good as the person using them. Some people think building the best team is just a math equation. Almost like you want to add up all your player NBA 2k ratings and have the highest number. Chemistry and finding the right pieces goes beyond stats.

Win Win - the raptors got one less expiring to worry for - Maybe they have some pieces to build around Pascal... But I still feel that they didn´t get too much value in a rebuild perspective. If they keep up with this new rhythm and get into the playoffs, maybe they can convince pascal to stay. But still this is kinda risky. The Knicks got OG, the wing defender they desperately needed, without giving away any valuable draft capital. Quickley was a tough loss, but they have assets to get some juice for the bench. They are doing great, Julius is having an amazing stretch... I really hope to see them get a deep run this year!

OG is the real deal! The fact that most American Media thought the next got screwed over shows that most American Media does not care about the Raptors. They barely cared in 2019 when they beat the whole league and won the playoffs.... And OG was an important part of that 2019 team

Most surprising to me is that not only is OG an improvement over Quickley, but IQ's production at the guard position is being replaced by Grimes and Deuce McBride who look unlocked with a more defined role in the rotation. So the production of RJ and Quick is being spread around 3 players and the defense is much better

Casual fans have always underrated the Raptors trade assets. “He’s not worth what they are asking!” “Who does Toronto think they have? Kevin Durant?? Why are they asking for all that?? lol Raptors fans are delusional”. No we know exactly the types of players we have and their impact. I’m really happy for the Knicks because they gave us a fair deal and now they are reaping the benefits. OG’s stats are not to be taken at surface value. He is that guy who opposing players have nightmares about because he is really strong, plays the passing lanes well and plays off ball really well. Can spot up and shoot to open up the floor for a guy like Randle. RJ & IQ have helped us a lot because it added depth to our rotation, gave us more versatility on offence and made us more fluid and less one dimensional. Win-win. Knicks one trade/signing away from a chip imo. Raps got a young core to build on. Fk the Celtics and Philly.

Well....I'm not as upset as Stephan A. is. They got OG at a better deal than Toronto was asking last summer. He seems to be a catalyst for everything that is going right for the Knicks defensively AS WELL as offensively. As much as I liked RJ, OG spreads the court better because of his corner 3 efficiency. Deuce stepping up was a great surprise. I had my doubts but I'm a believer now!

I see in your report it's all about the Knicks, and I'm glad things are working out but the impact Barrett and Quickley are having with the Raptors is earth shaking as well. RJ 37pts just last night, great trade both teams are winning with their decisions to upgrade their team.

With OG it's a total defense leads to offense kind of deal. He's a solid 15PPG contributor but he gives you so much more. NYK better take care of him, he will surely be missed and I'm sure a lot of teams are pissed they didn't offer more.

This will go down in Knicks history as one of the most professional but beneficial trades for all parties involved. It was a win win and I'm hoping getting Dejounte Murray is next which I think takes the Knicks to the next level in contending for the Championship.
