From my observation, most places are best enjoyed as a tourist than as a local because it is more likely tourist traps. It comes down to one place that you feel you can call "home"; however, do your research before you move first. That's so true! It can be fun just to visit places for a touristy day (Brighton, I'm looking at you) A feeling of home isn't always dependent on the bricks and mortar either.
