I use these balls James. When people ask, I liken them to a firm version of an AVX. On shots around the green I don't get they run out like the AVX and for those approximately 100yds shots it doesn't rip back or roll out, it just stops.
Might have mentioned this on a vlog previously.... I'm an 18 Hcap and play the ProV1X (Yellow), really like it, a good friend (LPGA player) was fit by Titleist for the left dash, she loves it! I've never thought about asking her an opinion on it but now I'm going to, also, this ball sells out at arrival here in Orlando at our local PGASuperStore....at $52.99, the same day it comes in!! At least she's not paying for them!! Thx for sharing with us James, now go rip that 1+ dudes heart out on a course and vlog it for us to enjoy!!
I struggle with low spin with irons but spin driver too much that's definitely technique. I used to use avx but switched to Pro v1 much prefer the feel around the greens but like avx more with long shots. Im liking the fact premium balls are now available in yellow.
There’s a huge difference in feel IMO.. I got a box for Father’s Day and my driver seems to go a bit further but other than that no difference. Mainly they feel harder on all clubs including the putter
I am going to try gaming with the left dash for a box. I like a high compression ball off my driver, but not top flite hard... but around the green I like the skin of the ball to have some bite on the face of my wedges. My number one concern with high compression balls is how to the feel off the putterface. Putting is the money maker, and good feel gives one confidence to make the put. WE SHALL SEE!!!!!
James as usual an entertaining video...But please do something about the light in you’re studio, I’m on full brightness and it’s still dark .. 😉⛳️🏌️♂️🍻
Someone gave me these by accident when I asked for Pro V's and I didn't notice until after the round. I could tell there was some kind of difference but didn't know what it was lol Here to figure out what to expect from the "left dash"
I want less short game spin. I tend to hit chip & run shots round the green & I don't carry a lob wedge. Greenside spin is less of an issue when I select my golf balls.....
Played a pro -am and the pro used these . However impressive his distance with the left dash TSR 4 driver combi it didn't impress on putting roll consistency or short game stopping ability . However he did point out that a drive and we'll struck 6 iron with left dash can go around 560 yards and that's the minimum you need on the 7300yard brute golf courses these days . So at the top of the game distance is king .
I haven't tried one of these left dash balls yet, in fact I haven't even seen one of them. I like the Pro V1 balls but as I am a high handicapper I usually play with what I can find. Nice video.
Not even thinking of them. The standard feel a like a lump of concrete to me so anything harder would be horrible . I quite agree with playing with the same ball all the time though .
Very interesting. . . . . I won a sleeve of these @ West Lancs GC yesterday, we ll see how they go. Lower driver spin will prob suit us amateurs. Its probably a very clever marketing strategy too, what they say is correct, so they can say it, but putting some 'spin' and smoke n mirrors around this creates interest and intrigue, which is what Taylormade do, very clever. Quality.
Test them on the putter, clicky ball with a Scottycameron?, i don't like it, so always feel better with a softer feeling ball. Have you tried it on your Scotty James?
just bought a bunch of these left dash balls and Bridgestone tour b XS. Gonna use this ball off the tee then switch it out to the Bridgestone for everything else and hope my mates don't mind lmao.
Morning James for years I’ve used srixon Ad333 and me golf has changed for the good I thought I would try the new tp5 pix ball for this year and the balls seem to further then the ad333 and round the green seem to have more control but not sure if that’s down to me you could always do a one on one test great videos thanks
It sounds like it is intended to be played by players that want that high shot but want the ball to roll still. I know some people that like to play a lot of "bump and run" shots and see the ball release more than check up.
Edit: these golf balls are for higher swing speed only. If your driver speed is less than 110, these higher compression balls are probably not for you. Boys and girls, a new ball is in town. Its called the Chrome Soft X LS, if youve been running the left dash and cant get them anymore like myself, the LS absolutely fills the gap. Great ball, super clicky, and i think its got better feel around the green. I might even get the callaway irons now even though i nutted up for a brand new set of titleist cbs 6 months ago.
False I don’t have that fast of a swing speed and I shoot very good with these balls actually the only ball I like to play with I played with them all I tried them all for me and my swingers ball works perfectly I’m not a very fast one or maybe 9080 sometimes and if I wanted to over 100
Been playing these for 5 rounds and has turned into my gamer. Has helped since I am a relatively high spin player with everything (flippy with the hands and a lot of downward attack angle)
Went for a driver fitting was I was playing tp5 , pro said nope changed me to a Sirixon ad333 , longer more consistent ball flight ect , half the cost , and they are a lot more durable the tp5s don’t last a minute until they start cutting up , don’t didn’t quite like feel of putter with Sirixon so now playing tru- feel which I find is the best aground ball for my game , tp5s and pro v1 are for the lower handicaps who are more consistent and have a very good swing speed , think some people just buy them to say I’m playing a pro v1 😂
This is my current gamer ball, it is the highest compression, low spinning golf ball, but if you are a low spinner already this is not the ball for you especially off the driver, you will get knuckle balls
The Prov1x is the higher spinning of the prov balls. And higher flying... The lower spinning since 2017 is the prov1. So the left dash would be somewhere in the middle of the two? But with a clickier fee?, which makes no sense to me. The left dot should be the prov1's firmer ball? Its listed as lower flying, and the prov1 is lower than the prov1x. So for spin it would be dot -> v1 -> dash -> v1x -> greg maddux curve ball. I am a firm believer that spin, for amateurs, isn't great unless the club head speed is so low you need it for loft. But back spin is side spin in an amateur. So anyone that hits the ball with a lot of club head speed, but has a bad path, face, or descending blow, more spin is hurting their game. I am making a couple videos and I was researching when I dropped in here. Great video. Great channel. Thanks.
Surely consistency of strikes has to be good but I can definitely tell the difference in feel. I usually use PRO V1 but have recently started using the new Bridgestone balls and also recently tried Srixon z-star and I loved the feel of those just a much as a PRO V1 all down to preference though
This whole ball thing is getting interesting. I think Jack has a point. But us poor higher handicap players won't be happy. But who cares. Unless you are playing in a USGA event.... use what you want. But it will be interesting to see what comes of all of this. Thanks Bryson!
Hi James. Please do a video on the 3x triple track golf balls. Erc, chrome soft and chrome soft x. Since I have changed to triple track my birdies putts go in and most shots go straight
Great job James. I played the left dash earlier this year because I am a high spin high flight player. The ball fit everything thing I was looking for but the firmness and the click of the ball around the greens a couldn't deal with.
I think I'll stick with the Standard ProV1X, good distance off the Driver and really good control around the greens. Then I switch to the AVX when the weather is cooler... 🏌️♂️
@@DavidMossMGS The trajectory of the ball. ProV1X has a different dimple pattern than the ProV1, that gives it a higher ball flight. For me it's only a few more yards but at my age distance is a big deal.
I have been told I'm a high spin player (but I really haven't seen that with my Skytrak on a mat and on the course: the high spin numbers were with Trackman on a mat). So I eagerly tried the left dash. Using my Skytrak I see more spin difference than you've shown here with every club. The left dash does carry further (over 5 yards with irons - a lot) probably due to the reduced spin. Occasionally I get a ballooner with the standard that has much more spin (11000 RPM with the standard using a 6 iron for example). Driver distance is nearly the same. I need to go to the course to see how the left dash will work on grass, around the greens and how much roll I get from the driver. The price is the same. Availability although not universal is good in the US. The left dash is not available in yellow right now. If the left dash behaves as poorly around the greens as the original issue AVX, then the advantages with the other clubs will not be enough to switch to left dash.
Love it, found a PIX down the left side of one of our fairways on Saturday, have you been traveling down south? Mind you found 4 proV1's as well (wasn't looking for my ball - but only managed to keep the PIX for 9 holes before i lost it too..!)
Good video James - do you think this is a ball you could game? You said in the previous video you game the TP5x which is also a firm ball.. could you ever see yourself make a switch to the left dash? I really wanna get it as I know I’m high spin. Just can’t find anywhere to try it first.
Great content on your videos James! I've been following your channel from the start and its all been good viewing. Get yourself and a mate up for a laugh at st andrews, our local and bring your favourite ball. Me and my mate will take a fiver off ye 😉
A person with a Fore Left Driver shot that can surface should not use a lower spinning ball (more spin is more better in reducing curvature) - but if you are a power fader tour level player, then lowering that driver spin by a few hundred rpms is most likely another 5-10 yards carry at tour level swing speeds. You will also gain distance in your mid irons but lose stopping power (these may offset) but at least the wedge spin is similar enough that wedges will hold the green. Seems like an AVX built for Pro Level swing speeds.
Hi James do you think a right dash is a possible next option? And is the whole point of the ball is that it gives the best spin for the all round game, (more spin around the greens great but the trade off is higher spinning shorter drives?), cheers
I find marking the ball with a orange Sharpie reduces spin with the driver without effecting green side spin, phenomenal I know, who would have thought it!!!
Why not compare it with a Titleist Trusoft or other cheaper ball - which tends not to spin as much - also if you had an amateur who when fitted - spins the ball too much - see what happens if they use a cheaper golf ball? rather than changing shafts/weight distribution of the club? PS if you put ear plugs in you may well not be able to 'feel' the difference in the balls.
When James said sorry he sounded like the friar in the Van Helsing movie when he accidentally lets off some explosives in their laboratory down in the Vatican.
I’ve been playing the Left Dash for the past year in windy Florida and found it penetrates the wind better. Yes it is firmer (which I liked) and the spin is very predictable.
The prov1x as of 2017 is the spinier (but clickier feeling) of the prov1s For windy conditions you now want the prov1 (but it FEELS soft). I know you are thinking I am crazy, but go to Titleist's comparison page and its clear. Prov1 -> less spin, lower flight. Prov1x High flight, more spin but firmer feel. I am not sure why Titleist did this, but that seems to be the case now. It almost cost me passing my PAT again last year as I bought PROV1X and started with it, in Florida, with 30 mph winds, and you cant switch balls during a round. So I had to hit half swing punches the whole round until I could switch. I passed still, but most people did not. That is when I learned the hard way Titleist swapped the balls. Cheers
Bad balls do happen. Why give myself more disadvantage with possible bad ball. I prefer new even if they are cheap. Sometimes they are in the forest for a reason.
Every ball in that category performs to within 2 yards of each other of the driver, and a matter of a foot at the very most in approaches to the greens. In and around the greens, a matter of inches in difference.....just a marketing ploy to get folk to spend another 40 quid. (imo), of course. As an aside, i took a callaway out of my bag the other day, thought it was the newest model, it was a callaway hex ball, did not realise till the 14th hole...I drove a 330 yard par 4 with the hex.....methinks , not much progress has been made with the ball, these last few years..i am 6 handicap btw..
