Indeed. I really hope Aston Martin can continue this awesome streak over the coming year. Alonso getting the podium after so many years is just inspirational. And carwow, what a review!!! I hope they can get their hands on it again to do a 0-60mph launch time later on.
Everyone must have forgot Seb got a podium (should be 2 podiums) at his time with Aston Martin. Pretty sure the AMR23 wouldn't be as great if it wasn't for him.

23:00 The car software obviously should implement a feature that prevents the battery from going totally empty because of pressing ERS button. I would totally expect the future buyers to do the same thing even if the risk of emptying battery was mentioned in the manual somewhere.
@@Keatoil I write software for living (not car software, though) and I know perfectly well that most issues like this are caused by slight errors in the *requirements* for the software before the software is actually written. Hindsight is always 20/20. That said, I strongly believe that this is just a bug in the software of this car.
honestly the best media coverage of the Valkyrie. Loads of easy to understand technical talk about the car. Loads of really great views of the car, with arguably the best views from the suspension, and the active aero under the car. Super video from you Matt and the rest of CarWow!
@@twothbeave Yeah I spotted that too. Can’t even imagine what that feels like. Must be incredibly odd. I’ve only ever driven Hiluxes at work (mine site) and then just you average cars since I never got around to buying one. I bought my first car, which is a little sportier than just a normal sedan. The feeling of 0-100 even in snow is insane. I’ve never felt Gs like that in a car before. Can’t wait until summer comes by.
In my opinion this is one of the best looking hypercars out right now if not the best looking also really enjoyed all the extra information about the car especially about all the downforce
Aston Martin seriously topped themselves & came in the top 3 imo. The name itself "Valkyrie" is so symbolic & legendary. Totally enjoyed the explanation of how the aerodynamic vs the look took place. Overall, a very brilliant video for a one in lifetime car, thank you Mat

TOP GEAR released a video of the same car, at the same time yesterday. Carwow has double the views. Im proud of this channel for becoming a staple in car culture. Mat you're up there with Clarkson, Hammond and Cpt Slow.

@@LRM12o8 Top Gear would actually be relevant if they hadn't sacked Clarkson. Too bad they didn't realize this and now they're less popular than most independent RU-vid journalists with 100x lower budgets and crew.
TOP Gear was a very relevant to me and how I feel about cars. I was a fan of the show for a while. But, the more I watched... the more I began to hate Jeremy and Hammond for their ignorant views about pretty much everything and anything. That only got worse the longer I watched Top Gear and the older I got. Then to read some of Jeremys' articles about politics made me realize how of a much a boot-licking, secret-agent-Tory, Jeremy really is.
Matt has a way of socializing with people, and even with a little bit of knowledge about aero does help carry the flow of the conversations. It's a lot more enjoyable to watch than to what Hagerty did, for example.

Yes. Lucky. He just sat at home in his basement, writing stupid comments on RU-vid and suddenly, this job just appeared in front of Mat and asked to be done by him. Pure luck indeed. Genius.
Fabulous car, brilliant interaction with one-half of the design team and the engineering lead, then one of the most entertaining test drives I've seen. Above all else, I feel so proud of Aston Martin brand. What the AM team have achieved and are achieving is just monumental!
We don't know how lucky we are to have Mat as a presenter, was smiling and laughing the whole time, hard to do that consistently. Great video and the car is a feat of engineering as it makes fast look slow, that's when you know you have something special. :)

@@alexgoss6366 It is quite literally said in the vid that Adrian was the lead aero in the development and Valkyrie wasn't made this year, it was launched in 2021 and was probably designed way back.
@@DPW864 yes and no, he was quoted after driving it at Goodwood something along the lines of this car has a lot of problems. The project needed rb to deliver this car not Aston but as they fell out when daddy stroll set up the F1 team to keep his son in a drive it's not the car newey designed
@@alexgoss6366 it's a shame we won't see him in content like this promoting/talking about the concept, but his contribution and genius is at the very core of the car, I think that's more important in the bigger picture. At least the whole project didn't die just because the relationship ended.
@@alexgoss6366 he did the most crucial thing in early days of partnership with Aston, which was the foundation. Aston hired some of the RB engineers even
Mat is really good at this job. He has amassed a lot of knowledge over the years. You can tell from the questions he asks and also the way he comprehends the answers.

I have never laughed so hard at a RU-vid video as I did just now, watching Mat riding along in the AMR. I literally couldn't breathe - there must be some automotive journalist award waiting for Mat after this one! I still have tears in my eyes!!!!
The engine is a work of art! I applaud Aston for creating this because there was a lot that went into this masterpiece. They probably won't make much money on this project.

What an absolutely incredible car, the whole video left me speechless. Thank you for sharing this experience with us Matt. Love your content by the way. Have a great day!
You can really tell that the people who worked on this car have a passion and love for it. So much less akwardness compared to the VW or Mercedes representatives. Love these guys!

I got goosebumps just watching this - I simply cannot fathom what the actual experience was like. Thanks Mat and team for reviewing this magnificent vehicle/work of art!
Thought to myself, self, do I really want to watch another video on this car? Not really, but was hooked immediately with Matt’s presentation and humor! Best Valkyrie coverage on the net.

i hope current valkyrie owners can get upgraded aero packages over the life of the car (if there are better materials or designs that perform better with development along with their formula 1 r&d)
I’ve seen and heard the road going car and it’s absolutely insane in person. The only car which came anywhere close to it for me personally is seeing a Zonda Cinque in person. Imagine owning this beauty and taking it out for a drive every Sunday along some twisty roads; one can only dream.
That fact about the titanium is mind boggling! That's insane, this was a really cool video. Hope we get to see more informational videos like this one!
Loved to hear about the lengths they went to save weight on the stop light and rear number plate light...it gives you some idea of just how much detail they look into everything to get maximum performance while keeping it legal for the road..great design excucuted beautifully. Top marks Aston Martin. 😎🙌

Aston Martin: We made the badge 14 microns thick to avoid there being any bad airflow on the car Mat: Lemme just stick these gopros in the worst positions possible
It’s literally a piece of art that you can drive to the Nordschleife while using the sat-nav and listening to your favourite song. Then get your driving partner to hold your coffee and donut while you lap the track quicker than GT3 cars.
Fun fact: The "bomber" referred to at around 18:24 is not actually a bomber. As a matter of fact, it never even had been equipped with armament whatsoever. The Lockheed SR-71 - codenamed "Blackbird" - was a derivative of the Lockheed A-12 program of the CIA in the early 60s. Just like it's precursor the Blackbird was built as a strategic reconaissance aircraft (hence the "SR" in it's name). The Blackbird could reach such high speeds (Vmax of around Mach 3.3) and altitudes that most radar systems back in the days simply couldn't acquire it as a target. And if the rare case occured that it got targeted by a SAM, the standard evasive maneuver was to simply accelerate and outpace the threat. Despite it's definitive withdrawal from service in the late 90s, the Blackbird remains to this day the fastest military aircraft ever put into operational use.
Great video Mat. This is the first Valkyrie video I've seen and I waited and made sure to watch for a reason! You didn't disappoint. What an amazing car! Cheers.
Great video. Love most content Carwow put out, but these deep dives into a single specific car are always a joy to watch. Especially with the hands on tour from those involved in the development. Can we all just appreciate though the glorious sound coming from those NA V12 engines? You will never get a better noise from anything with a turbo.
The most amazing ball busting, sphincter stretching, insane piece of auto engineering ever! Nothing else comes close to this genuine road F1 car. Great video with really genuine excitment that comes across in spades.
And in the AMR pro I noticed the rear view mirror (camera) basically works 5% of the time.. ( if you look at the reflection of the internal go pro in back of shots like the one at 28:30)
Love the Valkyrie. Wild, strong yet elegant. Too beautiful it has become one of my dream cars now. Matt is the all round best presenter indeed. He made it extra fun to watch.

Really enjoyed the video. What an amazing piece of machinery! One thing I will mention though is that you comment about the amount of titanium used in the Valkyrie being something comparable to the “SR-70 bomber” (relatively speaking ,of course). The plane you’re referencing is actually not a bomber, but an extreme high altitude Mach 3 reconnaissance aircraft known as the SR-71 Blackbird which has a structure that is 85% titanium. Fyi. Keep up the great videos! 👍
@@furtivedig The reference was more so on the bulk order of titanium for all the cars they are going to make, rather than using that amount in a single car.
My favorite thing about Matt vs. Other car journalists is that he is not afraid to call it how he sees it. If he messes up he'll say it. But he will also call em out on the corporate speak lol. And he doesn't take himself seriously.
Shades of the early days of Top Gear in the vibe of this video. Loved the chats with the designers, engineers and drivers. Hugely entertaining. Well done.
What a beautiful car. The engineering that goes in to these vehicles is so impressive. My daughter is learning how to do this. Second year in engineering. I hope she will be engaged in such a wonderful program as this.

It cuts both ways. It's a shame that many will not be driven and also a shame that even if driven, can't be utilized anywhere near it's potential on a public road. Honestly, it's too much car for public use anyway.

The final bit on slicks reminded me of getting used to my 125 Rotax kart back in the ‘90s. Karting had moved on from skinny hard slicks to full on wide sticky Bridgestones and the G forces through corners were bruising on hips, torso and neck.
