I honestly cannot choose a favorite. When you finished the wall light with the bamboo bowl, I absolutely loved it. That spot on your stairway is a perfect spot for it to live. But then, the hanging light came into play and it took my breath away. It looks stunning above your kitchen table and I'll bet casts a cool shadow when lit. Lunar Louie is quit the spokesperson ... love his accent!
Agree. In the intro I thought “not another Sputnik light!” And put off watching the video. But it’s not and Danie did a fantastic job of creating a light I actually like.
I got a good laugh in @ 19:36 😂😂😂🤣 For some reason the abrupt edit to reality after the time lapse to William Tell’s Overture was hilarious. Gotta dry my happy tears & resume the video.
Loved both lights!!! Can't wait to see the "bowl" light hanging in your staircase area! The umbrella light looked amazing in your dinning area!!! Always a blast diying with you 😁
Your creative energy, determination and the quality for your DIYs always amaze me. Such an inspiration and I love your puns 😅 both projects are lovely, but the second light was my favorite 🤩
Love this!!!! You can shape the wood of this gorgeous 2dn light bending down a bit more by using water on it and securing it in shape until it's fully dry!!! ❤️😍 You're so talented and inspiring, love love love
These light fixtures are so you Danie. Quirky and functional. I'm more reserved in my decor and style but you encourage me to go outside my comfort zone. Love your videos.
Freaking love your vibe Dani! And your puns, they’re my fav 😂 Love how everyone is saying good morning.. It’s 9:35pm Saturday night here in Aus. So I say Good evening 🥱
If you cut 2 or 3 rings out of plywood, with the inner circle to fit the light fixture, glued them together in a tower, and then drilled your holes all around in the pattern you wanted, then used wood glue to glue the rods in, maybe it would have been more wavy?
Love it! To save money on wooden dowels, you can use jumbo bamboo skewers. They are surprisingly sturdy... sometimes you can find them near the s'mores stuff at the grocery store
Wonderful and funky light Danie.!!! I love both of them, but honestly would make the first one because it is so much easier. I agree, Saturdays are not Saturdays without your energy and wonderful humor. I love it!!!! Thanks.
Wow! It took me till the last second to see how you achieved the “wave” on that last light. Yeah, I’m slow 😆 Which is another reason I so appreciate your DIY eye, Dani! 👁
Love the blueberry light! Maybe use a thicker wire on the outer circle. One that would hold a shape and also bent the brass rods a bit, slightly differing angles so you don’t have to come to a 90 degree angle every quarter of the circle. I hope that made sense. You’re so creative. Ty 😊 also I think that bamboo bowl light would look great as a ceiling light.
That umbrella light is unbelievable!!! I LOVE it!!!!!!!!!! I’m a fellow diy human and was thinking, u could totally make a mini version of this! You could use bamboo combos sticks! I’m so excited to make it at some point!!!! You inspire me
Loved this idea and you, again, were awesome! First thing that came to mind would be to attach weight to the centers of the braid as you go around by adding it into the braiding...having it in the centers will allow it to naturally give it the wavy effect your looking for. Simple fix I think! Love it totally!👍😂
Both are great but of course the second one is my favourite. I think with limited space and energy I’ll definitely make two of the first one and hang them in my living room. Thank you for sharing Danie, 💡🛠
To get more of a wave look, I think on your embroidery hoop you needs some dowels resting on the top edge and and some hanging (tied) from the bottom edge so that the dowels are starting with a little bit of a different angle and gravity helps with the one's that hang. The beads, I don't think, were quite heavy enough to cause enough droop with them all starting at the same angle. Looks great though!
I bought something like the 1st light barely a week ago and now I want to return it and try it your way! Also the "I'm de-light-ed" part had me laughing so much I have to find a way to dump it in a conversation someday
Good morning Danie. You make listening to the sponsor ad so interesting. I normally skip over on other people I subscribe to but not you! I’m actually convinced I need Karma now! Going to download… Btw, love today’s DIYs!
I would've done three metal rods spaced at different angles, soaked some of the dowels to give them more of a bend, and played more with the waviness of the wrapped wire. The blueberry beads at the ends of the dowels are my favorite part of this diy.
I see light globes at thrift stores ALL the time. (even a better price than Karma can get you) but then finding one when you need it is always a gamble.
When you said sconce, I was thinking small dessert plate size "bowl". Not sure what to make of that big one. Do love the way the light plays off the bamboo. Never did see how you got the wave in the second light, but you did a great job! Looks terrific!
I loved both lights, but I think I loved the 2nd one a little more because it's so unique. I think one thing that might've helped the wavey effect would be to somehow add weights to the beads themselves or perhaps if you could find them in the same size but with different density. I suppose the same size but made from different types of wood? I don't know. I'm not much of a DIYer myself I just live vicariously through your creativity.
Amazing dupes! Obviously I might try the first DIY, because it’s so much easier and I like the look. The Arteriors light dupe is really quite a feat! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Jess is amazing ❣️ I want one too 🙏
Love both lights the dowels and blue beads light was out of this world. I could see them mass produced I want to try to make one. If u wanted it waver why not put some different size dowels on 1 level up by putting another washer angle that row at an angle. As usual you nailed this project
Fantastic DIY projects ❣❣ Fanlight design: maybe centerpiece make out the wood around inches depth drill hole in a wave-like design gives you the shape of the fan along the sides?
Loved both of the lights, but the second one is really amazing. To be honest, I thought it wouldn’t look as good as it does. Leave it in your dining room - it’s very ‘you’!
That was the best ad I’ve seen for Karma! Freakin hilarious 😂😂🤣 I love these light fixtures! The 2nd one is definitely my style. It’s different but cool AF! I don’t have your skills to DIY it but I’ll definitely keep it in the back of my mind. Maybe I’ll find someone to help me with it 🤷🏻♀️ Enjoy your weekend and I hope next week is amazing 😘
So cool both of them!! But I must say that the "bowl" light is my favourite and I would totally DIY it for my home! I love the simplicity of it and it looked really expensive and well made!!
I love both. I wish I could do the umbrella one but I don't have the patience. I am., however, searching for a bowl in thrift stores to do the wall sconce. Instead of hardwiring it, I'm going to use a battery bulb. I saw the DIYGuy use them so I'm off to hunt for both. Thanks, Danie!
I Love them both! Maybe a heavier gauge wire that is more rigid and would hold the wavy shape and then pull each dowel up and attach with glue or jute or fishing line etc. ?
Love these lights, you are a genius!! Please, please, please do an update with the umbrella light on at night, must see the shadow effect on the ceiling!!❤️❤️❤️
My fav part was your karma ad in the middle. Didn’t skip a second of it which I normally do with other you tubers. Oh and I liked the second light the most.
I love them both and although you put much more work into the 2nd one my absolute favourite is the bowl light. That one is just stunning in my opinion, BUT if my kids were younger I’d love to do the other one in their play room because it’s so playful. 👍🏾💯❤️. Hugz
Some my friends and I did piece work in college, which is where you are paid by the number of “pieces” you complete. No one ever _said_ “We’re racing,” but we were. Every time.
I LOVE that fun little vase on the same shelf as your astronaut dog! With the fun long round doo-dads on it, is that one of your creations?? I prefer the second light, it's so much fun with the beads. I was wondering when you were going to manipulate the wood rods to get the wavy outside but you said 'droop' and I guessed it wasn't something you had to 'do' to it.
Speaking of obsessions lol, I’ve been obsessed with finding a brain ever since you did that light. Sigh can’t find one. You get my creative juices flowing and the ideas are flying outta my head, oh DUCK phew that one almost hit you. Yay for SaturDanie DIY Thats one smart French bull dog statue. The William Tell overture how perfect!!!
I couldn't watch it til Sunday but it was worth the wait. Loved both fixtures and now I'm thinking I have that bamboo bowl at my sister's place. Excuse me while I make a phone call.
I love your video!! Your humor is amazing and your craft are too. And yes I would have tried thicker wire to hold the shape you was looking for. It looked amazing still.
