I hope you enjoyed learned about the "Custom Shop" Les Paul Classic - I know I did! 🟢For Sale on My Website + Article : troglysguitarshow.com/1995-gibson-les-paul-custom-shop-les-paul-classic-history/ 🔴Reverb: tidd.ly/4aFiyhC 🐕 Private Help Sessions: troglysguitarshow.com/help-appraisals/
I just uploaded my first collection video of all of my guitars so far. You inspired me to start collecting 'special' guitars. And because you especially love Gibsons and I don't have that kind of money, I started collecting Epiphone's! Kind regards from The Netherlands! 🇳🇱🤘🏻
I agree so much that when Gibson does a reissue there should be some designation on its serial number and at least in a pickup cavity to show that it is a Reissue or as in this case a custom shop model. I don't know what you're planning to call your museum when it's up and running but seeing some of your information I suggest you call it Trogleyville.
Salutations Austin! Beautiful Gibson“Custom Shop” Les Paul Classic Quilt Top! Although it has an irregular quilt top, it is very distinctive and very active as well! It comes equipped with the classic’57 pickups and it sounds great! Thanks for sharing this with us all! Please have an excellent and awesome day! ☀️✨🎸
Wow.... I don't know what just happened, but RU-vid put the old "sunken paul" episode out as the new one, and this replaced it after a few minutes, lol. I think RU-vid farted or something.
Hey Trog, could you do a video on the chronology of gibson pickups in more detail. Explaining how burstbuckers became established and what choices there are today across models?
Wow, honestly out of every Gibson les paul I've heard, if I'm gonna break my bank account for one, It will be one similar to this, love the mid 90s les pauls. A friend of mine still has his, standard he bought back in 1992. But I'm Gonna hopefully find a classic. Really like this one. Hopefully I can find one of the mahogany top one's. Love the look of that
I have one of the 95s with a mahogany top, really nice guitars. They sound pretty compared to the usual ceramic pickups that you'd get from a regular Classic of the era.
You know I’m hooked watching your channel ……but it’s like taking your reefer addicted friend to a Grateful Dead concert but you forgot to bring the joints ……Painful! “Can’t Touch This”
you're really getting better - the clean tones you get are also nicely representative of the guitar - If you check other guitar players who come off more solid with their demos (Daryl Braun, Gregor Hilden) you'll see that they anchor their right hand for most playing - it's better for accuracy and tone - and it doesn't look as awkward as all that arm and wrist movement. You're definitely a better guitarist than your were a few years ago - it's just that right hand that needs a little training. Nice looking classic - I did notice that tilt in the bridge-posts.
Cool top , its s mix of chevrons & quiltage, the color is...is...is ' Ice Tea' ? I wonder why uncovered pickups make me blush...? Its like the guitar is a flasher or something ! OOF !! that sounds killer ! Thanks Trogly !!
Hi, i have a les Paul classic premium plus from 2000 which is a Amazing guitar, it's better than most of the New Murphy labs i've tried. I wasn't aware of the fact that they was a custom version of this guitar. My guitar share some similarities with the custom shop version : it has a Big dish carve, a very beautiful guilted top and the pickguard has never been installed. But the pickups were ceramics and it has no custom shop stamp on the back. Is it possible that Gibson run short of bodies for the usa line and took some from the custom shop ? (Sorry for my english, i'm a french Guy)
I've got a '94 version. Mine had the ceramic pups too (but I ended up switching them out ages ago) & the '1960' pick guard in the case. They are wonderful LP's.
@@jubei7259 i've also end up changing the pickups for Seymour Duncan Antiquities, with are fifteen years old now. It's sound huge, i usually play it through a orange and a supro dual tone, JPP sound 👍
@@paulgodin1166 I went through a phase of swapping out pups quite regularly but I eventually settled on a set of Seymour Duncan 'Whole Lotta Humbuckers' for that Jimmy Page tone. Curiously, I too play through an Orange amp. I've owned an old OR120 since the 90's but my missus banned me from playing that indoors after one too many complaints from the neighbours lol so I use a Tiny Terror nowadays for at home.
Did Trog ever do a review on the Gibson Les Paul Pro guitars? I have the pro III built around 2014 I believe. Not the robo tuners. Zebra pickups like this one he reviewed. Mine is a vintage burst, i believe. Striped maple with black around the edge and tea colored body. It has push push controls and decibel boost. The pots go from humbucker to single cool if you push each one. Or reverse coil. Those 2 features are essentially worthless and over kill… i also dont need to use a decibel booster. The DB needs a 9v battery… The guitar looks cook & has legit mojo sound though… very hot pickups. Versatile guitar..
I've got a '94 Classic. They really are fantastic LP's. I ended up putting Seymour Duncan - Jimmy Page 'Whole Lotta Humbuckers' in mine, coz I'm not a huge fan of ceramic pups.
I think I read somewhere that the R0 actually outsells the R9. Looking across all brands, most have settled on necks that measure around 0.85" at the first fret. Thicker than this classic and some shreddy guitars, but not '57-'59 Les Paul thick.
Trogly, any tips on keeping Gibsons in tune? I have a Les Paul and a Flying V - awesome expensive guitars but uncomfortable to play live due to poor strap button placement, neck dive, or heavy weight. Try gigging with a SG/Flying V//LesPaul and between sets going to a Fender Strat.and it's like going from night to day or hell to heaven!. Fenders are WAY more comfortable, stay in tune, feel like an extension of your body, etc. I love Gibson and want to love their guitars but they fight us every step of the way: Expensive, heavy, uncomfortable .....I bought a Schecter Custom Shop PT and its everything a Les Paul wish it was!
The Gibson 'tuning issue' legend is a load of bollocks. Just make sure your nut is cut properly & lubricated with graphite from a pencil or something. I've owned many Gibsons for over 30 years & gigged them for most of it. I've never had issues with tuning stability with any of mine.
@@jubei7259I only own 2 Gibsons, both SG’s. Special faded, 2005, needs tuned every day. 2023 modern, never needs tuned…. I agree, the constant stability complaints, as with the headstock just waiting to fall off after the smallest knock complaints, are grossly exaggerated. But, some might need tuning more often than others
@@kris955i2 it's like that with anything mass produced unfortunately. I'd take the special faded to a luthier if I were you & ask them to either replace the nut or make sure it's cut properly. Have a look at the bridge saddles too. Like I said, I've owned/played Gibson guitars for over 3 decades (still own 10 now) & I was a gigging musician for a lot of that, playing in a Punk band but I've never once had either tuning issues, nor a headstock break in all that time. Don't believe everything people say online.
@@jubei7259 for sure, I don’t think Gibson “issues” are anywhere near as bad as some people make it out to be. Depends on expectations too. Tuning once a day isn’t really “unstable” anyway. Faded is still an exceptional guitar
Gibson LP will always be # 1 in the History of guitars. Yes they bring in stars to sell the brand but I like all of the Gibson items from Explorers to Firebirds to the Flying Vs. They are a part of U.S. history made in the USA Love' em all.
*_FUNNY.....,_* I, (being a drummer... 😅 & perhaps smarter about "G.'s L.P.'s," than many drum brands... 😉😂) was going to mention something about that "Gibson logo" on the headstock!! It looked a bit *_"janky"_* to me, 🤔 ummmm, almost fake, however, you cleared that up straight away, and now I know better!!! Although, I have to ask then, *WHY,* does that "outlining," happen, or "what causes it," would probably be a better choice of wording!??! 😎🤘🏼
I am so glad I prefer SGs over LPs. Seems Gibson bends you LP guys over a barrel w/o lube for all these foo foo variations that are just painting the same pig. Maybe that's why SG is always the top selling Gibson, not so much filler, pure beef, u picks yer pups and bridge style then shaddup n play. Trailer queens, aka case queens need not apply, only actual players. 👀
I wish people would stop saying Slash brought the Les Paul back to popularity. This is a falsehood believed by people who won't take 5 minutes to do some research. All you need to do is watch 80's rock videos and you will see that a the Les Paul was used heavily during that period even before G&R was heard of.
Until Steve Vai / Joe Satriani hit the scene and then everyone was playing a Super Strat including all the bands playing “Hair Metal”. The Les Paul was no longer a cool guitar unless you were into Randy Rhodes or Jimmy Page. Slash definitely refreshed interest and then bands like Tesla , Black Crows, etc further solidified it. I lived through that time period in my teens so I experienced it first hand.
@mr.giggles4995 Good call. Out of preference, tho.....Slash was who got my there. But it was the likes of Joe Perry, Jimmy Page, and Gary Moore, who brought Slash the Les Paul.
