Leaving the highest motorable pass in the world I take an alternative path down the mountain over rough tracks and water crossings. I have to ride through hail and rain again, find a great home stay and catch up with a National Geographic Photographer. I drop by nomad Yak farmers, go exploring in the desert, check out an incredible lake and end up in an oasis.

Joe, you come across as the sort of person I would gravitate towards if we met on the road. Loving this series so much. Though I've been to all these places but the very raw nature of your videos still makes me excited about it as if I am there only. Somebody wants to see all kind of terrains at one place, India is the place to go if one can see beyond the stereotypes. Even our deserts comes with two options Hot or Cold..pick one Leh cold and Rajasthan Hot 😄.

Jody is awesome in capturing people and the way they live, there is so much to each of her images and she is pretty epic with anything to do with water. Yer normally the levellers bend back easily, but once bent back 180 degrees it was a lot harder to try and bend and I felt it would break of the spline before it bent back, I am not a material scientist but I know metal does have it's limits so Thought it safer to level it until l can get to a place to sort it.

Nice one Joe another great episode, those green patches of land in such remote barren places and people making a living there unbelievable I wonder what it all looks like in winter ? Safe riding Thanks Dave
@freewayproject
@freewayproject 3 дня назад
Yes it so barren then you come around a corner to this bright green strip it wild. The whole place is under snow in winter, the pervious episode wit the lake, the whole lake freezes over, the Indians and Chinese arm had a skirmish on top of the lake not to long ago, (they made a deal they couldn't use guns so it bats and fists). It's great to know you're still enjoying the series.

It is mind blowing this place, what doesn't come across is the scale, where I said this is the biggest sandy hill I have ever seen 17.34 if you look really closely there are black dots just to the left of centre on the hill, they are massive trucks driving up into the sandy valley. In winter the whole place is covered in snow so a different type of desolate. Yes that was a great find the last home stay. Thanks for watching as always Neil.

haha, now there's a great idea. Yes it was a great spot t stay the night Rob. I know the lady running the place dropped the price as I got there later in the day and was leaving early also I didn't book online or go through a booking agency, I paid I think the equivalent of around $25AUD but it would normally be higher. I think it's closer to $40 - $45AUD if pre booked.

Must be an incredible experience driving at these remote roads at such a high altitude. I wonder whether you noticed any loss of power from your bike, while climbing that high. Looking forward to next weeks episode ;)
@freewayproject
@freewayproject 3 дня назад
It is definitely an incredible experience riding and exploring this area. I didn't notice any loss in power but.... how to explain this..... stick with me here, due to the lack of oxygen at these altitudes your body is going to be the biggest issue. There is not way you could ride hard off road enduro up here. When I dropped the bike in the water crossing it took me 3 goes to pick it up because I was slipping on the slimy rocks, (which at sea level is no issue at all) but I then had to wait 5min before talking to camera just trying to get my breath back, you can probably hear me still trying to get oxygen in. So it wouldn't matter if there is a slight drop in power of the bike (again not that I notice). It's a whole different ball game up here. I hope that makes sense Really interesting and definitely if you ever get a chance worth experiencing it. Thanks for watching as always mate.

You'll have to watch the next episode. Gear shifter are easy to bend when they are close to their normal spot, but once fully bent 180, not so easy, I am not a material scientist but 180 degrees might change things as it felt like it would rip off the spline before going back. Thanks for watching as always mate.
