Head over to vessi.com/morgan and use code MORGAN for $25 off your pair of adult Vessi's! --- That was too much coffee. Way too much. 10/10 do not recommend. But it had to be done.
"I really really enjoy the hissing. I feel like as a barista I might need to adopt that into my hospitality." I'm here for the café where baristas aggressively hiss at you to announce your drink is ready.
As someone who plans to go to a bakery and pastry arts college I can tell you that red velvet cake was named as such due to the chemical reaction between the cocoa powder and buttermilk. This reaction creates a brown-pink kinda color. Nowadays we add a bunch of food dye to give it a true red color though. Chocolate cake has a higher amount of cocoa powder and is usually made with coffee to enhance the chocolate flavor. Thank you for reading!
Yeah its choclately but also has a sour fruity note from mixing it with buttermilk or if you don't have that most use vinegar with regular milk. Which almost gives the vibes of ruby chocolate which is made in a similar process to express more sour fruity flavors of the chocolate.
I loved this, but there's this evil part of my brain that wished Morgan took a tablespoon from each coffee and combined them into one horrible cup, but I'm pretty sure 40 different flavors of coffee hitting the tongue all at once is enough overstimulation to kill a person so maybe it's for the best
I keep trying flavored coffee and I never like them. And, not gonna lie, since discovering you and James Hoffmann's channels, my coffee game has upped and I now love my black or milky coffee. I found your channels right before finals week and now I'm headed into the new semester with a way better caffeine game, so I appreciate that
Btw-- i kinda understand you preferring milk or black over creamer, I don't like creamer sometimes but I do like flavored with a bit of milk if necessary. Most preferred coffee is flavored K-cups that don't need any milk or cream added. Also I like a splash of milk in my tea.
I love flavoured coffee, but only when it's just flavouring with no added sweeteners. A lot of flavoured coffees are either flavoured with sugar syrups (the stuff in cafes) or for some reason instant coffee that claims to be sugarfree but has a ton of sweetener in. I've found some nice flavoured coffees in the depths of TJ Maxx occasionally.
This is a cautionary tale of a weird coffee woman's slow descent into coffee madness, she tried to warn us but ended up committing the ultimate sacrifice
@@augustoof13 Bones Coffee does frequent sales throughout the year, sign up for their newsletter or follow their Insta. Love their coffee, but stock up when it's on sale.
Technically Cinnamon Toast Is a cereal flavor, Its my favorite EDIT: I realized the flavor was French Toast ... But still French Toast should have cinnamon In It I think
I'm sure I noticed Morgan talking faster and faster throughout this! Pre-flavoured coffees are always such a let down for me - they just never taste anything close to what they say they are... if they even taste of bloody anything! Anyway. I hope your heart rate has come down from out the thousands of BPM and you've stopped levitating! :D
The speech acceleration at the halfway point had my brain overworking without even realizing it. Felt like I haven’t slept enough for comprehension and had an urge to drink coffee, but realized it is 12am 😂
As someone who really enjoys flavored coffee and drinks it all the time, I personally have found that most [if not all] of them should NOT be enjoyed black. The best way is to add creamer; either a vanilla/plain flavored creamer, or something that will, in theory, compliment the flavor of the coffee. Green Mountain Wild Blueberry is one of my favorites, but it NEEDS creamer to be enjoyable, otherwise it's honestly very acidic and unpleasant to drink. That being said, there are definitely some flavors that just...do not translate well no matter what. (You can add granulated sugar to sweeten but it needs to have milk or cream or half&half or _something_ added or it is entirely too acrid and undrinkable.)
Raspberry Zinger is still sold actually! It's produced by Celestial Seasonings and can be found in the supermarkets (they have a lot of other Zinger flavors btw, my personal favorite is Sangria Zinger rn :) )
Welcome to the first episode of: Morgan Roasts Coffee Pods! 😂 "It's chemicals! 1!" *dramatic sound affect* "Vanilla spice... 1!' *dramatic sound affect* Coney Island Caramel was a surprise. Didn't think that would have a favorable flavor. The mystery pod was dramatic! But I had no idea there was such a thing as peanut butter... coffee. Peanut butter crunch was no surprise here. And the very first Last Place contestant is: Peppermint Stick. The Oh Fudge one makes me think of a particular scene from A Christmas Story. Random association, but easy to make. Funniest line: "I've kind of forgotten what normal coffee tastes like at this point." Morgan, you are awesome for putting yourself through this much meh coffees. Celebrate, and take a break. You deserve it!
I loved this, and I would LOVE to see the equivalent but with syrups! (like from the Monin collection maybe) I've made so many questionable choices in the coffee isle of supermarkets, getting charmed by flavored coffees such as maple, hazelnut, pumpkin, etc. Most of these were pretty decent, but since I love strong coffees and most of these usually are pretty light (I suppose to appeal to a broader clientele), I often end up feeling like making myself a good cup of strong real coffee instead, and the flavored ones just keep sitting in my cupboards. That's why I decided that from now I'll switch to syrups, so that I can add flavors to a better base coffee when I feel like it.
An absolutely fantastic video and thank you for it. I'm in love with the little french toast man. Also, honestly? I think you easily could have gotten two videos out of those 40 flavors and nobody would be mad about it. But when you DO inevitably do a sequel... you gotta pour them all into one giant tub and try the whole mix iced.
This is why I'm subscribed to you, I'm sure as heck not gonna put my through this torture. But I applaud and appreciate you being on this..."front line"?? of coffee tasting for us all. fantastic.
I noticed adding whole milk and sometimes some sugar helps you taste the flavor in the cup. So I only use them if I’m having a milky coffee day and will brew a different way for a good black coffee.
this video is so useful, i just bought a coffee maker that takes k cups or ground coffee and this weird pack of random flavours kept being suggested to me! now ill know if theyre worth trying or not :)
It would probably taste good with some cream & sugar added. I just use the type of pods that you put your own coffee into, & make them ahead of time & put them into the fridge. ( On the coffee can it says to put into the fridge. so I do. I think it keeps the coffee fresher. ) That way you can always have fresh coffee! I have had a Keurig ever since they first came out. I really like having a fresh cup of coffee every time .
This video came at a perfect time, I was just watching a rather emotionally heavy and personal RU-vid video just now, so something lighthearted and calming is very welcome! Much love and stay safe everyone
If you want to try good flavored coffee, you could get a quality coffee and try brewing it with freshly ground cardamom, hazelnuts, and such. It's traditional in certain places to flavor coffee like that, and is would probably be noticeably better than whatever dubious coffee with dubious natural and artificial flavors they're using here.
I have that box (or one similar from Amazon, even the mystery flavour) and they honestly taste so much better with cream and sugar. To really bring out any flavour you need to do that.
That's a good point; when I try flavored coffees such as maple or amaretto, I feel like I need to add a bit more sugar than I usually do, because these flavors are usually associated with something sweet, so in a straight coffee it just tastes kinda weird
I find nut flavoured coffees to be the best flavoured coffee options (hazelnut, hazelnut cinnamon, pecan toffee, etc). They don't always taste authentic but many taste good (at least to me)
My experience with Keurig coffee pods from different manufactures was like a contest from the manufactures to put the least amount of ground coffee into a pod while maintaining a hint of coffee taste. I never could find a decent dark roast experience that felt "bold" or a Sumatra or anything with a dominant taste. The pods just tasted watered down. My son bought me a Keurig for his place as he and his partner don't drink coffee. I told him to sell it and I bought a Mocha pot for his place instead, a wonderful experience.
I don't use the ready made K-cups, I use the ones you put your own coffee into the pod. It is very good! Too bad you weren't able to try it that way, Those ready made pods are way too expensive for my budget, but like I said, the pods that you put your own favorite coffee into them are really good! Much better than having to make a whole pot of coffee in a coffee maker & by the time you get to your second cup, it's no longer fresh anymore. I really like having a fresh cup every time.
@@latachia_2981 Try out a 10 cup stainless steel moka pot. The cup measurement on moka pots is not what you and I are used to, much smaller cups. The coffee is stronger, the closest thing to espresso without it being espresso. The water goes through a 1 1/2 bars of pressure versus 9 bars on an espresso machine (which I also own). Something like 98 % of all homes in Italy have a moka pot. I'm willing to bet you will like it.
I'm always on board for videos of people tasting horrific abominations. In that vein, I've recently learned about "roasty buds"; a coffee with various levels of spice, which....could be fun
This was interesting. I am not a huge fan of flavored coffee, but I have one shop I visit that sells a Snickerdoodle flavored coffee whole bean and I love that, especially around the holidays. There is another that sells Banana Foster - I know it sounds awful, but it really does taste like warm banana bread, it is comforting in a way.
I assume this is from 2 rivers? I saw this and might try some of these. For anyone out there, they also have things like this for hot cocoa, tea, cider, cappuccinos specifically, and decaf coffee. You can usually buy a 40 pack, 72 pack, or a holiday 12 pack. All of their options work with a keurig
I wonder how much difference it would make to try these with some sugar and milk/creamer. Because truth to be told, I don't think these flavored capsules are really targeting customers who like their coffee straight lol.
I just started my journey as a barista in Poland - I'm not employed yet, but took lessons from great teachers. I really enjoy watching your videos because they help me with my problem in this job - I stress too much and have not enough fun.
I definitely agree with you that mint needs something to temper it in everything, especially coffee. My local private coffee shop has a white chocolate mint latte that I love. They call it the twisted diva.
I’m so amused by the very aggressive sound effect that plays when your rating pops up on the screen. Also, “I need to run around or take a nap.” I feel that…deeply. This video is very funny.
I started with Keurigs really early and even owned stock. I learned quickly to stick with simple flavors and mostly with single origins or solid blends. The issue with Keurig is they don't have all that much volume in the container for coffee, and its even worse when they have to add flavors and especially sweeteners. Basically you get sucralose because its so compact. And I can't stand the flavor of Sucralose. The other issue with the platform is that the coffee HAS to be allowed to stale after brewing. (otherwise the outgassing will burst the containers) I shifted to Superautos and programmed mine for long shots to be really close to coffee. Recently changed to one made specifically for coffee, and have not looked back. After going back to fresh roasted coffee I could not go back. (yes, I have weighed my pucks and compared them to what is in a K-cup -- its basically double) I made decent money on the stock when it was bought out, too. K-cups can be decent, but the flavors are where they are pretty poor.
I have a little drip coffee maker. One of my favorite things to do is to add a blueberry tea bag (or whatever flavor I’m feeling) to the basket along with the coffee. Yum! In the fall and winter, I highly recommend using Harley & Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice tea, or their Pumpkin Spice tea with your coffee for brewing. Ugh. Delicious.
You saying you like the machine hissing and that you may adopt that into your coffee making reminded me of a post i saw that said something like "why do coffee makers growl at you" "they're called baristas and they're working very hard"
Definitely agree. Some of those coffee pods have this huge fragrance but yet yield very little to the pallet. Glasses are a good look for you Morgan. Glad you made it through this video. Looked challenging as ever.
Speaking of a Refractometer... When I was in the Navy, I worked on fighter jets. I used a time domain refractometer. Had no Idea it could be used with coffee. 😀😀😀
Thanks for the tasting. Your analysis/opinion of artificially flavored coffee(s) is about the same as mine: Yeck! Especially chocolate flavored ones. I'll just keep brewing a cuppa and adding my own dark chocolate sauce, thank you. And, yes, for about the last third to quarter of your video I slowed You Tube's playback speed to 0.9!
Celestial Seasonings still makes Raspberry Zinger. gotta say, and this is as a usually tea person (yeah I don't know why I'm here either, but I find your enthusiasm for coffee really fun), it is pretty good
I'm currently doing a research project on how much caffeine is too much for the human body, and the effect on the brain. I think this goes just a LITTLE over the recommended amount per day lol.
Ramona V. Flowers : We have blueberry, raspberry, ginseng, sleepy time, green tea, green tea with lemon, green tea with lemon and honey, liver disaster, ginger with honey, ginger without honey, vanilla almond, white truffel, blueberry chamomile, vanilla walnut, constant comment and... earl grey. Scott Pilgrim : Did you make some of those up?
I worked in a coffee shop and used a la marzoco machine with 3 group heads… so I know and have used a good machine. But… I do have a keurig… it’s just so easy and quick. No grinding, no bread basket. Just put the thing in a press the button. And sometimes that’s nice. Granted I end up putting creamer in it and the French press is vastly better coffee… but sometimes I just want mediocre coffee quick. Lol
I have to side with "choconut" because chocolate is awesome and I am mentally unstable. And I side with Morgan on the fact that coconut does not belong in coffee EVER. #procoffeesnob #bringondabeans
Hmm, one comment: I would imagine those tend to be intended to be sweetened. Sugar acts very much like salt in that before it's concentrated enough to taste sugary (or salty in the case of salt), it helps bring forward other flavors. I suspect the flavors would be much more present vs. the "just on the nose" phenomenon you described, if you added maybe a single sugar cube.
I would just like to see you review regular coffee pods because every other coffee channel seems to just turn their noses up and sneer at Keuriq machines. I've never had a great cup out of one, but for some reason it amuses me to brew with one and watch it make it's weird noises.
Having ADHD is fun with coffee because one or two cups of drip or a couple double shots of espresso and you are calmed, chill, and ready for the day or even sleep…then when you become over-caffeinated you hit a weird manic phase followed by shaking and jittering while also having ADHD paralysis while your brain is moving at light speed and on the verge of panic. 😂
Raspberry Zinger is from Celestial Seasonings and freely available at most grocery retailers. It's called ZInger because it has hibiscus in it, I think? Tasty, nonetheless.
