4:17 “255” is actually the highest number possible to be coded in old games or something like that, so a MissingNo. from Pokemon Red had the possibility to be lvl. 256 because of the multiplier thing. Bit complicated imo, but ayyyy right answer for me
it's just because there's only 1 byte available for numbers so the max you can reach is 255 before it goes to 256 which would be 100000000 in binary which is not possible with only 1 byte
Ikr most of those questions are stuff only super nerds would get. So basically if one doesn’t study up on all of gaming history they can’t be considered a gamer? I’ve been playing video games my whole life and I couldn’t tell you the answer to most of those questions.

4:14 The reason for this question is because old computers could only count up to 255. Fun fact, this caused a glitch in the original Sid meirs civilization game, one ai leader was ghandi, he was the most peaceful only going into war if you declared it, he had a peace rating of 1/10. But because he would always choose a peaceful ideology that lowers the peace rating of an ai by two, he would go down to 0/10 and loop around to 255/10 with his peace rating. This lead to “nuclear ghandi”, and the devs not patching this glitch cause it was funny. Down the line, all future civilizations games have had a reference to this. (Civ 5, Ghandi’s nuclear weapon building rate is 10/10.)

2:05 It meant the first video game to have been played in outer space. As in, the person went to space and played the game there not the video game being space-related.
Fun fact. Japan had a different version of the NES and SNES. The Famicom is their version of the NES. Some astronaut brought a Gameboy and Tetris to space with him.
Damn you don’t know how excited and happy I got when I saw the sims question, I think the intent was that it was an architecture game where little sims would go around a judge your houses however the creator of the sims felt like the sims should be more than that and it ended up one of the most popular life simulator game in the world
