I use to be a runner but since I gained weight running had become too difficult. But can I tell u I’ve lost 30 lbs since January from just walking both outside and on a treadmill and bejng in a small calorie deficit still eating everything I want 🙌🏽
I needed this comment. I have run 5 half marathons and the last one was on Halloween of 2021. I have a special place in my heart for running but I don't know if I love it anymore and I've gained about 30 lbs in the 6 months since. I loved his take on podcasts as that has helped but I've struggled to get consistent with walking.
Thanks for this! My doggo walking partner, Bella, is 17 and walking a lot less these days and so am I. Gotta readjust and get the step count back up again, great timing for me to see this!
It's hard to hit 10,000 steps a day when you work 8-16 hrs on a computer from home or in the office doesn't make much difference. Sure a standing desk helps a little, but I don't get 10,000 steps in at the desk. I go for a walk during my breaks and at lunch, I walk the dog before and after work, but it's still less than 3,000 or 4,000 steps. In the end I've had to either get up several hrs earlier and walk 3 or 4 miles in the morning or stay up later and walk 3 or 4 miles in the evening. I envy the people who get to walk and move around all day for work.
Agree, it’s difficult. I have figured out that I am not made for a desk job for this reason. I have to have a job that’s very active so my job is also my workout. Because when I get home I just want to crash whether it’s a desk or active job.
10k was hard for me too but then got a smal treadmill and elevated my regular desk with furniyure risers now I can get extra steps in while working remote
That is what I plan on doing very soon :). Jillian Michael's has said the same thing when losing weight. Walk on a treadmill with an incline. Simple stuff. Just walk :). and of course eating right as well :).
I live in the country and have trails all around me so I take 2 hours out of my mornings and get in 20k steps everyday except Sundays. I've been doing it for around 3 months now but sadly I have only started to clean up my diet and start living in a calorie deficit for around a month but I've lost about 28 pounds in 1 month! I'm gonna keep on grinding!
I will answer as I’ve done both. Walking at work definitely does count. However I would add on about 5k steps of an intentional walk. You also want to get your heart pumping and your muscles working while walking which you can do when you walk a mile or two straight. Luckily you can do this in about 30 minutes in the morning or afternoon. I hope this helps ☺️.
Jackson I love doing that and when I am feeling lazy especially if I am doing errands in a shopping plaza I will park my car way out and walk the whole plaza and back to my car its a good way to get your steps in.
Yo just wanted to let you know that the puppy should not be walking that much right now. When I was starting my weight loss journey in 2018 I was walking like 7 miles a day. I told my breeder I wanted a dog to accompany me on my walks. She told me not to walk him a lot when he’s a puppy. Something about hip issues ,development, and immunity. Just googled it also and they need no more than 5 mins of for every month they are alive. So a 3 month old retriever should have not more than 15 mins of exercise 2x in a day. Not attacking you at all just watching out for the little guy. You can google it also. Great video.
You are ABSOLUTELY right! I am keeping my eye on the clock with how much I walk him (not much yet as much as I want to). He is a floppy boi whenever we go on our little walks anyway lol but your advice is MUCH appreciated and I can assure you I have taken it into consideration! Nothin but love and I appreciate YOU!
I’m currently in a 500 calorie deficit of 1600-1800 and walking 90 min per day is perfect for me to do before dinner. My goal is to lose 10 kg more since I already lost 6kg Going from 78 kg before 72 now and 60 in July 2023 5’8 height
Hi Jackson. I enjoy keeping up with your journey. I got a Fitbit and I.m always over 10k steps a day. ?? For you - do you juice? If so, what juicer do you recommend?
