Hei hei! Thanks for watching! I've also posted an article about this journey on my website: www.norwaywithpal.com/norway-travel-blog/driving-from-oslo-to-bergen Thank you, tusen takk! Pål
Hei Pal! 👋 I have just recently discovered your channel. Wonderful content and well done! My wife traveled in Norway many years ago. We hope to visit some day as I have never been there. Tusen takk😃
Hi Pal, really enjoyed your journey. I'm 73 now and back in summer 1972, I traveled solo in Norway, having taken an overnight ferry from Newcastle, England to Bergen. Met some Norwegian lads on the ferry and we drank beer 'til the wee hours of the night. They wouldn't let me buy a beer, treated me all evening long. We were all in our early 20s. Once I arrived in Bergen, I was walking around the harbor and found a commercial boat that had a few staterooms for passengers and booked a trip into the Sognefjord. Wow, what an amazing experience that was! Such scenic beauty. The boat was loaded with goods for farmers in communities along the fjord that were only accessible by water, and I recall a couple of draft horses and a large farm tractor that were unloaded at a couple of stops by a crane on the back of the boat. We went all the way to Flam, then rode the Flam Train line up to the main Bergen train line. Amazing scenery! Got to the main train station in Oslo, then caught a train up north to Andalsnes, then caught a bus and ended up in a hostel in some community whose name I've long forgotten. I just wanted to get lost in Norway and see the countryside and experience the people there. It was a memory for a lifetime that I cherish to this day. You have one of the most beautiful and friendliest countries on planet Earth. Cheers from Lafayette, Louisiana, US.
Hei Frank! Thanks for sharing your Norwegian travel memories! Very cool. You certainly had some unique and memorable moments over here. Thanks for watching my video:) Pål
This… this is what is important. And it shouldn’t be just once in a lifetime. I am working hard to reconcile my realization that it is not required that I just bust my ass working until I’m too old to enjoy life.
I've been in Norway 4 times exploring and hiking in Bergen and Stavanger. My favourite place I always want to come back is Lysefjord and Flørli. The way from Oslo to Bergen by train is also worth to try!🇳🇴💕
Sooo beautiful! The amount of work going into setting the camera, driving off into the distance, only to go back to pick up the camera. Again, and again... Superb drone shots too! This summer we're going hiking by car in these very areas! 👍
This is awesome. Every journey in Norway is just breathtaking. Last year I drove from Egersund to Flatdal in the summer and it was really hard to drive because every single scene outside the car was completely magical. I took the straightest route possible and it took me across the mountains. The downside of traveling in Norway is that going anywhere takes a long time because there is no highway system in the entire country. But the upside is that while you drive you will basically be treated to an unending line of wallpaper type scenery anywhere you go.
Did the Bergen-Oslo trip but on the train. View was awesome. We also passed-by the Hardanger suspension bridge when we drove from Stavanger to Geiranger last month. It really is a work of architecture marvel.
Once again you set the bar so high I'm almost a little jealous 👏🏻🇳🇴 your storytelling skills is so damn good, and once again you show how you can tell a amazing story with carefully selected clips and good VoiceOver. I really like the way you manage to keep the sound quality with the voiceover and talking to camera so close. 🎥 And the way you go from one place to another with the map and great b-roll... well, from a videographer point of view, there is so much to like in this video. I had to see it twice, one just to enjoy and the other time just to take notes of the best part and look how you did it 🤣 Glad to see I could return some of the favour, and you made great use of the footage. really enjoyed this episode. And the Kistefos Museum is high on my bucket list. I would love to go down there in winter time to catch some great lights and showcase some of the beauty down there. Bravo mate, bravo 👏🏻
Thanks a lot Thomas! And thanks again for the amazing drone footage 😍 I was very impressed with the Kistefos museum. I think they close down in mid-October, but I guess the outdoor area will still be accessible. And yes, with some falling snow and great light on The Twist and the river one could get some magical shots. Let me know if you go there and I might meet up with you
@@norwaywithpal Yeah, I think there can be alot of cool things to work with when Norway transform into winter wonderland 👏🏻 I will let you know 🔥Keep up the great work
Mange takk Pål! Vennine mine og jeg skal besøke Norge neste uke fra Kanada. Vi planlegger å kjører mellom Olso og Bergen. Vi er veldig glade at vi har funnet kanalen din! Love the local perspective and tips!
Breathtaking scenery. So clean. The food looks wonderfully fresh and delicious. The highway is so clean. No trash. No graffiti. Norway is a travelers dream. Not sure I could love it in the frozen winter, though.
Thank you! As we say “there’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing” ;) Just dress up in warm clothes and you can enjoy winter here as well !
Amazing video, thank you for sharing , it is very helpful, I also took train from Oslo to Bergen last year, I would say one of the most stunning train ride in the world
I reside in Honolulu Hawaii Thank you for sharing your trip with us Captivating the beauty and rich heritage Draws my thoughts into those time periods Thank you again
I have driven in Norway and I can say it is definitely one of the greatest sceneries I have seen with great infrastructure as well Thanks for sharing Subscribed 👍
Hei Vaaluin, exciting that you are moving to Norway! Bergen is such a great city. I've been to Seattle many times btw :) Thanks for watching the episode
Hi! I have done that journey in the mid 1970s before the bridges were built and used the ferry. Was travelling by car from Gothenburg, Sweden to Bergen. I can remember driving along and stopping at the "stavkyrkan" it's beautiful. We met a flock of sheep walking along the road close to that church. I remember the steep and winding road down not far from that huge waterfall... the height terrified me. We drove over the Hardangarvidda over night but is was around midsummer so wasn't really dark. That journey has stayed with me during all these years and is something I'll never forget . Thanks for the memories.
Hi Maureen, nice to hear that you have such fond memories of this journey! The road down from the waterfall was even steeper back then when you went there :o Thanks for your comment, and thanks for watching the episode
I drove this route many times with my truck and every time its still a plesure to drive this route. I could't think of a better job if i have routes like this.
Thanks for this... I plan to travel through Norway for 5 weeks this summer and your vid helped me drop more markers on the map for places to visit. Only 2 more weeks before we start... I'm so excited :)
Norwegians are the luckiest people in the whole world because they are born in Norway 😍 my biggest dream is to move to Norway and live there for the rest of my life 🥰😍
It looks like a lot of us are just finding this video now. RU-vid must be using the algorithm to suggest it to us! A beautiful and pleasant video! My wife’s parents (deceased) were from Norway and she was just there. Though she spent more time in Nordland this last time, she has done the Norway In a Nutshell trip from Bergen to Oslo and she loved it. So beautiful! And the food looks very delicious and it is making me hungry! My favorite thing I’ve eaten in Norway is the skolebrød from WB Sampson. It was so good, I had to have one from every WB Samson we saw! Do you plan anymore trips like this again? I’m now subscribed and hope you do. Ha Det! 🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴
Yes it looks like it... I'm glad RU-vid is sharing it to those who might be interested. I LOVE skolebrød as well. WB Samson got some pretty yummy ones I plan to make more videos from Norway, and also more road trips so stay tuned :D
Thanks for the nice video. I did the trip myself nearly 35 years ago with the train. The whole of Norway is for me just like one big beautiful symphony between mountains and sea. Greetings from Switzerland.
I was in the early 1980 in hogenwick ? Working 6 weeks with disabled people. Someone had to drive to Oslo and took me along. That might have been the same way that you drove. But the mountains where all covered with moss it looked like. This landscape I have never seen anywhere and not even on TV since. Best trip of my life. Amazing that you swam in the water. I jumped in there and straight out it was sooo cold. We also encountered goats that went to the farm to get molken. The guy told me in Norge the Farms are fenced in and the animals roam free. Don’t know if this is still the case. Now I live on the other side of the world, but I like to experience Norge again.
Thanks Pål. I've been to Iceland 5 times now and my family wants something different next year. Southern Europe is off limits due to heat in summer so this is a welcome video to showcase a nice roadtrip of what SOuthern Norway has to offer. Greetings from the Netherlands, Bart
Great video and content Pal. Many thanks for sharing, much appreciated. We were in Oslo and Bergen back in 2015 and loved it there. We went on a Hurtigruten trip. Hopefully we will come back at some point.
Hi Pal, Thanks a lot for your video. It is very clear and helps understand how to start planning such a trip to Norway. The map with the small yellow van adds to the clarity and understanding of the area that should be covered by the traveller.
Thanks very much for the video. I am now in Holland heading to Denmark tomorrow and I will make this trip from Bergen to Oslo in 10 days. So it was great to see it beforehand.
My father's family is from Trondheim and my mother's family from Stavanger... but as close as I've gotten to Norway a visit to Copenhagen around New Years. I was not about to head farther north.... I've been listening to the fabulous Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra on RU-vid and Google's algorithm dropped this video in my queue and I love it... a wonderful view of a beautiful country that feels like it belongs in my bones. Thank you for this. I think I need to check your other videos...
Hei Curtin, tusen takk, thanks a lot for checking out my videos. I hope you'll make it to Trondheim, Stavanger, Bergen some day. They are all wonderful places :)
I've been a trucker all over Europe. I am Romanian, i remember years ago i got to do deliveries from Dk to Norway mostly Oslo area but i had a few going up north. Norway is by far the most beautiful country I've ever seen. I was working but driving my truck there was like being on a vacation. I need to finish building my house and after that I'll save money for a campervan and the first jurney will be from Romania to northern Norway.
Hei Domitry! Glad to hear you have such fond memories of Norway. Good luck on building your house, and I hope you'll get to travel here with a campevan at some point
I took a train ride from Oslo to Bergen using the eur ail pass fifty years ago. It was a beautiful ride, still remember the mountains and waterfalls. Enjoyed this video immensely
Flott film, men noen faktafeil. !
Thank you so much for these amazing videos! I am hungarian and I was lucky enough to spend a semester in University of Bergen in 2021. It was the best experience of my life, wonderful place, wonderful people, I barely had money for food and accomodation but I hiked a lot in the Bergen area and I got to spend 1 week in Christmas with my norwegian friend's family in Molde! Cant wait to go back!!
My husband and I really enjoyed this! So nice to see familiar names on the map, that we visited or passed through. 🙂 Great to see TShansen had a part in the production. 🤗 🚵 My husband said he could quite happily watch a series of 45-minute videos of yours, Pål. 👍
Hi there thanks for watching! Glad that you enjoyed the episode. I think I would need a production team to do 45 minute episodes..hehe.. Very grateful for the drone footage from TShansen, it sure looks beautiful.
Thanks for the informational video. I have never been to Norway, but plan a trip this summer to visit my wife's family. I will definitely continue learning from your videos.
Hi Pal, thanks for the video. Last summer we went to Norway for the first time.. We loved it!! We are already planning on coming next year again. Greetings from Holland
Thank you for your helpful video! I am planning a road trip in less than a month from Oslo to Bergen. I can't wait for the experience. It looks amazing.
I worked at the U.S. Embassy in Oslo for 3 years. In 1983 had to drive from Oslo to Bergen round trip in early March. Snow covered and hard to drive, especially with a rear wheel drive American car (stationwagon). Would not recommend doing this again. Probably very beautiful in the summer.
Thanks, awesome video, brought back many memories, visited this beautiful country almost 35 years ago,Bergen was the first City I visited with my Norwegian father ,Mr Jansen ( I’m Mexican, long story)
very nice video and tips. i am thinking of doing the same trip from sweden using a minivan, but go all the way to lofoten. info about wild camping was very good. its good that you can do wild camping in Sweden and Norway but unfortunately not in Denmark as far as i understood.
Hei Alexander, thanks for watching the video! Going up to Lofoten will be an amazing trip for sure. You are right, Denmark is a bit more restricted. Its because the landscape is a bit different, and there is not so much "wild" nature. Plenty of good camping spots in Denmark though
I really like your video, showing the road map and the detailed trip. This is the kind of video I like to see. If I plan a 14 days self driving in Norway, which is the best round trip starting from Oslo. Maybe a 200km per day which includes meal time & sight seeing.
Hi Philip thanks for checking out my video! From Oslo I’d drive E6 over the Signe mountain to Bergen. Then you can drive north to the Geiranger fjord , take a ferry to Gudvangen and drive north to Trollstigen. From there you could go north to Molde, the Atlantic Ocean road, and go to Trondheim. Then drive south over the Dovre National park, and go to Røros or just drive south on road number 3 and drive over the Venabu mountain and back to Oslo. Just a suggestion, there are many routes that are nice to take. 200 km would be max of what I would drive. Most roads in Norway are slow and windy. So to have time to many stops/sightseeing etc it’s better to try at not drive too far every day . Have a nice drive!
Thank you Pal for this beautiful and fantastic video upload for us. I really enjoyed to see it and i am sure i will follow the tips you have given in this video.
