Though their marriage is not legally recognized, it doesn't make it any less real to the people involved. A friend of mine got "married" six years ago just like Tana and Jake without a marriage certificate. The only thing that makes you married in the eyes of the law is signing the marriage certificate. A piece of freaking paper! They don't need a piece of paper telling them whether they're committed to someone. They just are. You are married in your own eyes, spiritually, and that is good enough. A Commitment Ceremony is very real to those taking part, regardless of your opinion that it's not real. It is to them. Legality is irrelevant when it comes to love.
