thats how your supposed to drive them they are bullet proof.. Im rebuilding mines now putting a lot of custom things on it.. and also will be doing a M62 B44 block swap with the M60 Heads and all up top and maybe turbo it as well with a new clutch and flywheel.. But even with all the work it needs after sitting for 7 years whiles ive been in university it still drives to 100mph like a champion.. the car is legendary. and people constantly ask me if its for sale i tell them to get lost..

I bought a E34 M5 3.6 because it’s the last production Bmw handbuilt in the Bmw Motorsport Factory in Garching by 2 M Sport engineers over 2 weeks ... that kinda thing makes each and every Garching Motorsport BMW.... ‘Spezial’

It’s all about that engine, period! This is a lovely car. I have a last year production 3.8 that’s not been used and toying with selling but had it over 12 years can’t get myself to put in AD for sale. Love the car too much!

I had one of these (red ‘91); and the submount pulled out of the frame! It was a sad day. I took it to a welder who did their best to fix. After that, the vehicle somehow had wobble wheel. The most gorgeous car; I’m still in love but definitely took a big financial hit buying it for $10k; having to fix it for $3K, and then selling it for $6K all in a course of one year. My 2002 M5 also gave me a lot of problems but damn; I’m addicted to M cars.

Very nice M5. I have an E34 544/6 myself, and I love it to death. It's in really crappy condition compared to the M5, but I still enjoy it every time I drive it. I have the same staggered throwing star wheels on my car, and may I suggest to the owner, he should polish the outer rims of the wheels. It'll really make the wheel pop and look really nice.

I had the chance to buy a white E34 M5 from Sydney Australia. I think it was the 3.8 motor and blue leather interior. I regret not making the effort of going from New Zealand over to Australia to look at the car. That was four years ago and the prices are nuts IF you can find one.

Prices have gone up, but they're not quite nuts. Not yet. I work in classic car investment, and I bought one about three years ago. They're yet to have their day.

@@matthewbell1968 Related to Graeme? E34 will go up before the E92 goes up. Older, rarer, last of the hand-built models, coming into their own Radwood era. E92 still has some depreciation to go before it bounces.

Last m5 to feature race inspired engine? Whattttt. WRONGGGG. That's a big disrespect to the e60 m5 which features the ONLY f1 inspired racing engine of ANY m5. Please get your facts correct

Please let's have a conversation without that condescending tone, shall we? You said it yourself, the V10 from the fabulous E60 M5 is inspired by the F1 engine. But the one in the E34 M5 is based on a racing engine. The one in the E60 unfortunately doesn't really have a lot in common with the F1 engine except that they both had 10 cylinders. The F1 engine was a 3l, while the M5's was a 5l. Even BMW themselves said that the S85 engine "benefits from the knowledge gained from F1 racing development."

@@TunedIntoCars I would say it has a lot more in common with an f1 engine than you have realized. the 5L v10 uses a quasi-dry sump lubrication system just like they do in f1. It also has individual throttle bodies for every cylinder...just like they do in f1. BMW f1 engines were also previously v10s then later v8s. I cant think of any other bmw engine to have these f1 specific features aside from the s65 in the v8 m3 which is an s85 clone.

@@TunedIntoCars and let's not forget it sounds like an f1 engine and has the highest redline of any bmw engine made. Lastly, f1 cars have compression ratios around 14:0 and the e60 m5 is at 12:0, pretty darn close for a 4 door street legal saloon. Nevertheless I respect all m5s but please, dont say it doesnt have much in common with with a racing engine. Individual throttle bodies is enough to consider it one and it has a ton more similar features than that...without even mentioning the sequential manual gearbox it is mated to...which is also found in f1 cars.

Did you read what I said? The quote from BMW: the S85 benefits from the knowledge gained from F1 racing. Of course they brought in a lot of the technology from F1 to the street. Every manufacturer does that, but that doesn't mean this is a racing engine. Mercedes has brought in a lot of hybrid tech from F1 to their road car engines. Does that make them race engines? No. Does that mean those engine use F1 racing development. Yes, pretty much

The S38 is directly a further development of the M1 race car’s engine. And the 3.8L is the pinnacle design
