Here in Australia, a couple of nights ago, we actually watched a repeat on the SBS channel of `Michael Palin in Iraq' and the episode where he was at Ur. [If you're not familiar with Palin, he was one of the `Month Python' team from the 1970s, but has made many really interesting travel programs for English TV since]. He followed broadly the same routes through Iraq as you did, but staying in Hotels he would have missed out on meeting ordinary Iraqis and everyday experiences of life in Iraq. He went on the boat trip through the marshes also, and he visited a farmer whose family have lived on the marshes from long ago, but then retreated to a modern hotel... Palin managed to get access to climb the Ziggurat and also went to the silver-domed memorial, but he or his team probably had the means to open doors that others have not. That program is a few years old ago now , and it's clear from your experiences that although Iraq still suffers the ongoing effects of a number of conflicts, the Iraqi people are getting on with life and rebuilding, and have such a positive and welcoming attitude. Reading the other comments on this post, it's clear, as I have believed for many years, that our Western Media tells only the stories it wants to tell about Iraq and other Arabic countries. I'm keenly interested in your travels and look forward to watching your posts as you progress on your trip to Nepal.
Ur, the first city in history and the first letter written in the world, is here.. Yes, you are in Iraq, in Ur, this great city.. Here the Prophet Abraham, peace be upon him, was born.. Here is the ziggurat, which is one of the wonders of the world. It contains 16 royal tombs built of bricks and mud, and each tomb was A well, and when the king died, his female slaves were buried with him in their clothes and jewelry after he killed them with poison upon his death. The cemetery had a structure with a dome on top. Thank you for visiting Iraq. You are a wonderful girl. You respect everyone, and this is what I saw through the videos. You convey beautiful things about Iraq. Thank you again.
Just to clarify that, Uruk is the first city in the history, not Ur, and the first letter written in it which is located near the city of Samawah in southern Iraq, to the northwest of the Ur city.
@@amged31 My friend: You said: "... when the king died, his female slaves were buried with him in their clothes and jewelry after he killed them with poison upon his death." How comes that a king dies and then kills his slaves to be buried with him? I think you mean: When a king died, his slaves would be be killed and buried with him (by someone - definitely not the already dead king). This is more logical, isn't it?
For sure people will appreciate what are you doing and put it on Tv , thousand of kilometers crossing different countries and cultures as a solo female traveler on motorbike , it deserve respect and admiration 🙂
My ancestors come from the marshes of Iraq, specifically from the city of Maysan. They were buffalo breeders and hunters and lived in reed houses, but now we live in the city and work in the oil fields ❤️

The best, most wonderful, or strongest, with the longest history, is Iraq. Yes, the land of civilizations. Mesopotamia, the land of scholars, doctors, engineers, writers, and poets. Thank you very much for transmitting this beautiful picture. Thank you. ❤

As long as you are happy with the little things, you will be happy in Iraq. Because it is the only thing that brings happiness in this country. As for the big things, they are limited to the affluent minority. Although the wealth of this country can make everyone happy ..
I hope that the media will change the bad image of race. Iraq is a wonderful country, has a nice people, welcomes all guests, and is a peaceful people who love life and have no enmity with anyone in this world.
@@Ahmad.AL-Hashemi the world is leaded by IL lobbies but actually bad people are disposing themselves by their own acts..we're not the bad boy in the equation so no need to pay attention
I love the positive energy you have, thank you for the beautiful content you provide. Thank you again for Country Music, and thank you again for conveying a beautiful picture of my country, Iraq. I love you ❤️
Iraq was the first to establish laws, the first to discover wheels, the first to discover mathematics, engineering, medicine, astronomy and space, the first to invent writing, and their kings ruled the world twice, and there is a lot of amazing information.

You are now in a city called (Al-Chibayish), which is a somewhat touristic city, and most of the landmarks of this city are the marshes and the people of Iraq. Well, I wish you a nice time in my country, especially now that you are in my city, but I hope that you will look at the history of these cities in order to understand some things, for example this building that contained On a silver dome is the building. It is a symbol of martyrs who were martyred in the marshes during the previous regime, not a mosque. Inside the building there were pictures and stories that talked about some of the things that pertained to these martyrs, but at the present time they have removed them from the building. Here is some information that pertains to this building. I wish you a pleasant time.
